Outstanding pub. Friendly staff, great selection of ales, ciders and spirits (nice local gin). We all ate and I highly recommend to anyone who is in the vicinity to come here for food (great local specialities and meats) and for evening drinks. The food really was top notch. I would advise to book a table though, not surprisingly it gets really busy. Loved it!
We stumbled across the Woolpack Inn purely by chance, what a hidden gem, friendly staff and a great atmosphere, food was great, I highly recommend trying a pizza, many thanks!
Would recommend this place to anyone. great location and service! The Jacuzzi bath in room 8 was just what you needed after walking! Loved our long weekend away
2 fantastic nights in this beautiful part of the world.
Friendly staff who all love to have a chat, great food and a good selection of beer and gin ( my 2 favourite drinks )
Our room was lovely with a great view of the Fells
Thank you and we will return.
Stayed here before and would come again, we had a great night at the bar and the staff are super helpful and friendly. Lovely toiletries in the bathroom and everything was clean, the views were amazing and breakfast was lovely. We will be back soon, the evening food menu is pizzas and burgers but the pizzas were really fantastic love that it’s dog friendly too .
Every time we holiday in the Lake District this is 1 pub we always go to. The pizzas they make are amazing. Not forgetting the adorable golden retriever that we have watched grow from a puppy. Great staff, great atmosphere highly recommend it.
Came across the pub by chance stopped, went in for some food absolutely blew our minds, fanatic food friendly welcoming staff, if I'm in the area again will definitely be calling back.
Great food esp the lamb burger. Great choice of ales and quick service. Ty very much we would return and recommend to others xx
Love this place. Great food...who expects a proper pizza oven in the outback??? Great ales, over 120 gins and similar story on the vodkas. Picturesque location and a road in that is guaranteed to scare the life out of your passengers. If I could make a criticism it would be nice to see some vegan options on the menu to accompany the vegetarian choices.
We stayed at the Woolpack Inn a week ago and we were happily surprised by the great hospitality. We were all soaked and exhausted from the days walk and previous nights wildcamping, but we could dry and rest in the pleasant and tidy room. The food was good and they have gluten free meals, which was great for me. The day after we got a lift to the Ratty, to not start our day all wet. Really a great inn to stay!
Love this place--great food, atmosphere, location. It's our go to spot for day trips in a gorgeous area.
Pulled up in classic mini and tear drop caravan spent all night there beer was excellent and food was awesome we all had a great night we will be back!
Myself and my family came in here to play pool on the rainy days during our 4 night stay in the Lakes.
The owner is super friendly and we felt so relaxed and comfortable here. They have an adorable Labrador too!
Highly recommend this place!
Arrived here on Saturday 06/04/24, what an amazing place, manager and staff very helpful and friendly, service and food was excellent, we only stayed for one night, great en-suite bathroom, very comfy large bed and the most amazing mountain view, can't fault anything. Enjoyed my weekend stay so much already planning to go back soon and stay longer.
If you enjoy an adrenaline rush have a drive up and down Hardknott Pass (not for the faint hearted)
What a fantastic location in the Eskdale Valley. We were staying at Woolpack farm and ate here every night of our stay. Inside of the Inn warm & welcoming & lovely views if you want to sit outside. The pizza’s, garlic breads, chilli, pie & burgers would highly recommend. Great selection of local ales, gin & drinks in general. All the staff were friendly & the service was 10/10.
Stopped by for a morning coffee and a cake. This place was old cosy and real farm land style.
They had log burning stoves.
Dog friendly.
Staff really helpful abd friendly l. They do have rooms to stay.
They do serve food.
We only had coffee and cake and it was delicious.
Would recommend.
Came on a rainy Wednesday in November. Plenty of parking outside and a great pit stop after exploring the landscape around hardknott pass. On entering there was only 1 other family there so it was very quiet. We rang the bell and were greeted by a lovely lady, we proceeded to order some food along with a well deserved pint. Really good value, tasty food that came out quick and was piping hot, we sat by the fire and just enjoyed this really quaint place. If in the area I would highly recommend stopping off.
Jubilee bridge to Mickledore down to Brackenclose. Collect my bike and cycle round to jubilee bridge. So I was ready for good pub food.
We take a lot of our students to the Woolpack for butties after camping.
My experience was fish and chips with a Guinness. Mostly good apart from the mushy peas which were fridge cold. Mentioned it no discount offered.
Should be three stars but I like the place..
Nice pub at the end of the hardknott pass. Nice food and lovely location.
They had a South African hot dog stand when we visited.
So nice we had to do it twice.
2 days out 3 we ate here and the food was so nice we had to come back
Luna gives 5 stars for pizza

Lovely bar & café, popular with walkers & locals alike. Great if you're walking to the Roman Fort at Hardknott Pass. The landlord has a friendly dog. Roaring fires (woodburning stoves), great ales & delicious food.
