Had the most incredible lunch experience at due south a couple weeks ago. The staff was extremely welcoming, friendly and catered to our every need, the food was exceptional and the wine pairings really added to the experience, will definitely be returning for those gorgeous oysters. All in all would highly recommend!!
Lovely ! We have been here twice recently, for the Sunday lunch and the Thursday Set Menu. Both really tasty.
The Sunday lunch comes with two types of meet, amazing truffle cauli cheese and delicious gravy. We had beef and lamb, the pulled lamb was amazing.
The set menu was also great, a beautiful selection of seasonal produce. You can tell the chef cares about all things food!
Stopped here randomly looking for food and it was damn delicious. The wine, the starter (lobster crumpets) and the main (Smoked sea trout) were amazing. The service was a little slow but by the time I finished the meal I'm not bothered as the dishes were so damn tasty and so damn well presented. I will certainly be back and I recommend any fans of seafood to try it.
Fabulous food! Was a pleasure to find such a quality restaurant right on the beachfront. Great value for money. Will make this our regular place to eat when in Brighton. Steak looked awesome. Will order it next time we there. Had sea food and it was fresh and tasty. Staff are attentive. You can see chefs at work and there is a room where you can see them making dough. Definitely recommend.
Have been coming to Brighton for decades for fresh seafood and what a pleasant find - really excellent food and service. We know the spot very well as previously R&F - happy we took a chance as we thoroughly enjoyed.
Oysters were so fresh that we ordered another dozen rather than mains. Kids menu are 3 courses and excellently prepared.
I'll start by putting in a request that they reinstate the lobster crumpets as soon as possible - I'll be holding a candlelight vigil! They were the best "nibble" I've had in many a moon. The blue cheese crumpets are good, but once you go lobster you don't go back!
Due South is a strong, reliable fish-heavy restaurant with staff who work professionally and a menu / wine list that gives a generous nod to local produce.
I'm not usually a pudding kinda guy, but I'd make an exception for the dessert menu here.
All in all, I'm grateful to have a reliable establishment like this close to home.
A generous 4 star review for the following reasons.
Same owners from Riddle and Finns. There are a bit of hype locally and some of my local friends are excited about this place but I found nothing really special here.
Staff are friendly and passionate about making this restaurant a success, however it is grossly understaffed. So kudos to the staff.
You would be disappointed if you are looking for seafood as there are more land and sea when it comes to food. Being by the beach in Brighton, I must say it is really disappointing.
Food is not bad. I would recommend the Steak Tartare with Caviar, and Duck as starters. Oysters are ok and some are a bit small. I had Dover Sole for my main and it’s reasonable. Wine list is short and quite limited - again disappointing. This place has great potential but they really need to sort their staff and their menu. I think most customers visiting Brighton would expect more seafood.
Food 7/10, service 7/10, ambience 7/10, value for money 7/10. Sadly nothing special and failed to live up to the hype and expectations.
I've had two excellent meals at Due South and would highly recommend it to anyone who will listen! From start to finish both meals were divine. Highlights include the steak tartar, sharing lamb and ceviche. Delicious wine and a cosy setting. We had slow service on one of the trips but the waitress was aware and offered complimentary drinks which was appreciated.
Expensive but delicious food.
I ate here with my mother who thankfully was paying for us. I was a bit worried about the portion sizes but my aubergine starter was delicious, tender with a miso dressing and creamy goats cheese which was unusual but delicious. The main course was lamb loin medallions tasty on a small bed of white cabbage again with goats cheese. I didn't see the point and would Rather have had potatoes or other veg. The spinach and mint puree as a substitute for standard vinegary mint sauce was delicious. However there were no proper vegetables or potatoes etc offered with the meal which would be £5 extra as a side portion. We shared the chocolate dessert which was very rich but nice. I'd say very good presentation and flavours in the meal but small portion sizes and limited menu
Paleo carb free dishes?
however it was nice to eat outside and they had lots of tables free on Tuesday evening
Danny was the man. He shared his in depth experience about the food with me and my friend who funny enough did not even like seafood but when he tasted the sea bass he was over the moon. Great rose wine. Views . It’s everything I need after a long days work. Made my day . Thanks Danny
Had an amazing lunch at due South today. Was excited to check this place out as had heard lots of good things abou this place. Enjoyed a nice glass of sparkling English wine on the terrace.
The food really is the best in brighton at the moment. I Enjoyed the cod dish with a delicious wild garlic source. The starters were very tasty. I also tried my partners tuna tartare which tasted very light and fresh.
Would definitely recommend if you enjoy fine dining with beautiful views!
Stumbled across by chance on Due South on their opening night for the most gorgeous meal. Amazing food combining delicate flavours from start to finish served by lovely staff... one to watch and wouldn’t be surprised if it gets a Michelin star soon.

It was a truly pleasant experience as a tourist and it was my first time I really enjoyed the atmosphere people are so nice and positive vibes are all over the place. Service is impeccable 100% very hygienic and clean and they are very very nice simple light people. Food is delicious and has so many varieties for vegans vegetarians and those who eat different kind of meals it truly has big big variety of what you can eat and drink it friendly for adults and children both and has a great view I would highly recommend this place if you go there thank you all so much
Great food and service .. although the food was good it was quite pricey and the alcohol was very pricey too!
The cheapest glass of Prosecco was £10!! Ouch!! Not somewhere you can afford to go to regular but where isn’t expensive these days! Staff were friendly and venue is good.
My husband and I had a lovely meal at this busy seafront Brasserie-style restaurant with a focus on fish. We had the most sumptuous seafood raviolo smothered in a fantastic veloute that contained delicately aromatic fennel and a very subtle hint of coconut. This dish was a real stand-out. We also had fresh, well cooked, barbecued mackerel with chimichurri, baby new potatoes roasted and herby, and heritage tomato salad. The dessert was super indulgent- chocolate hazelnuts cream - heaven. We shared a bottle of wine, and it came to £130 including a tip. The cooking is very good, staff are attentive and friendly. We went on a Saturday night so the music was cranked up and the whole venue was noisy but we liked that. I imagine a week night might be a little more chilled and quiet if that’s your preference.
Been on the list for ages, and finally got a chance on Friday 23rd July 2021 & back in Jan 2022. Wonderful front of house. I lucked out with the Lobster, fresh, buttery heaven. The Dover sole was epic too.
