Simply great burgers, and the service - albeit minimal, which is part of the concept - is very friendly.

Nice place to visit in brighton not the usual place as burger place. Nice drafts on tab. Also friendly atmosophere. Went in for a small bite and the way the serve it is a great way. Fries in a little bucket and the burger just not too big to bite. It pisses me off when you can't finf a way to have a good bite from bun with burger. Next year hopefully around during the Pride week and go for another try down there

Does what it says on the tin - great burgers in a nice atmosphere. We had to wait 20 minutes for our burgers, which we were told when we ordered because it was busy, but it took almost as long to get our drinks which was a bit annoying. The camemburger was tasty & the sweet potato fries were delicious - for £12 including a drink it was good value. As I said it was busy and as a result my friends chair kept getting hit as people squeezed past him which got irritating quite quickly do we didn't hang around.

Went for lunch with a friend first time ever been to the brand. Was pleasantly surprised. Really good burger and lush sweet potato fries. The only criticism I would give is we waited along time for our drinks but really loved the venue worth a visit

As a first time customer using your bathroom I felt so safe and at peace to facilitates, the warmth and comfort I felt put me at ease I felt very relaxed by the time my burger came. Thank you.

In the States, you could probably expect to find a handful of great burger joints in every city. Unfortunately, Brighton only has a few with one of the most consistent being Gourmet Burger Kitchen. Situated smack in the middle of the North Laines, GBK is a lively place that's quite busy in the week and rammed at weekends. They have seating indoors and out and the large dining area makes it perfect for big groups and kids birthday parties. The steep prices mean parents that decide to treat their kid had better check their wallets before inviting along the rest of the class! There's 28 different burgers on the menu, all made from tasty Aberdeen-Angus steak apart from the organic Laverstoke Park Farm range (which includes buffalo and wild boar). Seasoning wise, you can choose from cajun, chilli, BBQ, mexican and satay to more yuppy varieties like avacado and bacon. Vegetarians have a choice of falafel, puy lentil, mushroom or aubergine burgers but having sampled these, I'd recommend sticking to fries and milkshake. Really. The price of burgers range from £6-£8 but they charge an extra £2.75 for fries and an extra £1.55 for dipping sauces. The sauces are hand-made allegedly but I still think it's a little mean to charge for such small quantities. They also sell a small range of beers, wines, sodas and milkshakes. Don't go expecting a diner milkshake made from ice-cream, milk and valhrona though - these are much thinner and flavourless, hence 4 stars instead of 5!

If this is gourmet cooking, Raymond Blanc has a lot to answer for, and I have clearly misunderstood the definition of the word 'gourmet' my entire adult life. Do other gourmet have a bar where you order? And an aquarium with no fish in? And a wall that changes colour for no adequately explored reason? I'm nitpicking here: it is actually very good, just not what it purports to be. It's a burger bar: a big, outlandish decorated burger bar that quite literally spoils you for choice. Some of the combinations are unusual, as are some of the meats: you can keep you bison burger GBK, thank you very much. If you look past all that, the finished product is very good indeed: I've had some very tasty burgers here. They don't seem to be made to be eaten by hand, as they are quite simply too large to be held by normal humans, which is a bit strange, but foregiveable. Again, it's all too expensive, but I may as well tack that onto the end of most of my reviews of Brighton businesses: it's an expensive part of the country, folks! Still, if I want a burger that can be classed as evening meal in its own right, I'm liable to end up here.

OHH my gosh. Coming from greasy and oily burgers in America, this was a good first burger in the UK. A couple of friends and I came here because we had a coupon and I am pretty glad that I decided to join them that night. I was really debating if I should go or not because I didn't really think of coming to the UK for "American food". I got the BBQ burger and the patty was PERFECTLY cooked. No burnt areas at all and it wasn't undercooked at all. Also a side of large fries, not too greasy and not too thin. Although we were extremely hesitant about how to eat the burger because it was stacked so high that it was probably impossible to fit into our mouth and eat with our hands. Looking around we saw that almost everyone was using their utensils to cut and eat so we decided to eat the proper way. This resulted in burgers falling apart and a night full of laughs. I totally want to go back and try another burger but don't know if that's possible with the time I left here in the UK. Not sure if it's worth the price in becoming a regular because we had a buy 1 burger get the second for one pound. But it is definitely a place to try at least once.

