Found The Courtyard on Google for lunch as I was passing through on the way further south. A very yummy stop off - within the Bodmin Jail entrance but you don't have to have tickets to enter the restaurant. Food is delicious, I had the club sandwich and there was a mayo type sauce on it which made it amazing! Slightly higher price range I imagine if you are a large group or just looking for a quick bite but if you are a fan of good food and not fussed about the cost then definitely the place to stop in Bodmin. Had a lovely outside terrace with some shady and sunny bits with a more formal inside. Staff were very nice and had clearly been trained to give excellent customer service above and beyond the usual.

Great for a quick meal - it was empty on a weekday (between 1.30pm - 2.30pm) after our jail attraction tour. The halloumi fries were a generous portion, so were the chilli garlic prawns (a tad under seasoned and not spicey for our pallet- but pairs well with the salty halloumi). The pepperoni pizza was nice.. the main attatraction was was sticky toffee pudding (with clotted cream, Not ice cream). Just sublime... Great service too.

Very nice meal with friendly staff. We had 3 small plates (padron peppers and sea salt, ham croquettes and goats cheese and spinach croquettes) I personally wasn’t a fan of the goats cheese and spinach ones but that’s personal taste. My parents had the 2 course lunch menu. (Mushrooms on garlic bread and fish and chips). They had 2 lattes and we had tap water. The food and service was lovely.

We had breakfast here daily due to having dogs with us we could not go to the other restaurant, staff were brilliant, food was fantastic, only down side is its used as an office (3 out of the 4 mornings we stayed) so we listened to two different job interviews going on at the same time - was interesting 😊 and other business dealings as well as staff being told what to do. Amazingly on Saturday morning there was no sign of a laptop or office use. The staff each morning were bright and cheery and always made a fuss of our two boys, one morning they where treated to a sausage each. We also dined here some evenings, even had room service, it was fantastic each time. Had a few drinks in the outdoor area which was lovely too

This was the first time we have gone to this restaurant and it will not be the last, We decided to go to the Courtyard Restaurant for a Birthday meal for my wife 9th March, we arrived just before lunch and was seated straight away, we was given enough time to decide what we wanted from the menu, and when the food arrived it was well presented and it tasted great, unfortunately we did not take any photos of the food but can do this next time. We would also like to say a big thank you to the staff who were there that morning/afternoon they were helpful and polite and we look forward to coming back.

Lovely restaurant, seems very swanky but really isn't, dogs are allowed in. Prices are very reasonable 3 courses for less than £30 food was very nice, the chef likes to cook. Service was a bit messy to begin with but our server did a good job to keep everyone happy. Would definitely recommend, the surroundings are amazing. There is also a separate bar that you can use if you don't want to eat, called the champagne bar, toilets are very clean and modern.

Food was absolutely amazing, good service and lovely scenery. People can be really impatient which cause theyre bad reviews. Wait is good between food and dessert as it lets the food go down and settle for more room! Would definitely stay here again and even book a room. Stunning place

We got some takeaway food on Friday evening during Lockdown. The Manager was very helpful and generous and could not have been kinder. We ordered Pizza’s and Greek salad after a hospital trip. The Pizza was delicious , so big we had plenty of leftovers. The salad was enormous , plenty for two of us and packed with Feta. The home made Hummus was a bonus . We will definitely go and eat there again when everywhere is open.

Nice atmosphere and food good but service somewhat slow especially getting our order in. And if you are going to have a pasta dish for children please don’t use tagliatelle - whilst it was very amusing to watch our 7 year old grandson trying to eat it - what’s wrong with penne or something similar.

We ate lunch here on the opening day and had a tasty meal - we both chose the Buttermilk Chicken served in a brioche bun. The service was attentive and prompt and Covid-19 precautions were followed carefully. Even though the renovation of this building wasn't quite finished, it didn't detract from the history of the interesting former jail building. In February the Bodmin Jail hotel is due to open - looks like a great concept hotel. Best wishes to the Team!

Best Nachos in the country! Cheese was melted over several layers of Nachos, Jalapeños a plenty, salsa wasn’t too mild and just spicy enough to be a proper salsa, sour cream was light and fluffy and the guacamole was smooth and tasty. All together it was a closed eyes moment!

So proud and honoured to be the first customers of the new Bodmin Jail restaurant The Jolly Hangman. The breakfast brioche was delicious and cappuccino to die for. All the staff were wonderful, very friendly. We would like to wish you all, all the luck in the world with restaurant and your plans for the future. Keep up the good work Colin and Julie

Lovely restaurant for afternoon tea. Shame there was not a vegan cake on offer it would have scored five starts. Lovely toilets too.
