Lovely fish and chip shop in Boston, popped in on a Saturday night for sausage and chips. The staff are really friendly and it was very quiet so I got served straight away. The food was.great with delicious chips.

I was so pleased with the service and the fresh lightly battered cod and crinkle cut chips I ordered as well as the baked potato and chilli my husband had; so quite surprised by a few really bad reviews. Sam, our host, went out of his way to make us relaxed and happy on this hot summer day as we decided to sit outside not realising that there were two floors upstairs. I hope my review and the good experience we had counteracts the few bad ones I read afterwards.

Visited Tates for the first time in years and was not disappointed. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Offered us to sit in despite being close to closing time. The premises is very clean and well kept. As a family of 6 we all had different meal options and all were beautifully cooked and thoroughly enjoyable. We all were very happy. Portion sizes were very generous, unfortunately we struggled to finish it all 😭. Highly recommend. Best fish and chips 🥳

Had a lovely mini fish and chips, thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff were very friendly and the £6 price was a bargain. Added bonus that you can sit inside or outside.

I accidentally found this place on way home from skeggy. Owner is so friendly and his food is amazing.. the oil he uses make this chips taste so nice and the fish was really fresh also the large sausage was perfectly well cooked. I'm coming back again

Service was very friendly and efficient. I had fish and chips that were £6 with a drink thrown in. Obviously a smaller portion, but sometimes with fish and chips that’s not a bad thing. Chips could have been a little hotter, but in all very good. There is a desert menu too, but I didn’t have room for that.

I was visiting Boston for the weekend with my family (4 adults and 3 kids) and we wanted to have a nice Sunday lunch before we left. We came across Tates just off the main square. When we arrived there were 6 diners already there but was plenty of seating and we sat down and got comfortable. Even though there was only one staff member cooking and serving, he came over in a few minutes to take our order. The menu has a good range of fish, vegetarian, chicken and gluten free options. We had the large cod, scampi and cod bites all with chips. Everyone finished their food, even the fussiest eaters. The portions were generous. The prices were very reasonable. Overall we had a lovely experience and would go back again. Before I visited I looked at google reviews and they ranged from 5 stars to 1 star so I was a little apprehensive. Fish and chips is best eaten fresh and hot, so I assume the low rated reviews are for ones where they had them delivered home.

Heard about this place for a long time best fish and chips with homemade mushy peas. Fish is fresh and batter is light and crunchy. Went there in Saturday afternoon waiting time is less than 5 mins. Amazing!

Always loved fish and chips from Tate's, especially when Sam is at the fryer. Lovely piece of fish, nicely done chips, and all wrapped carefully by Sam.
