This is a fantastic Wetherspoon. The building has loads of tables, tons of character and incredible toilets! The location is amazing - being in Brecon you have stunning views of the dramatic Beacons backdrop. We stopped in for a breakfast on our way to hike up Pen y Fan and the breakfast was top-notch. Customer service skills of the server at the bar were appalling, sadly, but maybe she was having a bad day. Stars off for that, nonetheless but rescued by the waiting staff.
We stayed in the hotel, it was lovely and clean. Really good value for money. Nice and spacious room, with a really nice bathroom. All the usuals you would expect in a hotel room but nice touch to have bottled water and a proper hairdryer. We were travelling with bikes which were stored in a locked storage shed that only the managers have keys to which was really helpful. All the staff we came across were really friendly and efficient. We had breakfast in the morning, service was quick and checkout was easy. We would definitely stay again.
Good location, especially if you like hiking.
Brunch was okay, warm not hot. It went down well though. Clean and presentable. Quick and friendly service. Vary spacious with lots of books and cranny’s. Today was very quiet despite the wet weather.
At a loose end in Brecon early on a Sunday morning - that’s another story - nowhere else was open for another hour at least. The George Hotel not only opened at 07:00, but offers unbeatable value, free refills from the coffee machine as long as you like, and faultless, prompt service. Good bacon and egg muffin, comfortable surroundings, you may have your own opinion on Wetherspoons in general, but for me this was a five star place to spend the morning.
Decent quality food and drink, nice decor, and probably best place for a drink in Brecon as there are so few pubs in the town.
This is one of the hotels in the chain.
There is a large pay and display car park nearby, serving the town centre generally.
It has multiple eating and drinking rooms, and a sizeable outside area.
Like most Wetherspoons, it is finished off with some attention to detail. There are some art and local history prints in various parts of the pub.
I didn't stay in the hotel. I was passing through the town.
Really nice interior very oldie world and well kept. Seating outside and lots rooms inside...up a side street but we'll able to see from main street.
On our visit the service was prompt and friendly, the food was of a good standard and arrived hot and in good time. When I ordered drinks one of the barrels was being charged, this drink was delivered to our table to avoid me waiting at the bar.
Very relaxed atmosphere, staff very welcoming and food value for money, always eat here when ever in Brecon.
It is the old George Hotel convertes to w Wetherspoons now. Went for a late lunch. Quick service and friendly stuff. Great atmosphere—a wide variety of seating options were available, which was a pleasent suprise.
Really nice and approachable staff, clean and tidy pub. We used the app but the service we got was really nice and polite.
Free WiFi which is always a bonus to Wetherspoons. We also had a booth that had a plug to charge phones and powerbanks whilst out walking which was really helpful.
Would recommend to by passers and people from the area.
