Honestly can’t thank this place enough for how great they were!!!! Booked a table for 18 and turned up with 20 (clearly I can’t do maths) and they made everything possible! We wanted for nothing! The service was perfect! We never pre booked but food was not a long wait even tho there was so many of us and a full restaurant! Can’t recommend this place enough if it’s for a quick tea or a big group this is the place to go!!! Thank you very much again!!!

My husband had mussels in a white wine sauce which were fabulous. I had salt and pepper squid which was lovely too. For mains I had beef skewer and my husband had bacon chops in maple syrup. Both dishes were divine. The sweets looked lovely but we were too full to do one justice. We shared a rather nice White Zinfandel. Although the food was fabulous I ‘ve got to mention the excellent waiter who was so happy, considerate and attentive. He was the reason for five stars.

Really nice food and the staff are nice too. Very busy on a Saturday night so a little wait for food, but well worth the wait.

Josh (assistant manager) & the team was most welcoming for our group of 4 adults and 2 Bernedoodle dogs. Nothing was too much trouble to assisting with our needs and the dogs needs, also went out of their way to put the football on which made us feel so welcome and at home, this made the decision to stay for even longer easier. Would Definitely go again x

This place has so much seating inside and outside so we managed to get a seat very easily. The staff were so polite and ensured we were ok throughout our whole visit here. The food came quicker than expected and was extremely good and tasty. The price of the food was very reasonable.

A message for the landlord..... Having visited over several days, just for a beer, I was always welcomed and treated very well by the bar staff. Very friendly. I am only really writing this review to point out something I had noticed whilst sat having my beer in the front beer garden. The wooden chairs provided are often the ones most used and are very comfortable along with a few wicker type chairs occupy a higher level. However, when the wooden chairs and wicker chairs are all occupied it leaves only VERY uncomfortable metal chairs left to sit at on the lower level. The metal chairs are of two colours, green and yellow and look and feel awful. I sat and had a pint of beer, just for about an hour, on two afternoons over the May bank holiday. On both occasions, I witnessed several groups come in, take a look at the seating and walk out. The problem with the metal seats is that any rain leaves them with deep puddles on the seat as there is no where for it to drain after a shower. I watched groups of people come in, attempt to sit down or just see the wet seats and leave. I saw a group of around 9 to 10 men enter, two of them sat down, got up immediately then all of them left. This was not an isolated incident. On the two days that I had sat watching, when the seats were wet and the wooden chairs were occupied, many many people came, took one look at the wet metal chairs and immediately left. I am writing this because it is a great pub and I feel that the landlord should know that a lot of custom is being lost, all due to the wet metal seating.

Whilst on holiday in Bowness on Windermere we decided to check into the Village Inn for an evening meal. I opted for Lasagne, Julie had Gammon Steak and our daughter had Mac and Cheese. Lasagne came with salad and garlic bread which was done to perfection. Gammon steak was with chips that were done just right not too crispy or soft. Mac and cheese came with salad and garlic bread. Reasonably priced meals with drinks and the service was great with no waiting too long at all. The inside of the place was clean and nearly empty as it was not yet the time for evening lunch as we went in just before 5pm. There were some people outside having drinks. Give it a try as it is very reasonable and the food was great! EDIT: In response to the reply from the Village Inn - Yes we did enjoy the food and we will be back when we return next year! Thank you again.

We had lunch here before taking a boat ride. Honestly, best chicken katsu curry we had in England. Didn't expect to find it in Lake District, we had ordered it dubiously. "Chicken katsu curry, here of all places?" No regrets! The fries next to the katsu sauce absorbed it a bit and became quite amazing too, I recommend dipping them! We also had fish and chips, which was pretty good. The staff is decent and helpful, the venue is nice especially under the sun, near the lake so you can just walk down and chill there or take the boat. It's dog friendly, btw.

Visited on a week day trip to Bowness. Huge beer garden at the front, really looking forward to returning when the weather improves! The pub has a lovely, chilled village pub vibe. It was well presented, clean, and tidy and it actually smelled clean when we walked through the door. It was busier than we were expecting it to be on a weekday afternoon, which we took to be a good sign. Despite this, the service was excellent. We were greeted warmly with a smile, advised where we could find a table and told to order at the bar when we were ready. Every member of staff we interacted with throughout our visit was friendly, welcoming and it genuinely felt like they enjoyed being at work. There's nothing worse than being served by someone that makes you feel like you're putting them out! The drinks were a bit on the expensive side, but I guess that reflects the location and it definitely wouldn't put us off returning. The food on the other hand was extremely good value for money. We didn't have to wait long for it to arrive after ordering, the portions were generous and it was all absolutely delicious! I don't usually write reviews, so I didn't think to take any photos. We had pulled pork tacos and halloumi fries to start, followed by a chicken and ham pie with mash, and a Hungarian beef goulash. Overall, a very enjoyable afternoon and we look forward to returning next time we're in the area!

Self service (order at the bar with your table no), usual pub fare. Battered fish was over fried, but the chicken and steak pies were enjoyable. No mustard available for the steak pie. Large outside eating area. Well located in the heart of Bowness. Overall 3.5 stars but have rounded up as it was dog friendly outside where we were seated.

Had a couple of meals here and I have to say they were lovely, especially the Sunday roast. My partner had the Goulash and said he enjoyed it. The Staff are so friendly and helpful. The pub is also dog friendly and our Border Terrier loved the attention he received from customers and staff.

A very friendly homely pub which serves great food with decent portions. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. They welcome dogs and make sure they're catered for too. There's a lovely outdoor area too for the summer. I strongly recommend this pub

Beautiful atmosphere, awesome food. We loved their hanging kebab, it comes with little fries and a small salad along with hot oil. The combination of hot oil, vegetables and meat with bread makes an amazing food experience for you. I also really enjoyed the presentation. Their fish&chips are really delicious too but I didn't really like the fish pie, it was too salty. For more detailed review - Instagram: @foodjournalofTY

Quite a large pub/restaurant right in the centre of town. Lots of elbow room and tables are adequately spaced apart, food was reasonable and service was good. We were there in February and the food service winds down at 7pm and it just seemed unusual to see people being turned away at that time when most Greene King establishments stop food service at 9pm. I think there's food for thought here....Bowness is one of the busiest towns in the lake District and this place was half empty, we went in because other places were packed.

6 of us went in for lunch and the service and food were great! Sunday lunch was massive with plenty of other choices on the menu for those who wanted something different. All of the servers were polite and friendly, acknowledging you while you waited at the bar and checking everything was good with our food. As locals in Cumbria, it is nice to eat somewhere that isn't crazily overpriced. I would highly recommend if you are looking for good food, a warm welcome and a friendly atmosphere.
