Went here whilst on holiday last night. Absolutely rushed off their feet with their new opening, but it was definitely worth the wait! Some of the best food (especially the cajun cod steak) we have ever had. Lovely place and a hardworking friendly team of staff, would highly recommend to anyone passing
Fabulous Birthday meal tonight. Great menu especially all the vegetarian options. Service was great (from both the bar staff and waitresses) with huge portions of freshly cooked food. Would highly recommend
We took our daughter for a meal to celebrate her 43rd birthday and although it was quite busy with Wednesday "roast day" the service and food was absolutely brilliant. I'm coeliac and wanted fish without batter so had it baked/grilled. Husband had ham, egg and chips and daughter had a steak and all was delicious. Friendly staff and excellent food and our favourite place to eat out.
I’ve been three times in the last two months & every time the service has been fantastic, all of the food for everyone eating on all occasions has been faultless & serviced hot! Such a rare thing around restaurants in this area!
I’m vegetarian & it is so refreshing to have more than two options on the menu! The Gnocchi is by far the best I’ve ever had anywhere! I love my deserts too & they have a delicious & varied pudding menu too!
Finally the portions are large & the prices fair!
I will definitely be making more regular visits to this pub as they seem to know exactly what they’re doing!
Keep doing exactly what you’re doing guys!!
We visited last night for Valentines and our Wedding Anniversary meal and thank you so much for such an enjoyable evening, fantastic meal and friendly service; could not have wished for better! I was born and bred in Lanivet, will definately visit again and recommend
17 people for my 40th birthday meal and nothing was to much trouble. Food was fantastic and service was great. I would highly recommend it and I'm really fussy . Thank you all
On behalf of all of us we would like to say a big thank you for hosting the buffet following a family funeral on Thursday. The food was excellent and everyone who came passed on their compliments. We would recommend you to anyone.
Lovely pub, great range of local drinks and wonderful food. All the family are welcome including dogs
Sunday roast to die for ( book to avoid disappointment )
Lovely little local pub buzzing with a great atmosphere! Had such a lovely meal and evening that we went back for roast the following day which was delicious!! Highly recommend!!
It was a Friday evening, we hadn't booked but the staff were accommodating and managed to fit us in. The staff were fabulous and the food was more than ok! Advice to anyone! This is a popular pub so make sure you book to avoid disappointment. When I return to Cornwall, I'll certainly return to the pub.
We came here to recover from emptying an old cottage as it is close to the dump. We have been completely revived. Nothing was too much for the staff, the menu and food completely hit the spot, despite our completely disheveled appearance.
At very short notice they managed to fit a party of 13 in.We all had amazing food and the service was fantastic. This is our new favourite place and we cant wait to try the rest of the menu.
Drove past so many times but never been in before. So glad we popped in for lunch yesterday. Great quality food and huge portions with friendly knowledgeable service. Mixed grill, hunters chicken and kids ham, egg & chips. Awesome. We will be back!
Very friendly staff lovely food and they made room for us at short notice, very impressed
Came with family who were visiting. Fantastic food, loved my liver starter and family loved their feathered steak. Staff were great as always, equally so was management. Never been disappointed here and the extended restaurant is lovely to be able to eat tucked away from the bar area.
Lovely pub and friendly Helpful Staff, food was lovely and hot, my son loved playing pool most of the evening , and a very peaceful stopover in our T5 .....Thanks
I came here for a meal out with my wife, brother and his girlfriend. We didn't book but just kind of found it nearby our campsite and thought we'd go out for dinner. We arrived, parked and headed in. It was fairly busy. We asked for a table and we're seated. Wooden chairs, clean table, carpet, windows, a big TV.
They swiftly brought us menus, we ordered drinks, they brought the drinks. I had a tribute and it was fantastic. So far, so good.
They took our food orders. It came quite fast. It was all pretty nice. The lasagne had very little meat in but tasted good. The katsu curry was very spicy but the menu didn't warn that would be the case. But it was all enjoyable enough.
