I have been using this restaurant since it opened in Brighton and before that used the Lewes branch. It does a good range of vegetarian dishes and all of them that I have eaten are delicious. I understand from my meat eating friends they are good too. It is reasonably priced, excellent service and nice décor. Highly recommended and much better than most Indian restaurants.

We nearly cancelled our reservation after spotting several very negative reviews both on TripAdvisor and Google, but eventually we decided to go ahead, and I'm certainly glad we did. While the service was definitely a bit on the odd side (smiles were few and far between, dishes were placed on our table without much of an explanation, and the wait staff really didn't look too happy to be there), the food was very, very tasty and quite authentic. The mixed grill starter was extremely well seasoned and the chutneys and raita were fresh. The chilli paneer was also particularly good. The murg makhani was a bit on the sweet side but I think most would like it, while the prawn biryani definitely hit the spot. Am surprised that some people have commented on the portions being too small, they certainly felt more than enough and we left the restaurant feeling very full indeed. The service too was timely, we didn't end up waiting too long for meals or menus, so I'm not sure where the bad experiences are coming from. All in all, a very pleasant visit. Good Indian food at decent prices, and we will most likely return.

I love chaulas. Granted the one in Lewes is slightly better. The staff could be a bit more friendly & welcoming, but they know their dishes & can answer any of your questions, but you need to engage them first! There are quite a few vegan options on the menu & are all made to a Stirling standard. Baring these things in mind, I think anyone who visits would really enjoy their experience. A great little family run business.

Excellent service. We hired Chaula’s for our wedding, in a field in Sussex. Catered for 200 people. Everyone loved the food and wanted her restaurant details. They were very helpful on the run up to our wedding, and were super professional on the day. Thank you Chaula’s

Amazing food and service with a very cosy atmosphere. We spent this weekend in Brighton from London. I never expected it to taste so good. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavours, so fresh. Everything is cooked fresh. This place is well worth visiting. I would've paid more 😍

Very good restaurant with nice ambience. When we went, it wasn't much busy, couple of us and another small group of 4-5. We had ordered Thali (an Indian set meal)… which reasonably took longer than expected for the kind of food it was. Taste was very good but portion (especially Chapattis, only 1 provided) was small. We had Groupon voucher so it was OK for the price we paid but certainly for the menu price, it is not worth. I will go there again but not for the Thali for sure.

Good authentic Indian food, although a little on the heavier side (read oily and spicy)... Service is largely good.. this one time we asked for a dosa one hour after opening and they said they were out already; we were the only customers in the restaurant at that point!

(Translated by Google) Good and cheap! We had a very tasty meal here and quite cheaply for England! Service was attentive and friendly! We generally experienced on the island that the tables remained dirty, but here they were immediately wiped up and prepared for the next guests! Only recommended!

Tasty food, with good number of vegetarian dishes. We had chana masala and stuffed baby aubergines, both had just a hint of spice. They have nifty coloured lights decorating the ceiling. Service was attentive but not hovering and the food came in good time.

My girlfriend and I were looking for a good place to sit down for a curry in brighton and luckily we found this place first, the staff were absolutely lovely and very well mannered. The food was gorgeous and served beautifully, couldn't have asked for a better meal and a better experience.

I fancied a curry and this was the nearest to the hotel. It didn't look much on the outside, or the inside for that matter. The food, however, was fantastic. Nice atmosphere too.

Delicious and authentic food. Loved the dining experience and feel of the restaurant. Kingfisher beer adds the cherry on the cake!

Food was fabulous. Great non-fussy vegetarian selection. Be surprised if there was a tastier curry house in Brighton.
