Found this place via trip advisor-on our way home looking for a place for Sunday lunch. We weren't disappointed! Mid afternoon when we arrived, resiwas busy, received a warm welcome. Short wait for table. 3 Sunday lunches ordered. Good being served loones and smelt delicious. 15/20 mins wait for meal. Lean, well cooked meat (turkey for 2 of us and beef for 1), beef melted in your mouth! Mash and roasties, crushed carrots, broccoli and cauliflower topped off with Yorkshire puds! Veg perfect, not squishy and over cooked unlike some we've had. Perfect puds finished off our meal. A great value meal all round in well kept clean, well organised pub. Will definitely add this place to my list if passing by again!
The food was so good last Sunday we came back again this Sunday & it was excellent again, this is fast becoming my favourite place to fetch family & friends as well always enjoy our visits, the staff are friendly & the food & drinks are always first rate.
Came here for lunch with, a group of 8 friends in total, on 13th October. Ate from the ‘light’ menu and was pleasantly surprised at the portion sizes. Everyone enjoyed their meal, so much so, we have booked our Christmas Lunch here this year.
Would definitely recommend, we celebrated my mum's 70th at the Tavern last night, the food was excellent the staff couldn't have been anymore accommodating and friendly considering we were a large group and the service was second to none.
Lovely staff. Very helpful and cheery. It was very busy for a midday Tuesday however there were lots of other Christmas meal diners too. The Christmas meal was delicious with great quality ingredients and presented very appetisingly. Will definitely visit again soon!!!

Enjoyed a lovely meal with our friends three of had the Hake it was lovely and another had the salmon friendly staff always really good at the Taverne very busy last night.
Had afternoon tea with my daughter and grandparents. I highly recommend it. Had to bring some home. Will have this again. X
We always enjoy our meals. my husband loves the liver the best he has tasted. And I love the home made pat'e. .staff are very friendly and polite.
Love this place….superb food with all flavours at reasonable prices. The fish dishes are so tasty. Staff are amazing….friendly and welcoming. Great atmosphere. So sad that it is closing…..will be a great loss to dining out as there is no place to compare with its standards and ambience.

Came here for the first time to have the afternoon tea with a friend. The atmosphere was calm & peaceful and the seats/tables were clean. The staff were welcoming and attended to us well. The afternoon tea itself was excellent; they brought out a starter first followed by a tier of sandwiches/french fries & a range of desserts. The only downside was that for the starter 2/3 dishes were non-vegetarian and they didn’t have any veggie alternatives so I could actually only eat one of the dishes. As part of the main afternoon tea you get a choice of sandwiches to choose from - again no veggie options. In order to cater for everyone they should have veggie options on their menu. Overall, it was a good visit.
Restaurant was lovley and clean, beautiful service and food. I went with my grandparents and they were so accommodating and friendly. We had 2 roasts and a chicken basket with drinks and desserts after and i believe it was a fair price. Would recommend.
Good quality food at decent prices. Was very busy for a Thursday night, but plenty of seats in the bar and restaurant. Happily recommend it to anyone looking for a meal out with friends midweek. Good selection of mains and desserts including sticky toffee pudding and Manchester tart!
What a fabulous place to eat and meet. The food is stunning, served hot, tasty and promptly. The staff too are welcoming and warm . Highly recommended
I Was taken here as a birthday treat. We had afternoon tea. They serve a trio of canapés as a starter, when we asked what they were we didn't like any of them. They were very accommodating and changed them to what we did like. The cakes were tiny and not duplicated so we had to cut them in half to be able to try each of them, this madecthem even tinier. Service was brilliant, It's a shame I can't say the same for the atmosphere, there was a really loud boisterous party on a table close by and we struggled to hear each other speak. This was not really the Taverns fault though.
The best afternoon tea by far. Would highly recommend. Lovely staff too. I will certainly be returning 👌xx

Beautiful clean surrounding and friendly service. Had a bit of a wait time but something had happened. There manager was accommodating and apologized. The food is fault less all of the meat was just so soft. The children's meals are a good size too. I will definitely be returning think I may have found a little gem here.
Lovely place, nice food and the staff here are great. I would say however that the prices are on the higher side compared to other nearby restaurants that also serve good quality food.
Went for family celebration, 7 people. Perfect to be seated at a big round table. Service is impeccable, food wonderful, not too busy, definitely would recommend and definitely going to return.

I was taken here by my sister and had a truly wonderful meal chosen from an interesting and varied menu. It was early evening, so a bit quiet as far as atmosphere.
Very good food, great selection and smaller portions choice as well. Very comfortable and service was great.
Reasonable priced food with friendly and cheerful staff. Nice atmosphere and if you ask staff can give you a quiet corner for romantic dinning. 🥰🥰 Very suitable for dating.
Fabulous food , great atmosphere and friendly staff. Made a wonderful fuss of our Grandson for his 2nd birthday tea. Setting the table with a balloon and presenting him with a cake while singing "happy birthday" All in all a very enjoyable evening. Many thanks to Jane and her staff.
