Gars is the best Chinese restaurant...without question. The food is top quality and the staff are brilliant, we are always made to feel welcome and they are never to busy for a chat. I can't recommend this restaurant enough...5 star all the way.
I've eaten at GARS manynt New and have never been served anything other than 1st class food and the staff are excellent at looking at after their customers.
The food was absolutely scrumptious and the staff couldn't do enough for you. Thoroughly enjoyable meal.
Service was good staff were very attentive. The salt and pepper squid and tempura prawns were amazing. We had a lovely evening. We would definitely go back.
Large (x8) group over bank holiday weekend - didn't have a booking but good timing meant they could fit us in. Was easy to have a few of each of the set menus and all the food was great. Service was super - every single waiter/waitress was lovely and attentive. Would highly recommend �
Had an amazing dinner. Really helped with my daughter of 10 who needs gluten free. Although shame the prawn crackers weren’t gluten free.

What can I say? The food - choice and taste, was exceptional. The staff made us feel like we were the only people there (restaurant was full). The atmosphere was relaxed and fun. Definitely will be going again!
Had my Valentine’s Day dinner here and it was perfect. Staff were so lovely, the food was amazing, atmosphere was very romantic and intimate even though the restaurant was quite full. Had the set menu and everything was delicious, would definitely come back!
came here for my boyfriend’s birthday. staff were super friendly and gave us a birthday treat for free. they were very kind. the food was delicious. quite expensive but food portion sizes are good. great restaurant. will be coming back.

Started dating a guy couple of weeks before this and previously had a running joke we’d tried and failed to have a Chinese meal the few short times we get to meet up.
My bf booked this for us as a little surprise and turned out to be a fabulous experience.
The gentleman server (quite possibly an owner and/or manager) was friendly and a delight to deal with throughout and the food was top notch.
Starters arrived promptly and boiling hot. Both the pork dumplings and the salt, pepper and chilli king prawns were well presented and tasty.
Followed up by crispy duck which again was well presented and delicious.
I had chicken with ginger and spring onion and my bf had Cantonese duck. Steamed and egg fried rice between us too. Again well presented and delicious food. Not a single complaint and I tried both mains.
And although he insisted on paying I don’t recall it being stupidly priced either considering he had some Prosecco and I had a couple of cokes.
Tasty food. Well presented. Helpful friendly staff. Highly recommended. No wonder this place has been serving Brighton since 1983.
As this was our first official date as a couple we might have to make at least annual if not more regular visits.
What a great surprise. Not having been here for a few years I was not sure that it would live up to what I remembered: I need not have worried. It was a Friday evening so we were luck yo to get a table and very happy we did. The service is attentive but not over the top, friendly and professional. The food surpassed expectations and had wonderful and balanced flavoured. Portions are just the right size, we had five dishes to share and was just perfect, didn't feel stuffed but just the comfortable full feel. This is definitely a place to visit, relax eat and leave full.
Tolles Restaurant. Einer der wenigen Restaurants, die es hinbekommen, dass auch die Plätze draußen schon aussehen. Man sitzt zwar direkt an der Straße, doch durch die Abgrenzung wirkt es nicht so schlimm. Wir bekamen decken gereicht, dass es Abend kühl wurde. Die Bedienung hat alles ermöglicht was wir uns gewünscht haben. Das Essen war sehr lecker. Sehr zu empfehlen. Gerne kommen wir wieder.

Great restaurant. One of the few restaurants that manages to make the outside seating look good too. You're sitting right on the street, but the demarcation means it doesn't seem so bad. We were given blankets so that it became cool in the evening. The service made everything we wanted possible. The food was very tasty. We recommend. We would be happy to come back.

Gars is an upmarket Chinese restaurant with a great range of pan-asian dishes available. We went as a table of two on a Friday and it did get busy/noisy near the end but otherwise food and service were top notch. We decided on one of the set menus, which we found mostly excellent, with the pork belly being just ok. The first course platter was a flavour and visual feast with scallops, king prawns, chicken satay and squid. Next up crispy duck pancakes, which I always find fun to build, the duck was super crisp and tasty. We were quite stuffed by the 3rd course, but had to polish off the kung po prawns as they had amazing flavour. All round a great experience.
A really well run Restaurant. Excellent service and a great welcome for a first time customer. You can tell straight away this is owner managed. It ticked all the boxes, very good service and food, spotlessly clean and a great atmosphere. I will 100% go back when next in Brighton.

A very stylish and flashy restaurant, perfect for date night. The food was incredible (with lots of VG and GF options). The staff were very nice too and flexible as we had to extend our booking a few times. If you like great food, flash and 5 star service, this is your place!
Visited on a Sunday evening - wasn’t busy, maybe 3 or 4 groups were there.
Staff were very attentive and quick to take orders, collect plates etc.
Food was delicious and arrived promptly. Portion sizes were also good.
I can’t list any faults, so I would definitely recommend.
