Without doubt this is now the best chippy in braintree I drive for about ten minutes past the one on my doorstep to go here.
Its spotlessly clean, extremely friendly. Something I've never seen before is the fish is kept in a chiller cabinet in front of you when you walk in. This means not only will it be freshly cooked but you can choose it pre cooking.
John's of braintree holds the claim braintrees best chippy honestly I agree the food is always spot on and service is good and prices are fair definitely not to be slept on

Were rather hesitant after hearing it called ‘the best chip shop in Braintree’ as that creates high expectations. However, upon trying the chips last week, we very much agree! These are the best chip shop chips we’ve found. We’ve not tried any other food from there as we’re vegan with strict allergies so only losing a star for lack of other choices for us. But will def be back for chips!

I don't live in Braintree.. my mum treated us to fish and chips from John's of Braintree.. both the chips and fish cooked to order, fish was thick and white, with crispy batter.. chips were perfect... hope mum treats us again from here.
Fish is always cooked fresh from the chilled cabinet which is right in front of you as you walk through the door. Excellent batter on the fish and the chips are pretty good too. Never any complaints.
I love this chip shop! The service is good and the portions are brilliant. I have tried others but always go back to here! Their fish amazing and chips are never greasy. They always have a good choice of fish as well!
Credit due, 1st time for us. Excellently present cod and chips x4. Will definitely return. Curry sauce was a beautiful example. Chips and fish were superb. A bit of a drive for us but worth it.
Great Cod bap. Busy place but plenty of staff and minimal wait. Cod and chips were great. Jumbo sausage a lite bland for my taste. Otherwise very clean and first class.
The Chipshop used to be Henleys but now has definitley established itself as Johns of Braintree. There were times standards were inconsistent.
The chips are now always freshly cooked, soft and consistent like proper old school. We have cod that is always nicely battered and tasty.
Staff are polite and friendly please keep up the good work.
