Only had 1 real ale on ,but it was good and well kept. The barmaid and locals were very friendly, having just popped in while waiting for the bus back to Carlisle after a walk .Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
Unsure from the outside , but went in , friendly doggy welcome , plenty of space , mix of locals and fellow walkers . Good service , and fairly priced decent basic pub grub . Oh and nice ale .
End of a coast to coast walk last Friday (29/9/23) and a night here. There’s a really good atmosphere here with the locals and various walking groups staring my and finishing. Best Cumberland sausage of our whole trip and just a great feel good place. Good chat with the land lady over a huge brekkie
Stayed overnight prior to commencing the Hadrian's Wall Walk. The Pub is ideally placed and Annette and the rest of the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The food was good and the atmosphere relaxed. All in all a great place to stay.
Annette and her team of staff were absolutely brilliant. We stayed here after walking the wall. Such a lovely welcome and good food too! I will definitely visit again.
A surprise treat by our friends! We enjoyed a wonderful meal and good company. Delicious food, it was difficult to decide from the menu - it all sounded yummy! Definitely will return!
What a little gem of a pub! Unassuming, but not to be underestimated. The Northern welcome, the great food (especially the chips, which are the best!!!) the humour, the locals (Norman, Johnny and Francis) the strawberries in the Lunar gin 🤣🤣….we stayed at the gorgeous Bank cottage with the ‘infamou
Great wee place where the staff really care, very friendly and our food was lovely.
I really enjoyed my visits over a weekend. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and so are the locals. A great selection of beers and home cooked food
The kings Arms has a lovely 'homely' atmosphere. The food is freshly cooked to order. The landlady is lovely as are her staff. If you want to anything about the history of this area ask Pamela and her sister! We have relatives who live nearby and visit often. You will receive a lovely, warm welcome
