So after all the recommendations. And YahyaRawat endless harping on about how great this restaurant is, I traipsed up to Bradford to be dissapointed by yet another 'fine dining' wannabe. I arrived for lunch and although severely late was still greeted with a smile. Shown to my table I was asked if I wanted a drink.
Drink served, we went through lunch options. Starters was a truffle gnocchi. I was told that this recipe was different from normal gnocchi. It was amazing, a wonderful depth of flavour coming from the morrels trumpets and truffles. The gnocchi had a pleasant light texture, a joy to eat...not heavy or stodgy as you would find normal gnocchi. I was given complimentary ciabatta baked in house, lightly toasted with seaweed butter again delightful. You can't go wrong with warm toasted fresh bread can you??
Mains I went for the salt Marsh lamb with aubergines and kale. This has to be the absolute star dish. The meat cooked how the chef intended it to be served, Was beautiful tender moist and melt in the mouth. The aubergine was out of this world a flavour that I hadn't come across and two ingredients I would never would have put together. The dehydrated kale was wonderful adding texture to the dish and pickled onions cutting through the whole thing with a bit of acidity. If anyone knows me, they know I don't do Meat. This however is now a firm favourite. When I go back and find its not on the menu I will be very unhappy.
Dessert was bakewell tart. I had the unfortunate event of having a horrendous bakewell tart being bought for me from bakewell. The bakery need to take lessons from the chef here, as this bakewell tart was nothing short of perfection. Crumbly pastry, the right balance of jam and almond finished off with strawberry ice cream with pieces of strawberries running through, strawberries that actually transported you back to your childhood. A strawberry jam and chocolate soil.
I couldn't leave without having a chocolate fondant. A true testament to any fine dining institute is to get out a perfect fondant and this one didn't fall short of my expectations. Oozing hot chocolate beautiful delicately flavoured salted caramel ice cream with pieces of sea salt running through. And of course the sharpness of cherry jam cutting through the richness of it all. My only gripe...more cherry jam please. For those who don't like it. You have no idea of what your talking about.
I was so impressed with my experience here in the afternoon that having met my cousin in the evening and discussing cona she wanted to pay a visit. I seriously didn't have a problem with this. I ended up with the seabass with cooked just right with a crisp skin and baby stem broccoli along with a spinach creme. A lighter meal put together for me as I had literally visited them hours earlier. Dessert this time was a strawberry cheese cake...but don't be fooled by the average name. Nothing is average here.
This restaurant certainly lives up to its hype. My faith in halal fine dining is restored. I could not find fault with the food or the knowledge of the chef creating these wonderful plates of the most fantastic flavours. Everything is as it should be.
The price is as expected with fine dining a little on the expensive side, but as with anything you pay for what you get. The finest, freshest ingredients are one of the reason the plates sing and dance with amazing flavour and flair. You can't get the nostalgic childhood flavour of strawberry from a pound a punnet from asda. Not to mention the time, care and processes it needs to be made into a delightful dessert.
What makes this place even more special is the passion and dedication shown by the owner and creator of these exemplary dishes. The sourcing of the finest ingredients, the skill and knowledge required to put these dishes together completely self taught. Which in my opinion is the highest form of dedication to the mastering of his craft, and mastered it he most certainly has. This place is certainly at the top of my favorites and I shall be visiting this place again very soon...breakfast tomorrow morning!
This place is absolutely amazing , if you like to get adventurous with your food and want some fine dining this is your place . Service like non other , welcoming and friendly staff . A real treat is this place , highly recommend
