We enjoyed dinner here 2 nights in a row as it was good the first night, great burgers and pizzas ( I didn't find out about the burger eating competition until after I had my dinner the second night). Staff were all friendly, and the Madri was great - so good there was none the second night. I'll do my best to stop off again if I am in the area for work. Only complaint was the bench outside was a bit wobbly, but not enough to ruin a night, perhaps added to the character of the place a bit.
Popped in early on a Sunday for a roast and a pint. Warm reception from the owner. Some nice outdoor seating overlooking the green. In my opinion roasts are very hard to get right. We had beef and chicken and both were cooked really well. Loved the roast potatoes and the extra runner beans and bacon. Another great touch was the gravy for the beef and a chicken gravy for the chicken. Having moved back into the area it’s great to have this pub on our doorstep. Overall found it very welcoming and good value for money with generous portions.
Had a wonderful meal for 5 here on Friday.
4 perfectly cooked steaks, crispy piping hot fries.
Ribs fresh out of the smoker were perfect.
Casual friendly service, dogs welcome.
Chef came out to speak to us and made us special liquor desserts.

Found the little gem. Their famous handmade pizza was an absolute delight, bursting with flavor and incredibly delicious, the Sunday roast withimpeccable meat quality that was truly spot-on. I highly recommend this place.
What a great local restaurant we have! Here you can see We had a ribs meal and a pizza. I’m not lying when I say the ribs fell off the bone, you can tell the pizza was freshly made! - both beautifully presented! Amazing!
Phenomenal. Amazing food, brilliant vegan options (not vegan, but love it). The jackfruit wings are to die for, the vegan steak burger is excellent. Amazing chef, large portions, excellent service and drinks too. 15/10 will absolutely travel out of London to come here again. Thanks Christopher and Georgie

My wife and I had Sunday lunch today. The food was fantastic. My wife asked only for leg meat and was given to leg quarters. All served up with fresh vegetables and chicken and beef gravy
Stopped off on our way back to Essex and super glad we did.
Had the biggest juiciest plate of ribs the best I’ve ever had.
Everyone so kind and accommodating would definitely go back again and again.
Had a rare opportunity for Sunday Lunch with my husband and a headed down to HOTG. Roast beef and a good pint went down so well. Beef was just right with crunchy roast potatoes, tasty fresh vegetables and a generous portion of delicious gravy on the side. We were asked how we wanted our beef done too. The service was excellent with a warm welcome and ensuring we had everything we needed. Just perfect.

Been going to The Hare On The Green since before Covid hit this country and although we’ve moved 10 miles away we still go back at every opportunity and here’s why:
1) The food is always amazing!
Chris is passionate about cooking things that people love to eat, so much so he’ll always explains the cooking process if you’re curious. He always takes time after the plates hit the table to come from the kitchen to make sure you’re delighted with his food.
2)The owners Chris and Lucy embody everything about hospitality and the service from their team is always 1st class.
3) They are community focused like no other local business we know. During the pandemic they did so many things for the community without much recognition (but that’s not why they did them). From delivering meals to local elderly and vulnerable people to cooking 30-40 pizzas, regularly, and delivering them to the local hospital for the staff battling covid and also delivering essential grocery parcels to the local community.
4) Did I mention the food? Steaks are amazing - well traveled friends of our have said the fillet steak is as good as any they’ve had anywhere, pizzas - voted 2nd best in the country, burgers - so good that people travel from all over the world to try (and occasionally try one of the burger challenges and put on you tube) and The Specials are always top draw! Portions are always large so be prepared to take a little home…
We’ve regularly taken friends here, on numerous occasions, and they’ve tried anything from ribs to salads and it’s always a great experience and everyone wants to go back! All this from a traditional pub by a lovely village green!
As I’ve written this I’ve realised that take all this into account and The Hare pretty much deserves to be an automatic listing in any good food / good pub guide.
Definitely one not to miss! You won’t be disappointed and your taste buds will be delighted!

Friendly local pub with great food.
Relaxed welcoming staff and atmosphere.
Loved this place, two areas, one is a cozy pub with darts and TV, very welcoming and then the second area is the restaurant, really pleasant and the food was amazing and very good priced for the quality, I had this stack of food and it was only £11. I've paid more at wetherspoons and we all know what the quality is like there...
The staff were amazing and the owner is a real gentleman i wholeheartedly recommend this place
