This place is awesome! I have never written a review before for a cafe but the food here was amazing, staff super friendly and prices reasonable! Genuinely this is a hidden gem, well worth the walk up the hill! Luckily we live just up the road! Soooo going here again... ๐
I contacted this cafe when looking for a small local venue to host my baby shower and Tony and the team were 5* helpful right from the beginning.
We worked together to put together a bespoke afternoon tea menu including a bubbly reception for a very reasonable cost and nothing was too much trouble.
The shower was held this Sunday for 32 people - we were able to use the whole place after it closed to the public for the day at 3pm, it was laid out perfectly and the afternoon tea that they catered would easily match any famous London hotel for 5* quality and presentation ( & I should know as I am a professional concierge!).
We had the MOST wonderful afternoon here and the atmosphere was perfect. If you are looking for a great place to have coffee, brunch or a special intimate event I thoroughly 100% recommend Starfish and Coffee :)

My partner and I came here for the first time this morning. Even though it was really busy, the owner took the time to greet us and make sure we were comfortable.
We both had the English Breakfast, I had an orange juice and my partner had an Americano. We had to wait a little bit for our food to arrive (presumably because it was so busy!) but when it came it not only looked great but tasted amazing too! The sausage in particular was delicious. Baked beans weren't as I expected (not like sugary beans from a can) but were great too. And I'll be the first to admit that I think poached eggs are a bit rubbish compared to scrambled or fried, but oh boy, the chef sure does know how to poach an egg perfectly!
It's perhaps a little bit pricey for us to be coming by regularly, but it'll definitely be our go-to for a special treat from now on.
Thanks so much!
stopped for a bite to eat on a bike ride A good looking place with Great food and coffee and friendly staff.. bonus was the prince music playing in the background..
Had lovely brunch this morning best pancakes I ever had and hubby enjoyed full English. Both agreed this is now one of our favourite places for brunch!
This gem of a cafe recently opened in Brighton - in summary, an oasis of excellence. Understated style and a relaxed ambiance set the scene on first encounter. Welcoming, friendly & attentive staff led by Tony Marks serve delicious food and coffee. It is clear much thought has been given as to how this cafe can meet the needs of the local community and visitors alike - it succeeds in abundance on both counts. Surely a rising 'Star' in the Brighton cafe scene - the clue is in the name, 'Starfish & Coffee'. Good luck Tony and team - live the dream, you deserve too. Looking forward to our next visit, almond croissants and latte's beckon + a taste of the meals from your varied, thoughtful menu.
Beautifully decorated, friendly staff, great menu. This is a new cafe and is doing brilliantly. The coffee is delicious and locally sourced along with most other ingredients used here. We went with our toddler and there is a good selection for her too. We will be back ๏ฟฝ
Welcoming staff, dog friendly and a great menu choice for the vegan/vegetarian visitors. Thumbs up from me!
Gorgeous cafe in a lovely location. There's so many different foods to choose from, and the Nutella pancakes I had were delicious! Would definitely recommend popping in and getting a cuppa at least, to enjoy this beautiful little cafe!
Absolutely brilliant. I'm a non-breakfast eater and this was one of the best breakfasts of my life. Highly recommend ๏ฟฝ

Lovely cafe...great choice on the menu and really well presented food. Love the coffee too. Would highly recommend. Just wish they'd open one up closer to me in Hove!
First visit for me today with my family (2 adults and 2 kids) and it was smashing. Great coffee and delicious food. Relaxed and friendly yet fantastic service. I really recommend it and I'll be back soon!
Thank you ๏ฟฝ
๐๐๐๐ - great coffee, cool staff and pretty neat menu!
I ordered the Crab Benedict and the poached egg was cooked so perfectly I just had to video it for ya'll ๐ซ
Usually quite booked up during peak times so I'd advise booking your table a day in advance at least!
Great atmosphere however it can get crowded, the food is fantastic and very tasty, you need to order additional poached eggs if you are ordering the avocado smash toast. Super friendly staff , definitely worth visiting while in Brighton.
I saw this coffee shop in the top 10 brunch places article online. It's a bit of a walk from Brighton seafront but so worth it! We went there for a hen do brunch and there's lots of different tasty options to accommodate everyone's dietary preferences or allergies. I had the avocado toast - it was different to any other avo toast I've tried ! It had different veggies and it was delicious. It was also light bit filling which was great for the sunny warm weather.
We loved the place, and the food was DELICIOUS! ๐ซฐ๐ฝ๐ฅ The staff were so pleasant and very attentive with the service.
It's a very well-known restaurant, so I recommend arriving early or making a previous book.
The BEST coffee shop in Brighton! Have been coming here regularly to buy my coffee because it's just great coffee. They have a loyalty scheme based around collecting points which is also quite nice as you can get some free coffee and discounted food. Their pastries are always reduced on Tuesdays which is really nice.
What I like most about this place is their staff, they're so nice and attentive, I always feel really welcome. Such good customer service, always smiling and in a positive mood.
The atmosphere is also amazing, it's a really clean space, they have outdoor seating too which is great.
Their food is 10/10, i have had their full english, autumn eggs, starfish eggs, bacon pancakes, rhubarb pancakes and i LOVED those dishes both the quantity and quality were there for the price you were paying.
They also gave me and my girlfriend a free brownie!
Met up with a friend for a catch up and a coffee, this place is charming. Barista was so friendly, welcoming and helpful. We didnโt order food but the brunch smelled and looked amazing. Will come back for food at some point. Be sure to make a reservation on the weekend!

Easily one of the best cafรฉs I've ever been to - Brighton or otherwise.
Great food, lovely staff, cozy cool atmosphere - perfect.
Delicious food! The BEST streaky bacon Ive ever had. Smooth rich coffee. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Weโre here visiting so they wrote up a list of other places to go visit. Will definitely return here on our next holiday!
