The restaurant is lovely, right across the road from the seafront, and has a nice smart but comfortable vibe. The food is all delicious and incredibly high quality - the best seafood I've had in the UK. You do pay for the quality though. If you plan on three courses plus drinks you can expect to easily spend £70 per person. So it's not a regular night out but it's a great treat especially if you like shellfish and other seafood.
Really bright and well presented surroundings with a lively atmosphere.
On a fine warmer day, plenty of outside space for dinning, with views out to sea.
Plenty of choice menu wise.
The food is proper well prepared seafood with options for meat eaters and vegetarians. We had the sharing fish pie which was very tasty and plentiful. Very competitive prices for a large seafront restaurant. Service excellent friendly and informative. There was quite a wait for the food ordered to arrive but gives you time for a good chin wag and a tipple. In the end, worth the wait.
The experience starts at the door, friendly greeting, coats taken and hung up, well dressed table, attentive staff. Drinks order taken and delivered quickly. Fantastic choices on menu with innovative well cooked food delivered with a smile, wine poured by watchful staff, the happy birthday plate was a lovely surprise, the iced Christmas pudding was a revelation, never eaten anything so clever before, had the same sweet on our second visit
Visit this restaurant you will not be disappointed
We had a lovely dinner at The Salt Room last night. We had Oysters and Dill cured Salmon to start, followed by The catch of the day, Brill and shared the Whisky Baba for dessert. The food was amazing, so delicate but full of flavour, it was delicious. Greg's suggestion for the wine was the perfect match to the Brill. All the staff were friendly and attentive, without intruding on our evening, the service was exceptional. We will definitely be back the next time we visit Brighton.
the food was top tier, but the service was friendly and not pretentious. We felt like it was a luxury/family vibe. The kids menu worked well for my daughter; as she loved Mac and cheese, and Ice cream to finish.
Our server was a gentleman (forgot his name) but he was so friendly and accommodating. Recommended me the French Oysters, which was so clean compared to my favs Irish Oysters.
I had the Monkfish to finish, and a decadent choc tart to finish. I would love to bring my parents here one day when I’m back in Brighton!
Tried this place for my lunch but my bad luck as it was nearly booked and there’s mo table
Available. So I’ll have to be out. Btw as i noticed the service was great and sea food people were enjoying was mouthwatering and with well presentation. Beautiful location just in front of the sea and you can enjoy the view from the terrace. Next time I’ll book my table before pop in.
I had the most amazing experience here just before Christmas 2023! 2 visits in 3 days - how lucky was I! Really excellent food and service. Huge shout out to the chefs - Arion & Tomas, their food was sumptuous! Michael & the rest of the front of house team were amazing too! My first visit I had the market fish special, which was Brill, so tasty and huge too. Had to take some home 😆 there was so much! Oysters were also delectable on both days. Would recommend the Bream too. Anither hughlight was the apple parfait, memories of apple crumble!! A truly unforgettable experience, thank you to the team at The Saltroom.
We enjoyed the lunch deal £20 for a main and dessert. My mussels were excellent, the sauce delicious and aromatic. Chips were great too. My friend shared a grilled sea bream with two sides. We had cannolo as dessert and (other of two choices) affogato. Coffee was very butter but other than that am overall great meal with efficient service
Wow 😲 This place is amazing. First of all, the location is stunning, right in front of the sea. Secondly, the food is excellent, and the price is quite reasonable! Thirdly, the service is attentionate and professional. We have been quite impressed with everyone working there, both me and my partner have worked in fine dining restaurants before, and I can say that you get a lot more than you pay for! Highly recommended !!!
Amazing meal. The level of service was sublime. Our waiters knowledge for both the food and drink he was serving was excellent. Staff we all extremely courteous. The selection of seafood was particularly good and its matched. Great location on the seafront. We were sat outside and I would have appreciated the offer of the heater above us being turned on because I arrived without a cover up or cardigan and felt uncomfortably chilly until the breeze dropped.
The Billet, the market fish was so Smokey and light but meaty was really good and came with the potatoes and Hispi cabbage. Scallops with parley crumb was sl rich and tasty. We had wine waiting for us.
Great location on the seafront. Lovely food expertly prepared and served with care. Tempura prawns lovely but big! So if you’re having a starter, don’t over order. Fish perfect, and steak amazing. We had rib-eye medium rare. Staff all very attentive. But due to popularity book a table early we missed the first slot on Saturday but managed to get a table on Sunday. Enjoy!
What a gem! 5 star service and the seafood was superb for the price - we had the platter and lobster. I would have liked more southern hemisphere wines on the menu but otherwise I really enjoyed it and the kids menu food and portions were extremely generous. Great for families. I’ll be back.
We have had the Brighton Sea Bass as the catch of the day and Cornish Crab for starters. Both were amazing and delicious. The bass was just enough for two people with tremendous side dishes of cabbage with cream cheese and hazelnut crumbs; as well as the roasted smashed potatoes with herbs and garlic. We drank a Chardonnay recommended by our waiter, that was also very nice. The bass was cooked on fire and perfectly charred. It was juicy and tender.
The ambiance was beautiful, I loved the lighting of the restaurant in particular.
All of the staff were amazing, I was seeing the kitchen from my seat and I liked how harmonious they were working. Our waiter was so friendly and polite as well.
Overall, we enjoyed our time and will definitely come back again!
Had a lovely time at The Salt Room, we celebrated a 60th and 30th birthday and the restaurant made sure to help us surprise the two. Gabor was so lovely, we asked what was in a drink they gave us because of how much we liked it and he came back with the whole recipe. You can eat well in a lot of places, but the service here is close to none. Would 100% recommend. Also the Sussex Brill is to die for
Found the Salt Room and booked online the day before our visit to Brighton and so glad we did. Service was great and food was delicious. Highly recommend and I will definitely visit again when I am next in Brighton.
Can't fault anything about our visit for lunch. The restaurant was very quiet but it was a very wet Tuesday. Front of house were very welcoming and friendly. Our server Michael was very nice. Knowledgeable about the menu and specials on offer. Helped us choose our wine and was attentive without being overbearing. The food was fantastic. We had some oysters, soft shell crab and then the fish of the day which Michael filleted perfectly at the table.
Booked for my partners birthday, fantastic location, food and service. Hats off to the kitchen, Oliver and bar staff. We regularly eat at restaurants that offer seafood however The Saltroom reaches the top of the list. Thank you for a fantastic night we will be back when visiting Brighton!!
Highly recommend the oysters and seafood sharers!
Thank you again Oliver!
