African Chow - Brighton - Photo album

Midweek lunchtime isn't a fair reflection on the weekend evenings as they're rarely the same. As a first time visitor, it's a nice casual space to fit a dozen or so inside. Floor to ceiling windows mean plenty of light in the airy space. The small outside area adds more tables and in nice weather th
Had a lovely lunch and absolutely enjoyed the food. Tasty and hot when delivered at table. Prawns was my favourite amd Pork belly was put off this world. A truly delicious and memorable lunch. The smell inside is so inviting, you just want to eat everything on menu, can recommend the curry's 100%. W
These guys totally nail the big flavour accessible prices brief in my book. Was so happy to come and try the South African Durban streetfood and the all-famous pumpkin fritters (totally worth the hype). They had two vegan curries - one sweet potato based the other (my fave) was puffed tofu mushroom
WOW! Amazing food! Had the Bunny Chow for the first time. It was really tasty. The Pumpkin Fritters were off the hook! Better than my Ouma used to make them. It was really emotional. Nice to have a little piece of South Africa in Brighton. Service & atmosphere were brilliant. Can’t wait to go back.
We eat out a lot, all different cuisines. So glad we discovered this place. Absolutely wonderful curries, cooked perfectly, the meat was melt in your mouth. Delicious pumpkin fritters with just the right sweetness & cinnamon spice. Prices incredible value and the loveliest staff who really know h th
I had the vegetarian curry with tofu, extra spicy, it didn’t disappoint A really nice blend of heat and flavour The restaurant is really welcoming and the staff very friendly, definitely recommended
Delicious vegan Bunny Chow; half a loaf stuffed with Durban Curry. All washed down with an African lager. Adequately filling (the better half took home a doggie box). Happy lunch😉
our office went for food and all in all was enjoyable. We had the Chicken Thigh Durban Currey with Garlic Bread. We felt that the curry was incredibly nice great flavours and had the onion chutney sauce. The only thing we would say is when we run out of onion chutney it tasted a little bit bland due
If you are looking for delicious food at a reasonable price this has to be one of the best spots in Brighton. The Durban-style curries are full of flavour and will leave you wanting more. The owner, Greg, is always friendly and welcoming.
A group of 6 of us went for lunch. Gregg the owner went over & above to make us comfortable on the terrace. I had the lamb curry (extra spicy) which was succulent & very tasty. Absolutely loved everything about this place. Friendly, smiley staff. Reasonably priced. I can't wait to go back ... 5 star
Our Monday early dinner at African Chow was great. The Durban curries were very good and I just loved my lamb bunny chow. Having worked in Durban SA for a few years it felt I was back there. Plus having the SA beers helped.
Went here on a Sunday and there were loads of incredible live acts performing. I ordered the beef curry, a cocktail and the pumpkin fritters and loved every bite! I was served by oskar and nadiira who were incredibly polite and welcoming. Will definitely be coming back!
I was treated to lunch today by my dear friend Jason who had been here a few times. The food is superb and the service outstanding with a myriad of condiments, sauces and a secret recipe pudding. Great value and apparently occasionally live music . We will be back Marc
Just had the YUMMIEST veg curry with sticky rice and amazing chutney from African Chow, beautiful spices, big fan! Staff are very friendly and the food is amazing, especially for the price. Can't recommend this place enough :D
Like the food esp. Biltong and pumpkin fritters. The lamb curry was not my favorite as the meat now great cut. That said really great service and welcoming atmosphere.
We love to come here for delicious food with great music & atmosphere. The portions are generous and very reasonably priced - excellent value overall. We are actually full & sated after leaving which is rare these days. Highly recommend.