Then it all went a bit downhill. There was clearly a quiz starting soon. We aren't locals, and perhaps it's wrong to judge a pub on one occasion, but this was our only occasion so how else can we judge it? When we arrived and asked for a table there was no mention of a quiz. The place quickly became packed and rowdy. We couldn't hear ourselves talking.
The staff didn't come back to take a pudding order. They just totally forgotten t about us. After maybe 45 minutes I went went to ask for someone to take our pudding orders. Someone came but didn't know what the cheesecake of the day was. My sister in law ordered it on chance as they clearly weren't going to go and find out. Turns out it was a Toffee flavour. She hated it. My pudding was excellent (the brownie). My wife ordered sticky toffee pudding with custard. It came with ice cream instead.
So it started well but they became uninterested in us when the quiz was starting. We quickly paid up and left. Nobody came to ask how our puddings we're or showed any interest in the fact that it wasn't all eaten.
Maybe another night would have been a much better experience. Overall I've still given 4 stars as it was pretty good.
Super little pub. Very warm and friendly staff and a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. We had a lovely meal, the food was hot and delicious. I had the soup of the day (carrot and lentil) which must be the best that I've ever tasted. My son had the creamy mushrooms, which were excellent, as was my husband's choice of the chilli loaded chips. We will definitely be coming back.
Was greeted by staff and made to feel welcome... the food was excellent we both had the belly pork with dauphinoise potatoes. very good service by all.. very good value for money and plenty of parking space in car park. HIghly recommended will be going back very soon
Booked for my birthday but was running late so asked if we could move the booking, not a problem.
Arrived at said time & greeted by the chef to whom we apologized for our delayed booking.
Ordered our meals which came out in very good time & were fantastic. I personally had the mushroom & pea risotto (one of my favorite dishes) absolutely 100%. Lovely friendly service too.
Top marks for a top Pub.
Cheers you've made my evening.
Nice venue and the outdoor tent is great.
Staff seem friendly and accomodating.
The food okay but wouldn't hurt to add some seasoning, some herbs maybe.
Whilst visiting the area, wanted to go out for a good evening meal. We were advised by someone working in St Austell's Brewery, that Lanivet Inn aka "Panda" serves good food and local beers. Booked a table for 7pm (good that we did, as it was quite full). We were greeted by friendly bar staff and soon showed us to our table. Food was more than just a pub food.. ordered 3x starters for two of us and a mix grill to share. Food was exeptionally good and portions were more than decent! Lamb chop and steak were done to perfection and were soft with no chewy or tough bits.. Even the chips were done perfectly, to be honest!
Service was great and staff are really friendly!
Pub itself has a fair bit of history to it as well as why it's known as "Panda".
If I'll ever go that way, I'd definitely eat there again!
Pretty wonderful - stuffed to the gunwales but still found room for us. Another pair of customers came outside to get us to share their table inside as it was cold out there. Never met b4 but clearly typical of the clientele. You can't beat that really, can you! Food was pretty good too much 😊
We had a roast dinner, the meat, veg and Yorkshire pudding were lovely, I would have preferred my roast potatoes a little bit more cooked and crispy. Other than that though the food was lovely. Puddings were delicious.
The service from all staff we interacted with was very friendly and welcoming.
I would have preferred to be seated somewhere else as we were right next to the kitchen in/out and one of our guests had a couple of bumps from the door.
We love Lanivet Inn. I lived in the Village about 25 years ago and it has changed so much.If you come off the Bodmin bypass Lanivet sits just below on the old road. We didn't book and that wasn't a problem. We sat in the main bar but would advise to ask if you can be seated in the dining rooms further down if you want a quiet meal but if like us you prefer to watch sport(football in our case) it's great. Being a Sunday we ordered roast lunch. My husband had the large which was enormous with a mix of Beef,Pork & Turkey.Dishes of fresh veg which was really generous helpings. My small roast was a one choice of Roast Pork with the most perfect crackling. Prices for this were really good. Outside at the pub is a front area facing the road with plenty of tables and at the rear there is a fantastic gazebo/marquee and a covered garden seating. Good parking but if it was full just a minutes walk is a public car park.
We sat outside as quite noisy inside for the dog, food was fast and tasted and looked great, good value for money and great variety to choose from
