Delicious food that also caters for halal dietary requirements! We had the cheese and onion pie and the fish and chips, both were comforting meals, and the staff were very friendly! one to visit if you are in the Lake District!

A nice spot to stop for fish & chips. After a little wait I had fish, chips, mushy peas and tarter sauce. Delicious and friendly service, will definitely coming back again next time we visit.

Thanks for the lovely fish and chips - classic chippy chips and what was described as the perfect batter to fish ratio. Also easily accommodated gluten free which was indistinguishable from the others (except by the label!)

Delicious, no nonsense, pub-grub style food, served in takeaway boxes with wooden cutlery...(both for taking away or eating in). Really good quality fish, served with proper, fresh cut potato chips, mushy peas, tartar sauce, and a wedge of lemon. My wife had one or their pies, a proper pie, the sort with a full shortcrust pastry case, and not one that's just a bit of puff pastry plonked on top of some stew. The surroundings are simple, rustic even...(it's called The Driftwood, after all)...and the beer is served in plastic beakers. But boy, the food is very good, the service is quick, and it's the best value lunch we've had during our stay here in The Lakes. It definitely gets my unreserved recommendation.

If we go on a trip to Windermere, we never miss this place. We love fish and chips. They are always served fresh. The prices and service are adequate.

Excellent fish and chips. Read the other reviews and just had to fit this into our weekend trip at some point. Also as an added bonus all the fish is halal as they cook it seperately from all the other meats. Also being from London I believe the price point was reasonable.

Quirky ordering process... Well presented and tasty fish and chips. A lovely surprise to find gluten free fish and chip. Staff were GF aware. Resonable price for Windermere.

Family of 5 were looking for somewhere to eat after a day of sight seeing. Found this place, after walking out of somewhere else down the road. We were greeted at the front, given instructions and told where to sit! We had 3 kids meals with a bottle of coke and 2 adults fish and chips with alcoholic drinks for less than £60! A little wait (15-20 mins tops) and out food was ready. You have to get up and collect your order, but staff were on hand to help up with our 'mega order'. All meals boxed individually. Wooden cutlery provided and you just chuck it all away when you've finished. Easy. The fish was great, best chippy chips I've had in ages (should have ordered more. Not because there wasn't enough - there was - I just couldn't get enough!) To sum up - good, honest food nice location overlooking the lake, friendly staff and a great dinning experience for a quick, easy fill! We will definitely be back!

A straight forward and very effective setup - basically, takeaway fish and chips, but with an option to use their undercover tables. Fish was excellent and chips really tasty. We loved how friendly the waitress was - suggesting a table that would work best for our group (there are sone saved for families with prams) and she talked through the menu with obvious pride in the food.
