Hands down the best food I have ever tasted. Staff were excellent and very attentive. Can not recommend this place enough.

I have been to this restaurant 3 times now and have been super impressed with absolutely everything. The service, the depth of knowledge the staff have, the food was the absolute highlight! Taster menu was some of the best food I’ve ever tasted. Interesting and varied. I’ve decided to write this review because I just read one that was pretty scathing and I felt that incredibly unfair on this business. Not my experience at all and I’m pleased to sing its praises. I will return, time and time again.

Amazing evening - a real night out exploring, admiring and consuming delicious foods and wine - and of course the obligatory cocktail to start with. Attentive knowledgeable and proud of the food staff and just a fantastic place to go if you like good food. Unusually amazing for a Bournemouth eaterie.
This unassuming restaurant is one not to be missed. From the second you enter, you realise this is a special place with a relaxed and upmarket ambience, and is beautifully decorated. The greeting and service from the outset is impeccable, friendly and helpful staff guide you through every aspect of your dining experience.
I am one not to write reviews, but I feel compelled given the incredible lunch I was treated to. The food is second to none, and some of the best I have ever had in a restaurant. Restaurant Roots is a true credit to the whole team, and I will certainly be returning again.
I can fully recommend this restaurant, you will not be disappointed. There is a reason this team have won the Dorset food and drink awards, and the reviews speak for themselves.

Stunning food. Honestly the food is amazing. Talking at home last night we decided that Roots would be in our Top 3 restaurants in the world! Rankings as follows Fiji, Southbourne, Hong Kong. This is a hidden gem to say the least.
Can't rate it highly enough! Outstanding service...outstanding food! A real personal touch. Nothing is too much trouble. Very passionate about ensuring you have the perfect meal.
First time at Roots last night. Shame it's taken me so long to visit this local gem!
Looked after really well. The dishes were all very very good. For the experience & flavours I think it's priced extremely well.

I am so glad I chose to have my 21st birthday meal here.
I tried the 8 course lunch tasting menu, nice Prosecco, fresh mint tea and the watermelon cocktail. They were all exceptional. I strongly recommend the watermelon cocktail.

The culinary journey you go on with the tasting menu is simply amazing. I cannot believe such a high quality restaurant exists in this rural area of the world.
I don’t have the vocabulary to accurately describe how exceptional the food was. I am a huge fan of the tasting menu format as it means you try different foods you otherwise would not go for. I am so happy about all the new ingredients and combinations I tried.
The staff were obviously incredibly knowledgable and had a great rich history in the culinary experience world. The chef was very charismatic and his passion really came through in his work. The server was wonderful and clearly had a lot of experience in his job. Two really wonderful people who helped make this experience so wonderful.

This restaurant never fails to impress- we are very lucky to live within walking distance from it.
A special occasion experience for us as it’s expensive but honestly worth every penny.
It’s fine dining in Southbourne near Bournemouth offering tasting menus- an unusual spot for such high quality food. If you are in London, make the journey - you won’t be disappointed.
Best place I've eaten in Bournemouth, well worth the money! Went for my mum's birthday. Staff couldn't be more helpful, kind and knowledgeable. The vegetarian menu was outstanding. An amazing mixture of flavors, and I will definitely be going back to try the dinner menu. I simply cannot recommend this enough.

We had the pescatarian tasting menu with wine flight and it was exceptional. Good value for money and a real treat, would fully recommend.

We were so right to choose Roots as our destination for our romantic meal two weeks ago. We chose the 10 course taster menu and were taken again on a taste bud surprise sensation! The service was first class. The chef continues to prepare unique flavours using fresh and contrasting foods....we will definitely return again very soon for a deserved treat

Well we made it back here again after lockdown. No surprises the booking for last night was made several months ago; book ahead as this place is gaining notoriety and becoming ever popular and known! The intimate setting has been refurbed and looks even more classy and stylish. Clever tablet device set on the table which customers can refer to through the night to look at menu details. The photos I took did not do justice to the amazing flavours and clever twists chef has applied to the taster dishes. He is in a league of his own and deserves the accolades of michelin recognition. The watermelon starter was such a sensory surprise and sweetcorn accompaniment also full of flavour. The melon dish was so well thought out and refreshing after the sumptuously
rich beef. Service and staff rapport remains faultless. Great night again for two very satisfied returning customers!
We had the "Classic" tasting menu & wine flight. It was quite simply, delicious. I've been to a number of 1* Michelin restaurants that weren't this good. Such a great restaurant. Looking forward to returning and trying the bigger tasting menu.
Simply mind blowing. My parter treated me for my 43rd birthday and this was the first time in my life that I cried with happiness because of the food I was eating. Chef created us a special vegan menu - no meat or dairy needed to achieve excellence. An incredible experience, thank you ❤️

We are here on Friday evening and everything about the evening was superb.
From the service, wine pairings to the food there is nothing that disappointed.
We were met with a smile and the three people who served us over the evening the brilliant. Shout out to the sommelier who matched the wines perfectly and also accommodated those in our party who didn’t like certain wines.
The food was amazing and the star of the show was the tuna with oyster ice cream.
Outstanding experience and can only see them earning a star soon.

Michellin starred food without the pretentiousness, this is definitely the best quality restaurant in the area. The restaurant itself is small (18 covers) but perfectly laid out to give you space to converse without banging elbows and considering the previous restaurant here had 30 covers it perfectly illustrates that the people running Restaurant Roots are in it for the love of what they do...not the money. We were welcomed by Geza as soon as we walked into the warm lit dining area and there was nothing he couldn't do for us. This is personalised service at it's best. The food was simply outstanding and having eaten at many well established Michellin starred establishments, the food at Roots is of this standard, using all British and as little dairy as possible. The flavours were wonderful, occasionally challenging and one of the deserts was of the best I've had anywhere (including Noma/Studio etc) and the matched wines were spot on. Let's continue to support this local, superb restaurant and give it the accolades it deserves. Thank you guys!
