We had our Christmas meal here last night, for the second year running, & there were 21 of us. They really looked after us, the food was lovely & I would definitely recommend them.
Had a birthday meal here with a large group of friends and everything was perfect , really friendly staff and really good food.
We have been at this lovely pub a few times now , mostly Sundays , fantastic friendly service, polite and very nice food.
Probably will make it a habit to go there ;-)

Lovely Sunday lunch today. Food was cooked just right and everything tasted lovely.
Friendly staff and didn't mind at all that we had the dog with us, we were all welcomed.

Had an excellent dinner with friends, found the staff friendly & attentive even thought the restaurant was packed. Stayed the night in a quiet, clean, smart room & had an wonderful breakfast. We found food, bar & room prices very reasonable and will visit again...soon!
This is a beautiful venue where we have lunched many times. Parking is easy and the gardens are delightful. One can eat inside or out. My lunch today was especially good (sea bass with lemon potatoes), and the staff were charming. I like the fact there was no piped music - just sunshine, fresh air and easy conversation.
Had a wonderful experience staying at the Hotel. The breakfast was superb (didn't have lunch or dinner as out all day/evening). Room was lovely. It was comfortable, clean and the hotel was situated in a beautiful village. I have booked a weekend for next year already. Thankyou for your great hospitality.
Really nice gem in the countryside. We just went for food and drinks. The staff was super friendly. Inside is pretty rustic and cozy and the garden is great too and the pub is dog friendly so we got to take the dog which was a nice bonus. The food was really good and I definitely want to go back.
Very handy place to stay when visiting family in Boxworth. However if you realise before you book there is nothing near it. We were not made to feel welcome as they had a private function on. It was only when I made them aware we had a room booked that they let us in to get some drinks. We had travelled for 4 hours to get there and no food was made available and with there being nothing nearby it was lucky we were going to a family bbq nearby. The surroundings of this hotel are lovely and the rooms need updating but are clean and comfy.
Absolutely amazing hotel! As soon as we arrived, Stephen and his lovely wife Amanda made us feel really welcome! Beds were super comfy, rooms were pukka and breakfast was delicious! I promise you wont be disappointed!

We came in after a long walk in a nice sunny day . Seat down in the garden with kids,dog the whole shabang😁. Got some pints and food ,it was BRILLIANT.
Lady at the bar was busy but very lovely and served impeccably.
Food was very good ,burger,fish and chips,stake and ale pie. Everyone was happy with their choices. And that is rare. Can't wait to try next time. I hope they consistent in what they do all the time .👋👋👋

Had Sunday lunch today, it was one of the best roasts we have had for a long time, the service was excellent and there were plenty of helpful staff on. Price was reasonable too.
Lovely place! Met up for a Christmas lunch, there were about 20 of us. There was a nice Christmas atmosphere. The staff were festively dressed, very attentive, accommodating, polite and nothing was too much trouble.
I had a duck pate to start, the pate was delicious, it just needed more toast, the staff were quick to get more when asked. Main was the turkey dinner, it looked lovely, unfortunately it was a bit bland nothing appeared to be seasoned at all, seemed a shame that all that effort had clearly been put in to the preparation and presentation, even the gravy was tasteless. Salt and pepper was available on the table. I had cheese and biscuits for dessert, nice selection of cheeses and quaint biscuits. Overall 9 out of 10 and would definitely be returning and recommending.

Fancied a pint and a gammon steak after work. Estrella on draught and a whopper gammon, chips, peas, pineapple all served promptly and all delicious.
Lovely atmosphere and food. Good base for local walks.
(Caveat: pub only) very nice decor and quaint rural location but the tea (I drink black only due to lactose intolerance) was godawful, to be honest, whether because of local water or they have to cut costs to save up for energy bill, I still think for £3 they could afford me a bag of PG tips. Still a solid 4, a really nice place.
A group of walkers started and finished our walk at the Golden Ball. Staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful.
Food was amazing, from the sandwiches or soup to the Thai green curry or fish and chips. All around the table everyone complimented the quality, freshness and presentation of the food.
Lovely rooms at The Golden Ball, in a separate area to the pub so not disturbed by noise. Spotlessly clean, yes the shower is as powerful as previously mentioned. Lovely staff, nothing was too much trouble. Nice meal at night and breakfast in the morning. Just a few minutes off the M11 but in a very quiet village. Only thing that needs improving is the coffee in the morning
Perfect place for an afternoon dinner. The selection was small, but covered just enough to give a good variety of foods. It was quite and reserved, with good seating and nice atmosphere. If you're looking for a nice family meal out, as we were, it's a solid choice. Well waitered, with good control of dietary restrictions. They came over to the table changed an order when one classed with a dietary restrictions that was not mentioned before, and happily helped to change the order with delay or fuss.