Part of a growing national chain, the Gourmet Burger Kitchen is a guaranteed good meal for any burger fan. As you might expect from the name, the menu is entirely comprised of burgers and the expect accompaniments. On offer are about 20 different takes on the classic burger; ranging from the traditional hamburger, going all the way down to the Kiwi Burger (pineapple?!!?). I'm personally a fan of the Mexican burger, or if i'm feeling adventurous; the Chicken satay. The burgers are all cooked to order, and while a little pricey (between £6-8), they really are fantastic. They offer quite a few good incentives like discount cards and vouchers as well, a perfect excuse to return here time and time again.

This place is very good if your looking to have an 'up class' burger, rather than from the McDonalds pound menu. The burger are all made with angus steak with a wide range of ingredients, which makes the burgers extra special. Highly recommended aswell as the friendly staff

Great chicken burger, we’ve ordered grilled one and was delicious, full of flavour; there are vegetarian options too! you will need to order fries separately, and there is sweet potato ones, they are my favourite. Great service and very central in the heart of North lanes!

I have not been to a GBK before, found ourselves in the lanes debating where to go and chose here, and glad we did. As soon as we stepped in the door, we were greeted very warmly by a smiling member of staff that asked if we would prefer a table or a booth. The service he provided was very kind, helpful with the food choices and details, and recommended a very tasty and well cooked Korean burger. All the food was cooked well, tasted fresh, and was full of flavour. The tables were clean, the toilets were clean, and we didn't feel rushed or an inconvenience at all. A very pleasant meal. Thank you, Kai, for a great service!

Both milk shakes and the beef burgers are delicious!! But chicken burgers are dry and lack flavour. Not the biggest fan of their chips either. The staff is friendly and service is good. As for prices, compared to similar restaurants the prices are actually good. You can the the classic bundle for 14£ (classic burger, chips, and a milkshake of your choice).

Really impressed with the service at this branch. I came here yesterday with a friend who suffers from several major food intolerances, and our server--who I think may have been a manager--was incredibly considerate, making sure to check every item we requested and made necessary alterations so that my friend could safely enjoy his meal. The actual quality of the food was fantastic as well; my burger was especially delicious. One of the best branches of GBK around.

I had an absolutely awesome beef burger. The chunky fries were good. The place is lovely. The staff was very friendly. I had a great experience overall. (The place wasn’t very busy. It would assume it could be quite loud when it‘s full of people.)

We rocked up with a group of 10 on a Saturday evening without a booking and the staff were really friendly and found places for us to sit. All of our food came quickly and ordering on the app was easy. Our friend with peanut allergies was also well looked after. Food was brilliant as well!

Yet another nice GBK restaurant that is rarer to find nowadays. They have closed many branches in the past few years. I enjoyed my well cooked burger very much, juicy and not overdone like in many other chains.

Haven’t been for a while but was pleasantly surprised. Burger and chips for £7 & an order of onion rings (£3 and delicious). Lost a star as there was a happy hour for drinks but you couldn’t use this with the £7 burger deal.

Visited with a friend yesterday. Had the blue cheeseburger with melted stilton which was very nice, though wasn't keen on the coleslaw (but not my idea). Ladies (Aimee and another lady whose name we didn't get) both very helpful and menu flexible as well when I asked for one or two variants...

Burgers are usually pretty good, lots of variations and "guest" burger get rotated in the menu, always worth checking what's currently on. They used to have the most delicious salt, called "Hei Hei" salt (this is honestly borderline addictive on fries or one of their massive onion rings) - but they've recently stopped having it for some reason. Bring the Hei Hei salt back, GBK!! 🙏
