Dog friendly, had a nice dinner there. Lovely atmosphere, lovely staff.
The food was good too, the starter calamari and soup were fine, the highlight, interestingly, was the fresh thin crust bread that came with the latter. I was happy to have that bread also accompany my BBQ ribs. Very good ribs, personally I could do with a bit less aniseed and sugar in the sauce, but still delicious. The steak pie was also very good.
The portion size was above average and prices reasonable.
The side salt and pepper wings were the only thing I did not enjoy, as they came covered in a (kind of weird, like a smokier teriyaki?) sauce. Clashed with my BBQ too. I wasn't too bothered as everything else was great, but I mentioned it at the end to the waitress as I really don't think many people expect salt & pepper wings to be covered in sauce. The waitress told me she'd take care of it, I said no need, I was only being helpful it was all fine, but she came back with a new receipt anyway, removing the wings.
So there you have it, good food, great service.
We dined here a couple of times last year and it was fantastic, yesterdays (Sunday) visit, whilst still being a fantastic establishment, the food didn't live up to previously.
Crackling was missing from the porky belly ( which was fixed later after being pointed out). The roast potatoes need work, the beef had little taste and on the chewy side. The chips were extremely dry.
The golden ale and Helles lager were good.
The staff were friendly.
I believe that this establishment has recently come into new ownership.
A great afternoon!
Visited with friends for Sunday lunch and we were all super impressed.
Despite not having a booking, we were warmly greeted and soon found a table.
Eugene looked after us and seemed to know what we wanted before we did!!! The roast dinners were delicious, piping hot and beautifully presented.
No room for desserts, but will definitely be back soon.
Thank you to David for fitting us in, on what looked like a very busy day.
Highly recommended
Before moving to Australia this was a fairly regular haunt so it was brilliant to return and see it looking as welcoming as ever - despite the wet Wednesday night. Went for an evening meal. The scotch egg was fantastic, and the ribs were just as good. No room for a dessert sadly. Highly recommend. A great example of a proper English pub! Thanks to
Jon and the team for looking after us so well.
The Mason Arms is a fantastic little pub and guesthouse. It is in a wonderful location if you love the Lakes. It is away from all the usual tourist stuff, which means it's nice and quiet. It has wonderful walks from the doorstep of the pud, which will suit all abilities and levels. It's is only a short drive to tourist attractions if you like that sort of thing.
The food drink and service is first class and you will not be disappointed.
The accommodation is very homely and if you feel that you are missing something the staff are always happy to assist and help.
Stopped by for a drink for a special occasion. Service was perfect. Would of loved to dine however other arrangements were made. The menu looks amazing!
Next time we will most definitely be keeping this diamond in mind. In particular our server Mikki was polite, attentive and had a lovely smile š
We will be back A***
Wonderful warm welcome from Eugen who, along with his colleagues, looked after us very well when we had dinner here. It's a lovely cosy pub/restaurant with comfortable seating and we were made to feel at home. Food is superb, excellent quality, nicely presented and the menu has dishes to cover all tastes. Will definitely be back!
Had such a great stay at the Masons Arms. David and everyone couldnāt do enough for us and we genuinely felt properly looked after. Great food, great drinks, great room (we stayed in Lyth cottage for 4 nights with 2 adults, 1 teenager, 1 eight yr old and a dog), great service, and great views. What more could you ask for.
Will definitely go back.
Thanks David and team.
Excellent stay at Mason's Arms. Another great stay. Excellent room decor that is unique and the staff are excellent and friendly. Some new little touches added since our last stay and to the pub, which we found added to the experience (hoping the room decor doesn't change though as we love it). Really is dog friendly which is great, even has a selection of dog snacks and food available. Fantastic food and great selection on Beer and Ale available.
We were on holiday and our cottage info recommended this pub to eat. We weren't disappointed and in fact delighted to visit this little gem of a pub for dinner and lunch. The food was great and good value and the location is so pretty and service 5 star. We would recommend and hope to visit again soon. Thanks.
Nestled in the heart of the picturesque countryside, it's a perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring. The menu features hearty pub classics made with locally sourced ingredients. The friendly staff add to the charm, making it a must-visit for both locals and tourists alike.
Every time we visit The Lakes we always look forward to a meal in the Masons Arms (Strawberry Bank).
The Sunday Roast is one of the best youāll have and the Sticky Toffee Pudding is just delicious!!
The pub is welcoming and cozy, and the staff are great.
Canāt wait to visit again in the future!
We arrived here to eat early evening . We were welcomed in given menu,s witin a couple of minutes . Drinks and food order was taken at the table. We ordered the fish and chips (which was huge, and delicious) , my partner had the steak which re remarked was perfectly cooked , plus very good value with all the trimmings. We were seated by the log fire . As the place filled up. We got talking to the guests on nearby tables , we had a brilliant convivial evening , can't wait to return. thankyou , see you again soon.
came for Sunday roast dinner with my family, very friendly and attentive staff, David made us feel welcome and settled ready for for an enjoyable lunch,
Food was superb!! one of the best Sunday lunches I have had in some time! a Sunday roast where you don't have to ask for extra gravy as its brought to your table as standard... very good we will be back.
Great pub with fantastic atmosphere and food. We were a large group with 3 toddlers and the staff, specifically Mihaela, were great at accommodating us and making sure we had everything we needed. The pub is super cosy with very charming rustic feel and the food was superb. Highly recommend if you are in the area.
The Masons Arms is a fabulous place to stay. We went for 2 nights to celebrate a birthday and could not fault it. Cosy, clean and comfortable rooms, excellent food and stunning views. The manager David was an excellent host and made us feel really welcome. We will definitely be back
Booked a table , but arrived early , they very kindly got us a table without having to wait. All of the food was freshly cooked and was delicious and the bar and restaurant staff were the best Thankyou (forgot to mention the beautiful views and dog friendly !) 10/10 š¤
Full marks to the team at Masons Arms. Their menu for lunch includes a range of lovely food including vegetarian. We particularly like the Miso mushrooms on toast. A lovely mixture of mushrooms full of flavour.
And despite short notice they provided excellentv food for all our group. Nice beer too.
