Absolutely amazing food! Fresh and delicious, cooked to perfection. Home cooking at its best, and really good value at that. I had the vegetarian curry and honestly it was the best curry I've ever had. Nice local cider too! Staff were also really friendly, a great little local place. Also a really nice garden backing on to the canal. Highly recommend!

We came twice in one day. Afternoon drinks and evening meal. Great beer. Excellent food and great value for money. Staff were very welcoming. We parked by the beer garden with a boat and stayed overnight.

It's a very good honest pub. Popular with locals, and holidaymakers. Garden beside the canal makes for an enjoyable summer's evening.

Great real ale pub with some fine beers. Good honest pub grub served with a smile. The venison burger was delicious. Nice walks along the canal in either direction.

One of my new favourite places! What a little gem of a place. Walked for about an hour along the canal from Talybont farm campsite to find the loveliest little beer garden, a welcome sight in the heat we have had recently. The garden has 3 tiers with picnic benches and there is also a shaded area on the decking. Food was great too, the menu is displayed on a board in the garden. They do a great cider made locally that you must try just don't get too close to the canal after you've had one or two! A very welcoming pub with lovely owners and helpful staff. See you all again soon.

Whether you're in the area for hiking, cycling, visiting, or just passing through, this Welsh Gastro Pub is a hidden gem. Everything on their menu is homemade, and the service is exceptional, thanks to the warm and friendly hosts who make you feel right at home. After a day of hiking, my friend and I were craving a hearty meal and some good beer, and this place delivered. The steak pie was an absolute masterpiece, and my friend thoroughly enjoyed the gammon. These delicious dishes were perfectly complemented by their selection of robust beers, all in a cozy and inviting atmosphere. It was the ideal way to end a perfect day. We will be back!

The Royal Oak is an ACE place. We loved it. Excellent service, home made food to die for and a wide selection on the menu. The choice of well kept beers was on par with the food. Two log burning stoves as well. Clean and well decorated. Just quality.

The Royal Oak is situated by the side of the canal, it has a beer garden that backs onto the canal and you can also eat in doors. Due to covid restrictions it's best to phone up and book a reservation if there are a lot of you going. We had a party of 8, six adults and two children and we were able to get seating close to one another. The staff were great with the kids. And the food was very nice. Would recommend.
