Love this place the staff are so nice & Very helpful
The food is to die for the Specials set lunch as excellent value for money
If you love Indian food, a relaxed atmosphere and one of the best locations in west London, then you should check out the Guru. Reserve a table overlooking the river and then just settle down to enjoy the feast. All this and at a very good value price too!!!
Lovely food friendly staff and great value for money
Lovely place by the river with fantastic food and really great staff.
More than happy, the food was great, which in my view is the most important thing.
Great Food. I have been to the Watermans on several occasions, firstly to use the cinema which shows art house films and now primarily to use the cafe and restaurant - the Guru Tandoori - as the weather improves. The food at the Guru Tandoori is very good indeed - the lunchtime £3.99 is available on Saturdays as well as during the week. The curries are very tasty without being too hot. As I said I have been to the cinema there because there is free parking and it is only a fiver on Mondays. What I like most about the Guru Tandoori is the ambiance and the fact that it overlooks the river. The staff are very friendly and you can tell that there a lot of regulars. I believe that the Watermans could do with better marketing but I am not complaining.
Lovely Food-Great Place to Dine and Relax-Polite Staff. I had dinner from Guru Tandoori several times and I am completely satisfied with the way they personalise Indian food. (hot, mild, creamy, sweet) It is very hygienic and my stomach been always healthy after eating from there. Staff are wonderful but I feel that they are stretched out because of the location of the bar. I saw them extremely struggling during the middle of the year when they tried to serve some special cinema and dinner offer. Their food is usually delicious but I saw some review that the food is bad. It could be because they were overstretched during that time. I would recommend people to dine there for sure. It is cheap but really posh near the banks of Thames. It is a wonderful place for a quiet date or for friends. i have taken many of my friends there and all liked the food especially Tandoori Chicken, Butter Chicken and any Nan. Good thing is that the environment is very relaxed. You should give enough time for them to cook good food because Indian food needs time to get cooked.
Hidden Gem.. You'd never find it unless you knew it was there... since this trad Indian restaurant is hidden away in the basement of the Watermans Arts Centre in Brentford. Most people, I guess, discover it by accident (coming to see a film or something in the theatre), but it's worth a visit in its own right. The food's solidly good and competitively priced (although there's nothing particularly distinctive about the menu), and while the service isn't blisteringly keen, it's friendly and unpretentious. In summer, you can take your drinks outside (where there's a decent view of one of the quieter bits of the Thames), and - perhaps because it's not very well known - it's generally possible to stroll up and get a decent table without booking. The best time to try out the restaurant is probably as part of one of the Watermans 'Comedy & Curry' nights, which they run on many Sunday nights. A restaurant well worth knowing about.
Delicious Goan food at reasonable price. Went to see a good film at the Watermans's Art Centre then strolled out and sat doiwn for a meal at Guru Tandoori which is just outside the cinema within the arts complex. We had a delcious meal which included a Goan speciality chicken dish with chickpeas, also had a succulent Chicken Tikka Massala and a fresh tasting aloe gobi all washed down with cold Kingfisher; charming service made this a great film and curry night.
This place is not visible from the main road because it is inside the cinema building. We followed google map still missed it and had to turn around and kind of guessed of where it was. We ordered chicken tandoori which was very nice and tasty. Also on the side, we had chicken samosas, I must say they were the best chicken samosas I've ever had in my life! Service was pretty quick and the staff who served us was very attentive. The only downside is, the ambience is somewhat not very inviting, decor was dark..way too dark and a bit eerie.
PS. Bear in mind the bill isn't included tip.
We had a fantastic meal at the Guru Tandoori last night (Friday night). Thanks to others' review comments we had no trouble finding it, so that all worked out fine (thanks to others for sharing the detail). Our waiter was welcoming and helpful in respect of allergy advice and our menu choice.
Disagree with comments about the venue being dingy - we absolutely loved the atmosphere and the quirky setting.
Our table was right by the window and although it was dark outside (so no view of the river) the moon was just about full so there was lots of glistening water alongside us for the first part of our meal (until the tide went out)! This, along with the ambient lighting inside was lovely for us - I'm hypersensitive to harsh lighting, so I'd totally recommend this venue as ideal if you also struggle with this.
Also totally recommend the food. I had prawn biryani, very good indeed, no scrimping on the prawns or the flavour - best I've had in a VERY long time. My husband had the vegetable dhansak which he found very tasty. The menu had plenty of choice and was very reasonably priced too.
Lovely meal, great service. We were staying in the area (Novotel Brentford) for a visit to Kew Gardens so if you're doing similar we'd heartily recommend eating here after a day in the gardens, it was the perfect end to a very good day.
Quite hard to find. Go down the first parking building ramp and you will see some signs, I have included in my review.
The food was absolutely outstanding. Good presentation and delicious! Very kind and friendly staff 😍
Very good Asian style food like tandoori chicken, lamb seek kabab, paneer Tikka, chicken Tikka masala along with good Naan options. They also have express meal option. Ambience is good with good service. Timing is the only challenge. Must visit for Asian food lovers.
Great tasting food, fairly swift delivery time.
Disappointed with the accompaniments to the popadums tho, just 1 small tub of pickle and 1 small tub of mango chutney between 2 people is hardly sufficient to compliment the popadums, I realise these are complimentary but they are ESSENTIAL to the meal.
Please look to address this spicy issue but nevertheless in the words of Arnie "we'll be back"
Best curry house in the area, we stayed in a local hotel and found this place by the Thames river. Absolutely the best curry, friendly service and atmosphere, well recommended 👍
Must visit place for great Indian cuisine. Francis has done a wonderful job. The Goan Fish curry with rice is a must try. Kudos team Gurus tandoori, Thank you Francis and Anish for the lovely time
Great tasting food and reasonably priced.
Three of us Thurs evening had the most fabulous meal. The staff friendly, atmosphere homely, the food devine. If we lived nearer it would definitely become our local . Highly recommended.
Great service! Delicious Goan fish curry, fluffy Naan & tasty aloo gobi- all overlooking the river. Good value & you can also go to the cinema at Watermans.
