It a bad place but bit chilly for us sorry to say. I had the pie which was ok but not amazing but lots of it and large portion of chips.

I can't comment on food and hospitality as the pub was closed upon our arrival 'on spec' (googling for opening is suggested to avoid disappointment), this pub which is located at the boundary crossroads between Shropshire and Staffordshire. This makes it an important place for students of British medieval history as it was a location known to the Welsh hero Owain Glyndwr and Iolo Goch in the 15th century (and possibly Myrddin earlier), as a sacred spot mentioned in Welsh prophecy. It was to be the place where he intended to confront the English, fulfil the ancient Welsh prophecies and establish a boundary between a greater Wales and England. So it gets 5 stars from me for location alone. 👍

Went for a date night with the hubby. It was grill night. Hubby had steak I had the poachers wife chicken. Absolutely wonderful, real chunky chips cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend.

Was tempted to stop yesterday and stayed in the beer garden which has been done up nicely. Unlike some other pubs I have been to lateley they are complying to the Covid-19 requirements, have a sanitiser upon entry, offer table service and take your contact details before they serve you.
Disappointing was the choice of Lager which was Carling only and I would suggest to change the menu and offer some more typical pub type snacks such as steak sandwiches or a choice of baguettes/sandwiches.

We have been to the Six Ashes a few times now and it is a lovely pub with a very friendly dog and the staff are wonderful. There is also a very warm fire that you can sit by and the food and drinks are amazing. In addition there is a beer garden that it lovely and spacious. We will be visiting the Six Ashes soon for yet another delicious home cooked meal. Can't wait!!!

Fantastic service, made welcome as soon as we walked in. An old fashioned pub, wish there were more like it. The food was well presented and plentiful. We will go back.

I have had a few pints here occasionally when I was in my mid twenties doing a tour of the local pubs in the area. They served Banks's beers then, typical country pub, but don't go there for a pint at last orders if you have had a few pints at the local cider house, you would be refused ordering a drink.

Excellent food and friendly service, lovely pub - had a great meal with the family but suddenly closed without warning while we were eating and left a couple unable to get drinks they had already paid for. Would definitely eat there again but would appreciate being told if the pub is going to close while we are there.

Just had Sunday lunch roast lamb with all the trimmings. Beautiful would have cleared all the vegetable platter but needed to leave room for pudding. Will definitely be back with all the family

If you like country pubs then on a lovely day the beer garden is relaxing - if you're lucky then hens and ducks will be milling around and a lovable dog who tends to greet anyone coming through the gate 😁

My husband and I went to our favourite pub Six Ashes. Always enjoyable meals and such friendly staff, with a lovely greeting from Brock the Border Collie. It is such a pity that we're not able to go every week as we travel from Great Barr. So worth a visit such a pretty pub.
