Finally made it to Lucky Khao tonight.
We were still able to enjoy their March Fest menu , that had been extended for a week.
4 courses …. and they were delicious.
Two of us shared our food so we got to try many great dishes between us. We also got a little taster plate too.
We had a great time thanks to the very friendly staff. Had a chance to chat to one of the chefs too. Thank you Meg for taking great care of us.
We will be back soon.
We discovered Lucky Khao accidentally whilst going for brunch at Red Roaster and decided to give it a go the same day. The happiest accident ever! Food was absolutely delicious, service was excellent (although, a few too many check backs!) and we were so full we had to skip dessert. Every dish was wonderfully different, well seasoned and exceptionally tasty.
Noted lots of comments in other reviews about Food being too salty and too spicy and will argue this to say that the menu does say if you’d like less spice to just ask, as for the salt - this is subjective and as a chef I thought the salt level was spot on.
We will definitely be back when next in Brighton! Thank you!
We dropped in here after we made a booking with VIP pizza across the road and couldn't even get a table because they were fully packed out. Gave up and came here last minute. Really lovely staff who are accommodating and go beyond to make you feel welcome. The food was tasty and filling, although definitely on the steeper end of expensive. We expected a few of the portion sizes to be bigger for the price, especially the rice and the chicken. Vegetables in the drunken noodles could do with being sliced a little better. Lots of very chunky and crunchy bits of cabbage. Besides that, everything truly tasted incredible and it's well worth a visit.
Genuinely the main negative was the music. So unnecessarily loud and booming. I don't understand this need, specifically in restaurants and cafes, to play club music loud enough that you have to shout to hear each other across the table. Frustrating when you just want to have a nice meal out.
This place has a nice and relaxed atmosphere. Service was lovely and efficient.
We ordered few dishes and they came fairly quickly. The chicken lark was my favourite dish and I also really liked the sauce which came with the aubergine. The curry wasn’t really to my taste. Overall all dishes are flavourful however in my opinion they are all too salty. It either comes from soy sauce or maybe fish sauce but for sure it’s a bit too salty overall.
Presentation was nice and you can watch the chefs in the open kitchen doing their work.
We tried few non alcoholic cocktails and the passion fruit fizz is highly recommended.
Coffee is good too.
They also have a secret back garden for warm days like today (40.3 C in U.K.)
There is also a sink at the entrance where you can wash your hands which is a nice touch.
Delicious Thai food & flavours, from the crackers to the drunken noodles it was fab. A great atmosphere as soon as you walk in.
Thank you for the friendly service Bella & Ellie, and of course looking after our hound 🐶 (Yes you can take your dog 🫶🙌)
I had a lovely time at Lucky Khao. I had booked a table for 2 but then my partner was ill so in good old romantic Gassion I went on my own. The food was amazing and so tasty. I had the spring rolls, Khao Soi (coconut chicken curry to me) and chicken larb. I left so full and satisfied. I’ve added some photos to show but didn’t take many as didn’t want to look weird sitting at the table. All the staff I came across were friendly and so lovely. Izzy. B served me and she was so friendly and approachable and guided me on the dishes. (I think that’s who served me as her name was on the receipt so am hoping I’m right. Thank you so much Lucky Khao for a great evening. My other half wasn’t so happy she missed out!!
Such great food!!! We experienced the march fest. 4 dishes for £22. The portion sizes were just right and we got to experience a wide breadth of the menu, as my partner and I shared our choices. It was all so delicious!!!
We came for an early dinner on Saturday night and everything we ordered was fantastic. Loved the whole seabass especially and am still dreaming about the banana roti we had for dessert. The Jubel peach beer was new to me but was so refreshing with the Thai flavours. Also nice to see that the menu had some new items on it since we last visited. Shout out to Bella, our waitress, and to the rest of the team for great service all evening. We'll definitely be back.
Tried the OctoberFeast menu with the cocktail flight and have to say that we were not disappointed. Even though the portion sizes were relatively small, me and my partner both were quite full at the end of the dinner. I have to say I was super eager to try this place just for their infamous corn ribs and once I tried them I believe that everyone should. They were amazing. The chicken larb was also one of our favorites. The other dishes that we tried were mackerel ceviche, Chang mai hot dog, goat and sweet yellow curry, mango sticky rice and the cheesecake. All was very delicious. The cocktails were quite small but very delicious. We especially liked the one with the margarita with the chili. Definitely recommend trying!!
Excellent addition to the restaurant scene in Brighton. The food was delicious! I’m vegetarian so I was presented with many delicious options. The atmosphere is great and the staff were so accommodating and welcoming. We really enjoyed our meal and cannot wait to be back.
Great service and decent prices for the amazing food you’re getting! I’ve been three times now, but please add mango sticky rice to the menu!
What a find. We stumbled across the coffee shop one early morning , and was told about the evening switch to a Thai restaurant. Just visited, and was totally blown away. Brilliant food, great atmosphere. Brightons true hidden gem. 100% will be back. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ yes 6 stars !
Third time at Lucky Khao and the food and atmosphere is always on point. The staff are great too. We were served by Bella tonight who was next level amazing!
Bella was really lovely and super attentive even on a busy Saturday night. She talked us through the menu and offered great recommendations. The food was as amazing as I remembered it to be and nice atmosphere
Great authentic Thai street food. Small menu, but that's how it should be. Good music and friendly efficient staff.
We had such a great evening!! The staff were amazing 🤩 Bella, Tabby, Rudi and Cameron provided seamless service. We’ll be back. Food was delicious 😋
Great food! Omg this so authentic Thai street food, eating here make us come back to our trip to Thailand, all so fresh and aromatic. The goat curry was fantastic. We love the food so much, the only thing we didn’t like is that in the website and insta advertise a meal deal for Wednesday/Thursday night but when we went they said they don’t do it, so mixed message on that side, but the food is worth it! The staff was really friendly as well.
I dined here the other day and it was amazing. The food was the tastiest I’ve had in a while and very reasonably priced. Really good atmosphere and very friendly staff. Special shout-out to Bella our server, the service was brilliant. Also the beer tower is a must!
Lucky khao was recommended by my friend to try because we love Thai food; he said and quote “the best thai I had in the country”! And boy was he right!! We ordered BBQ sweetcorn ribs with coconut cream (ugh the explosion of flavors in this one; incredible), charcoal lemon grass chicken with jasmine rice and smoked brisket khao soi. The atmosphere was lovely and cozy with friendly staff. Totally worth trying 👍🏽😋
