It's probably the best fish and chips I've ever had in all honesty. Lovely cafe to sit down in, and the service was very quick. The chips were fluffy and perfectly cooked. The fish was massive, and the batter tasted amazing. Then, the ice cream sundae to follow was nice to top it off. Staff very friendly.

My favourite Fish and Chip shop in the United Kingdom. Set in the beautiful village of Allanwater, you can choose to dine in, in the cafe, or go to the “take away” side. Now I have been here a number of times and decided on a take away as it was sunny and my little boy wanted to play out: I got the “Medium” fish supper, my other half got a Jacket Potato (she’s on a diet!) and Macaroni Cheese for my son. Food as ever was sublime, beautiful and my little boy, the harshest critique, loved and ate all his Macaroni and Chips! Win win, lovely little day out to here it never ever disappoints.

Excellent (possibly the best) fish and chips & friendly staff. Good quality tartar sauce and mushy peas helped to elevate the perfectly battered and fried fish. Will definitely be back. They are even dog friendly 🐕

Breakfast with my sister, she had the scrambled eggs and black pudding with toast. I went for a BLT, which was a first rate sandwich. Tea in a pot (no bag-in-a-mug) with extra hot water, without asking and a warm, friendly lady bringing everything with a smile. How refreshing.

The fish and chips are up there with the best. Good portion size, I had small, that was plenty. Perfect chip shop chips, crispy batter on the fish. Perfect.

A hidden place for Fish & Chips. In my opinion the best in the UK! They make it simple, traditional, and unforgettable. The interior is not too fancy, perfect to hang around with friends or just treat yourself in a day. Ordered a Breaded Fish Tea set. The fish is crispy outside and soft inside. A wide selection of teas and gelatos offered as well. Turkish Delight flavour is soooo refreshing, you even find tiny sweet cubes mixed in it. Overall a super fulfilling meal. All inclusive main, drink and dessert for just €12. The staff are all kind and helpful. Now I know why the cafe stands for a century. Definitely driving me back for more <3

It was busy when we went in - it is always a good sign. We ordered a haggis and a small fish supper and they were absolutely lovely. The batter was light and fish was very fresh. The small fish portion was generous. We were very interested in the ice cream but were too full to try any. Will try it next time tho!

Fantastic Fish and Chip cafe, have been coming here for years and visited yesterday and the food was fantastic. The small fish and chips with mushy peas was a great piece of fish in crispy batter, served quickly in a lovely atmosphere.

Steak pie was fantastic! Breaded haddock was good, but unexpected. Battered haddock tastes the best. Rocky road was sad, no crunchy road bits at all just soft bites :(. Ice cream is very tasty and worth the detour. Toilets have very limited space and require you to bend down to enter. Great place for dinner and I will come back again!

Have been a frequent customer since early ‘80’s. Food is consistently high. Hadn’t been for two years due to Covid but visited recently and food was exceptionally good. Disappointed to discover that having been asked when order taken if Tartare Sauce was wanted I was amazed to then be charged an extra £1.20 for this. Moreso since it wasn’t particularly enjoyable. Attitude at the checkout was apathetic and dismissive, Arrogant and couldn’t care less. Spoiled the experience.
