Lovely little pub, made ideal with the real fireplace that was kept stoked. I had the gammon roast that was what I would call "a proper plate like Mum would make", it wasn't all herbs/bells and whistles, but a hearty plate of food with swede, stuffing etc. The servers were very nice, but it took a while to get served, get sauces etc, and things like the fact you order at the bar wasn't made clear, so when we went up a number of other tables then joined as they had all been waiting at their tables for someone to go over.
Came here for a family meal as it was ideal since it's just down the road from the university. Really nice local pub. Was fairly busy but were able to get a table. We all went for a Sunday roast which you can have chicken, beef or pork. All come with roast potatoes, cabbage, Yorkshire pudding etc. I think we all agreed it was really great food and plenty of it. Service was top notch, very friendly locals too! Price was reasonable for what you got. Overall I'd definitely come back here for a meal/pint any day.
Always great, proper old school charm. Helpful, welcoming and friendly staff. Good honest food which happily has vegan and veggie options.
We're not football fans so do avoid it on match days, apart from that always an excellent place to stop.
Great little pub, it actually has 3 bars but always nice beer and great service, really nice place to be when the weather is better because they open the barn and have a large outside area you can sit, easy 10 min walk from The Swan to the Amex Stadium as well, so you can get there early enjoy your pint, then get to the stadium via the bridge that goes behind the village. or over the main road.
I've been there a few days ago with my colleagues. Staff are charming. Food is very tasty and it serves in a generous portions. Close to the pub there is the Falmer pond, a nice place to go for a walk. I really recommend it.
Nice cosy idyllic country pub
Didn't have food but will next time.
Lovely open fire warms you up after a cold rainy walk
A bit out of the way, but it has plenty of parking outside.
It was used for a wake. The staff were friendly and the place was nice and clean.
Friendly, traditional pub attracting a mixed crowd of regulars made up of Falmer and Brighton locals then add the odd uni Student. The beer gardens are Suntraps and bike and dog friendly Match days are busy but the Burger and Pint on this day is good value. Pub grub is always good quality and plenty of it. Cosy at Christmas with fireplaces, fab Xmas meal and a raffle. Now has a Barn available for parties. One of my favorites.
Excellent little pub for home fans on a match day, excellent beer, well sticked and cared for. Busy but polite staff. A decent old fashioned pub. Love love love it.
The landlord should be a proud person.
I gave a 4 stars as it was a Saturday afternoon around lunch time but there wasn't much people in the place itself.
I went before like 5-6 years ago and it was a blast with tons of people with a lot of atmosphere, wish it could of been the same this time around.
I had a chocolate brownie with some ice cream and frozen raspberries and it just melted in my mouth what was really nice but would of enjoyed a little more firmness to it.
Staff were lovely and quick to respond to customers but maybe because it was slow what is expected for having quick service, Not being mean just truthful.
But all in all had a great time!
