What a wonderful experience. Having just finished walking Hadrian’s Wall we were looking to replace some calories and we couldn’t have found a better spot. The food was delicious, very reasonably priced, and the presentation was excellent. The ambiance was great and the staff were helpful. We asked about taxis back to Carlisle and the restaurant offers a shuttle for a reasonable fee.
If I find myself back in Bowness-on-Solway, I’ll be paying another visit to the Solway Lounge & Garrison Bistro.

This is your must stop place if you’re in the area. Lovely homey atmosphere with very friendly and attentive staff. Food was delicious, one of the best homemade lasagna we’ve ever day, delicious soup and also the bacon Brie and cranberry panini was spot on. Premises are clean and well looked after. We’ve enjoyed everything about our visit. Highly recommend. Thank you
Called in en route to Carlisle on my bike for a lunch time bite to eat.
This is a hidden gem of a place on the Solway coast. Ideal stopping point for cyclists on the Route 72 (Hadrian's Route) Also weary walkers at the end of their route.
Friendly staff, good, reasonably priced food and beer!
It has been re-developed and is now fully opened since the last time I called (June 2020).

We stopped here last night using the Brit Stop programme and we absolutely loved it! Really lovely stop, amazing food, staff and facilities were to die for. We had use of the gym, showers and electric along with WiFi! We will definitely be back as it’s in such a lovely location and everyone was so welcoming…even the cockerels and resident bunnies! My son was finishing Hadrian’s Wall today so we went to pick him up in Bowness on Solway.. Had lunch here. What a wonderful spot. Lovely bar staff, friendly owner. Very tasty food and reasonably priced.
I've called in a few times whilst out cycling but today I'd booked a table for Sunday lunch for four adults and three children and the whole occasion was made very welcoming by friendly staff offering excellent food and service đź‘Ť

Arrived here at the end of my Hadrian's Wall walk. A perfect ending to a week's walking. Homecooked food, well presented, fairly priced and excellent staff. Was very pleased to have found this place.
