Like a warm blanket! Cozy and comforting, my husband and I (I do need to start including myself in photos) settled in for warming drinks and delicious meals. Had we visited a few days later,
we might have met one of my favorite actors,
Dame Judy Dench. She seems like the type of person I could really love to share laughs with.
A radio station reported that she visited there around Christmas Eve last year.
Wonderful atmosphere and energy there, and we will visit again when in Scotland.
Few negative reviews lately so posting to address the balance. Popped in on our way to Aberlour and food and service were superb. We had requested a quiet table for our dog and we were put into the snug.
Will be coming back on our travels around the area.
One of the best pubs in Scotland. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is really awesome, and the pub itself is cozy and warm. I was lucky enough to be there one day they had live music! My advice is to book in advance, otherwise you might not get in.
This place was fantastic. Lovely place for lunch on our day in the town. For the love of God don't get the chicken salad. It was a fine salad, but the haggis neeps and tatties with whiskey sauce was fantastic. If you are traveling like I was, you are not in Scotland to eat salad.
Just wow! the food , the deco and the vibe are just cosy!
Il keep it short and simple.
Food…simply great ! A little on the expensive £7 soup starter and around £15 main at the time of writing this review but you do get for what you pay in term of quality, what makes this place alittle more special are they use local produce so everything is super fresh and tasty.
I do recommend and try the haddock Scotch egg, was the start of the show but saying that I wouldn’t give the soup a kiss either!
Highly recommended to visit on your way to glenshee ski resort or on the way up or down.
Brownie point - this is also a dog friendly restaurant 🐶
Outstanding lunch offering in a cozy, beautifully decorated environment.
The Flying Stag was incredible! It's pub food but on steroids and really delicious. I went with a friend after doing a big walk nearby and the food here really hit the spot. The service was fantastic and the place spotless! Really happy with it and didn't know what to expect as I just popped in.
Amazing staff..plentiful fresh food and artwork and woodwork beyond your thoughts!
The young man who looked after us had impeccable manners, could not have been more helpful and made us feel special even though the Flying Stag was busy.
My fish and chips were excellent!
I was very impressed.
Great experience! Probably the best tartar sauce I've ever had!
Considering how much it costs to stay at the hotel, the Flying Stag is very reasonably priced.
Our meals were very tasty.
It was a Tuesday night and very busy but with that in mind, the staff were all very friendly and helpful without seeming rushed.
Lovely establishment, well trained friendly staff, food and drinks excellent. Dog friendly- perfect place to stop for a bite pre/post walking in area.
What am amazing place! The staff are beyond helpful and kind. I thought it might be a little intimidating being so posh..... but no! It's very welcoming. I had the haggis, neeps and tatties, delicious and my partner had the steak, also delicious 😋
Such a stunning hotel.
We visited the area and decided to drop in for lunch. Superb decor and service top notch. My wife's fish pie has disappointingly, better described as potato mash with the occasional fish.
My haggis neeps and tatties was excellent.
It's no doubt an excellent hotel, it exudes quality, but for us lacked any sense of personality and warmth.
We went down the road for lunch the following day, which was very different...
This pub is part of The Fife Arms Hotel, very friendly, including dog friendly. I was there for lunch and the Whisky Library. 5 star experience and will definitely visit again...hopefully soon.
