Absolutely the best country pub I've been in. Lovely atmosphere, friendly helpful staff. Great food and great beer. Wish I lived in the village it would definitely be my local.

We had gorgeous meals when we stopped here for lunch when on a day trip in the Cotswolds. The location was beautiful with pretty flowers growing in the beer garden. We had shade under a purpose built shelter outside with comfortable chairs and a large table and the service was good. I ordered beef ribs on a bed of mash, my husband ordered a home made pie and the rest of the family ordered the fish and chips. All the food was really good as it tasted home cooked and portion sizes were big too. We thought it was good value for the money and would definitely return if in the area.

We visited a few weeks ago and were immediately greeted by morris dancers at the front of the building. The pub garden is huge and there seemed to be a function on, maybe a wedding? Once inside we ordered food but there was quite a queue. This gave us a chance to admire the fantastic decor, no wonder NT have this place under their wings! Our food was extremely good but did take a little time which wasn't a problem. Beautiful pub, beautiful atmosphere and excellent service in a stunning pub.

Amazing oldie worldie pub in the lovely countryside. The grounds were big and always somewhere to sit for a nice drink out in the garden. The food was delicious 😋, we had booked for the following evening and glad we did ad it was very busy. Would definitely recommend it

An historic pub full of character. Plenty of tables for outside eating with a small play area for children available. The pub is very dog friendly, inside and out. Staff are friendly and efficient. The menu was extensive- we ordered fish and chips with crushed peas and roast lamb- both were delicious. If you're eating outside take your own mint sauce!

Last minute booking for Sunday lunch. Excellent online booking service. On arrival placed on table 24. A wonderfully quirky converted horse box! Amazing. Roast beef and pork were outstanding, service was brilliant. Kids portions were generous. They have a lovely orchard garden for the kids to play too. Quintessentially English, very National Trust.

There for a party in the barn.Camped in the orchard. Very relaxed atmosphere. Lunch time snack of soup and bread was good. Pizza van available in evening. Party next day was set up beautifully by staff. Full English breakfast in the morning was best I've had. History of the building is interesting.

Food was fantastic - the pie was amazing - drinks were good served by knowledgeable staff and the service was good too. The place itself was very quirky - dark and seemingly untouched for centuries - very atmospheric! We loved it and wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend it.

Spent 10 hours here at a wedding. Absolutely perfect. Great facilities, nice old barn for the service and food. Lovely large garden for us all to enjoy, games for the kids. Marquee for music and more food and pizzas, cooked outside for guests. I can't rate it more highly. Good selection of beers too. Brilliant!

The most delightful evening of our trip. You can smell the woodsmoke embedded in the timber. The history of the building wraps you in a huge welcome, blessed are they who call this pub their local. The staff are kind, attentive, and efficient , delivering food that is next level. We had the best time.

A fabulously historic and interesting pub, as well as being cosy, friendly and serving good beer. I went for the Thursday night, open songs+tunes session which was also very friendly. I didn't eat there, but I got a glowing report on the food from a regular customer who I met at the bar.

Nice place quite local. Fast service and delicious tasting roast chicken / gravy although for almost £18 i’d expect a hotter meal and a normal or generous serving of vegetables. It was 6pm They were relatively busy so its forgiven this time

Good traditional pub, bit of a grumpy barman though. Garden looks a bit worn out, although there’s plenty of room. Chicken burger etc was pretty good & reasonable value. Car parking the lunchtime we called in was a bit difficult

Always love stopping off here on a long north/south journey. The best pub in the country, old and quirky, big gardens for children and dogs, wonderful local beers and ciders and excellent food. Staff are superb, friendly, efficient and competent. Wish I lived nearer! Photo of Sunday roast beef and Uley Pig's Ear.

A more wonderful pub to stop in. Open the door and the journey into the 19th century begins. The wood, the atmosphere and the interior design give us an idea of what it was like here in 1850. The food corresponds to a creative cosmopolitan cuisine and very good value for money. A must is the asparagus season and the dishes that go with it. The service is very friendly and courteous. Definitely worth a visit to the beautiful region.
