Thought we'd try it as we are fans of the Soho Tavern in Birmingham. This lived up to the high expectations we had. Staff friendly day and place done out nice. The food is amazing. Had a mixed grill, chilli chips and naan and could not fault any of it. £35 for all that food and a couple of drinks is good because of the good quality. Just when I thought the Waterfront was dead. If you like Indian food you must go here!!!
Edit: came here again and even better than the first time. Amazing!
There were no issues on our visit this Friday night apart from the lack of mask wearing by the staff and customers alike.
I liked the place, it's been refurbished to a decent standard but there is a bit of a canteen vibe regarding the seating and layout. In addition the "disco" started up at around 7.15pm which we old fogeys could have done without.
It's quite an extensive menu although unlike Bangladeshi restaurants my wife found the choice of curries for her rather limited, I was OK though. As is common in Indian restaurants these days there appears to be a concentration on tapas & grill food.
You can either pay up front at the bar or order via the QR code on your table. The food we had was very good although I would have liked an onion salad with the poppadoms and I prefer a more "home style" pilau rice. The drinks choice is also very good and I really enjoyed my Batham's bitter. I suggest the prices aren't bad considering the level of rent they are probably paying. The service was pleasant enough although some of the staff were not quite clued up on the characteristics of the dishes.
Nice location with outdoor seating and convenient free parking.

Nice restaurant with good food. There are many Indian restaurants around the Dudley area, so it's tough competition. I enjoyed the food, there was plenty for the price and the atmosphere was good, especially for a Wednesday.
I was worried about finding parking down the canal, but actually there were plenty of spaces just outside.
Great selection of food. Mine was OK, more personal preference than anything to do with the meal. My business colleague loved his
Atmosphere was fine but it was mid week so a bit quiet
I’ll try again
It was my first time going there a month ago.
Friendly and welcoming staff.
Good level of covid-19 measures and sanitiser on all tables.
The food was very nice and hot.
Good table service.
Reasonable prices for the quality of food and location.
We had beers and cocktails, all good. Curry mains were nice all round. Railway Cabin Lamb - the meat was tender, all the various rices we each had were correctly cooked and the rice fluffy.
Pleasant atmosphere, nice wait staff so all in all, pretty good and would certainly go again in the future.
I've been wanting to check out the Indian Tavern for a long time now. So I took my wife out on a date night. What we received and the quality of food we received were amazing. When we return, we will bring a larger group so they can experience what me and my wife did.
Once we came, we have repeated our visit. We visit family in the Midlands but will continue to come here every time we visit as food is great! Last time we went they had technical difficulties and explained waiting times may be longer etc. But there was no change, we received our food and drinks in a timely manner. Staff are very friendly too.
Although i think its a little over priced. The food was very nice. The taverns special grill had plenty on it. I took 2 thirds home lol But they dont do any english food only kids menu. Which was poor.
First time at the Indian Tavern just turned up and grabbed a table outside used the app as instructed.
Ordered food and drinks then it started to rain put up umbrella but rain was to much for umbrella had to go inside. At first the young lad was not going to give us a table because we hadn't booked. He was told what do you want us to do sit outside in the rain and eat our food we had Ordered. He quickly found me and my wife a small table and brought us our food. Got to say it was the best Indian food I've tasted in a very long time, I had the vegetable biryani and my wife had chicken jalfrezi and a naan bread lovely food and good service.
Phenomenal food, cannot fault it at all. The staff are a delight and I would come back time and time again. Haven't had beautiful cocktails like this since being in the city centre 😅. Loved it.
Where to start! Very nice bar. Food and drink can all be ordered from the app whilst at your table. The mixed grill was absolutely delicious. The lamb chops tender as anything. Only disappointment 2 pieces of fish pakora. Otherwise bang on. The chilli chips were smashing along with the fresh garlic naan. Chill paneer hits the spot. Also to note the venue is nice and clean including the toilets. We have new favourite place!
Today it was a good day with the bride and all of us bridesmaid .I also love their cocktails and the food it's so delicious and piping hot the vegetable noodles it's amazing . I would order one day and also the Vanilla mojito was so amazing thankyou to Jay and to the Indian man I'd come again hopefully with my family
