My local fish and chip shop has been used by me for years - not the best I have ever had but plenty good enough. The man behind the counter is fine if you speak to him.
Perfectly crispy cod and delicious rustic chips. And they have onion vinegar! Great service too... And it's definitely not shut on a Saturday despite what it says on Google.

Just saw a negative post regarding the owner, so thought I'd share my experience.
The man of this shop is so lovely, he always remembers the order for the care home I work at and their names. Food is the best I've been to in Brighton and the owner has always been warm and welcoming.
This place hasn't changed and I am glad of it! The fish is freshly fried and the chips are proper potatoes, none of this frozen pre-packaged stuff. If you want proper fish and chips in a retro setting, this is the place to go.
