The afternoon tea at the Garden Kitchen is amazing. The afternoon tea concept has become increasingly popular and one could argue if you've had one, you've had them all. However, at the Garden Kitchen it's that little bit different which makes it way more special than the average.
One of the best garden centers I've visited (and that's a long list)! The plants were beautiful and well-presented (forgot to get photos of them unfortunately but they were great), lots of unusual items and gifts and a great cafe with a couple of vegan options. A hidden gem in a lovely setting - don't miss it!
A beautiful garden centre that holds such an elegant atmosphere. It's styled very well and the condition of the plants are very healthy. I've bought a number of plants over the years and I've never been let down. Plants are arranged to give brilliant ideas that I want to buy everything! A great place to visit for a snack too. The newly opened Reading Room cafe is so comfortable.
Positive - Lovely place. Stunning aesthetic.
Negative - Food is a complete rip off unfortunately! Teacakes £2.50 served in a paper bag with a lump of butter that wasn't even spread, just plopped in-between the bread. £2.00 for water! Reminded me of the old Harry Enfield sketch where posh people spent lots of money on cheap things because they're oblivious to being ripped off and think it's posh to spend money haha. Not in the real world 😅
Lots of beautiful butterflies and honey bees which were absolutely amazing. Till staff super approachable and friendly.
Plants were absolutely stunning and lots of nick nacks for the garden.
Absolutely love visiting this place but really wish the cafe had some vegetarian or vegan options for breakfast. The oat milk option is great but unfortunately my family can never eat anything when I’m there due to the lack of options! The cafe manager is really lovely though.

My daughter recommended this garden centre and I was not disappointed. A real gem of a place. Plants a plenty and healthy in a beautiful setting. A lovely cafe with great food options and cakes. Will defo be back.
Stunning garden centre / nursery. Never seen anything quite like it. Literal gardeners paradise. Great cafe and dog friendly. Amazing stock of gifts and plants. Joy to find it. Staff were also lovely. Thank you for such a delightful visit.
Stunning location and gorgeously laid out, superb quality and selection of plants, competitive prices and some bargains to be found. Incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and friendly team which is often a result of a happy working environment. I've worked in horticulture for 35yrs and the ambience and beauty of this nursery is totally outstanding. Found this gem while on holiday and my whole family fell in love with the place. We came away with fab plants and metal sculptures as souvenirs for home to remember the lovely time we had. Thank you all.
Came here for food at Garden Kitchen (but temporarily closed) and came across this beautiful garden centre.
Ended up staying here for hours looking at flowers. It was like an IKEA experience but for flowers: you go in looking for inspiration and you come out buying everything.
The customer service was amazing and I received so much help for finding a plant, repotting my plants and learning an awful lot.
120% recommend.
Love this place. A “proper” garden centre with well cared for stock, friendly staff and a great café. Looks amazing at Christmas too!

Indoor shop with a array of fancy goods and terrariums etc .
Well worth a visit .
The Glasshouse at Holden Clough Nurseries is a beautiful place to visit with a great selection of houseplants, pots, ornaments and decorations.
Beautifully laid out garden area and fantastic garden and house accessories too. It's on a lovely big plot and I could have spent all day there!
one of the best plant nurseries I've been to. Good choice of healthy, reasonably priced plants and shrubs. lovely quirky gift shop with plant themed goods. loved the wallpaper in the ladies toilets. loved it all. AND it's dog friendly.
Really glad we visited here. We'd seen the RHS Tatton Park show display and had a couple of vouchers.
Simon was able to get the variety of Monada's he wanted, that had been scarce at more local places.
Yes we spent more than we thought we might but 14 plants for £65 is excellent value.
We'll almost certainly be back. Yes it's quite literally in the middle of nowhere but absolutely beautiful and worth the trip.
Good selection, but priced to the higher end of the market. Everything looked in good to excellent condition though.
The cafe/resturant though was 5 stars
I am a great fan of this place and even though I've moved to Cheshire I still visit and buy things. The biggest thing here is the plant quality and this is outstanding. I recently bought a forest pansy and I did shop around before hand and the specimen I got from Holden Clough was far better.
Lovely place in beautiful setting. Just needs a few more food choices .
