The full set of Palmers beers with plenty of other options and it's a big old friendly handsome quirky Boozer with nice soft lighting and live music even on Sunday afternoons. The pictures and objects on the wall including rock memorabilia look expensive. There are loads of comfy odd chairs and tables in which you can hide or show off at your own pleasure and there are seats out the back for smokers and fresh airers. The food is reasonable, tasty and traditional and the toilets are near and well kept. It's the best pub in Wessex because it not only ticks all the boxes it feels like every great pub should be. A refuge from the workaday world - a light in the darkness with good cheers and bonhomie - a reliable port in a storm.

Lovely pub, friendly staff and wonderful local Palmers beers, brewed less than a mile down the road. We didn't eat but judging by the number of guests who were it's good fare.

A good, versatile and atmospheric pub, with really nice food, not a huge range but nice. Entertainment every weekend, 15 nights in June, Oh, and a great selection of real ales, cold lagers and cold ciders, great place to be, lunchtime or evening - if you are a pub lover, this one is right up your street. 🍺👍🍹🍷🍸🥂

Always a good pint of real ale, Tally ho and 200 the best on show, a bit of a queue as only one barstaff on, but still a great pub

We went to see the brilliant Bemis at this pub. They were marvellous, as ever! The pub doesn't have soft drinks on tap and therefore they were horrendously expensive. £ 3.40 for a pint of soda water, usually this is free or maybe £1 in most pubs.

This really is a highlight of Bridport, in my humble opinion the best bar in town and the selection of drinks is second to none. Enjoy 🍻

Last Sunday was our first visit to the Ropemakers. Good homecooked food. As there was a mix up with the food orders, which meant we had to wait a little longer than usual, we were given two free drinks by way of an apology (a large glass of wine and a Pimms and lemonade). We thought that was a very kind gesture by the lady. We will be returning.

A fair walk from our campsite but worth twice the walk; friendly staff, good beer and food, with water and biscuits for our dog and an excellent range of entertainment. The sort of pub you'd want 50 metres from your house

It's a very busy pub. Lovely land lady, known her for many years. Hubby's played there in the past, with his Sunset Cafe Stompers. The band are there once every third month. We'll eat there nxt time.

Always my favourite place to visit when I return to Dorset! Super food, staff and intriguing decor. Also lots of social activities available if you live near the pub available!! Although it was a rainy day so was even more busy than usual around lunch we found a comfy corner and we're soon served tasty pub food!

Traditional Dorset pub, full to the rafters with all kinds of curios! Great local ales and live music on Friday and Saturday night (both folk and skiffle) were perfect additions.
