I have always loved this pub and I’ve said before it is my favourite pub in Suffolk.
We have been wanting to come again since the pub has had a change in ownership and I’m thrilled to say it is still my favourite pub in Suffolk. Not that I should have doubted my opinion changing because new owners had taken over, but sometimes change can be bad, in this instance change is very very good, indeed.
The pub still has the same beautiful charm it always had and a welcoming and inviting ambience. The staff were so helpful and attentive.
The menu has had a refreshing uplift (whilst I loved the menu previously, I have to say this one had that little bit extra). So many inviting food choices and I loved that on the mains you could opt for a smaller size where you can then squeeze in a pudding and even a starter. It was perfect for my gran who doesn’t like being over faced with food.
The food menus change regularly, everything is completely fresh and made to order with a huge emphasis on home grown. Even the mayonnaise was homemade... and it was delicious.
I ordered the pork burger, a thick, mouthwatering and fulfilling burger, with bacon and Monterrey Jack cheese, served with thick and crispy, yet fluffy chips. Others in our party had steak which was asked to be cooked blue, which they did and perfectly. The special of the day which was the pork belly, which was beautiful and the meat very tender and a small portion of sausage and mash.
The food was absolutely delicious, plentiful portions and beautifully served. I can’t believe I have waited so long to come back! I loved the food here and the pub before and I love it even more now.
Can’t wait for our next visit.

This has to be my favourite pub in Suffolk! It's everything you want a pub to be! Roaring fire, cosy and welcoming, old and historical, amazing food and good beer/wine/cider!! Plus they love dogs!
It's the type of pub where you can enjoy a fabulous meal and end up having one too many drinks because you have forgotten the world outside its doors!!!
We will be back again soon!
Had a beautiful family evening here. Beautiful pub with lovely little play bit outside along with the animal bit. The pigs are so friendly and funny. Our little boy loved it.such a friendly family environment.Had a beautiful meal in the dining area next to a beautiful snug.staff were efficient friendly and the service and meal was amazing. I'd highly recommend this pub and we shall be returning again.
Dropped in for a couple of beers en route to Wenhaston. Great pint with friendly and efficient service and the menu was excellent. Sadly, we'd already made plans for lunch but the pub was soon quite busy with lots of covers. Judging by the food that appeared this was not a surprise. Will be eating there in future but highly recommended for a swift pint anyway.
Lovely Suffolk village pub with a selection of three hand pumps serving the Adnams ales. Excellent food and friendly and helpful staff. Came for a pub lunch with my father, sister, brother-in-law and nephew. Service was great and the food and drink were excellent.
Great pub, friendly welcoming helpful staff, great food with generous sized portions too!!! They are more than happy to provide excellent food for a vegan coeliac which admittedly isn't an easy combination to feed from my experience at other establishments!! Glad the pub is only 2.5 miles away as I'm definitely visiting again!! Anyone for the quiz?? ;-)
Thank you for a lovely meal on Friday night. The lady and gent who served us did an excellent job taking care of us and the food was also excellent. Reasonably priced, wonderful selection of food on offer and all served piping hot and beautifully presented. We had a sharing platter followed by the pork dish; all perfectly cooked, especially the pork. Thank you so much! Kelly & Tom xx
Popped in here today for a drink what a beautiful pub, we didn't eat today but will definitely be back as menu looked really appealing! Staff were so lovely and made time to have a chat and made us very welcome, thank you!
What a little gem of a pub. Friendly staff and absolutely gorgeous food. I had the roast chicken breast with dauphinois potatoes. Was delicious.

Just stopped by for a couple of drinks after a day out in Southwold but was given a warm and friendly greeting it had obviously been very busy over the lunchtime which is always a good sign the menu looked great and we will definitely book a table for dinner this week as we are staying nearby. There was also a nice little room for children with soft chairs books and toys a really nice touch.
Fantastic old style pub with amazing food & extremely polite curtious service. Will definitely be returning & recommending to family & friends
The food here is totally awesome. Sunday beef roast wow!!!!!
Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Best Sunday lunch ever!!!
It was a very nice pub the staff was nice and polite the food was really nice worth the money and they had toys and sand pit for children to play and they were happy
Dog friendly. Fabulous food, I had the Beer Braised Chicken and hubby had the Big Sticky Burger with a side of chips. (Photo shows burger with the top off.) Would well recommend.
Went here on the chance of getting a table. Luckily it was quiet. Very happy with what we got. This is a rustic pub inside and it is what it is. The food was superb and more than enough. The chips are amazing.
Great food and service. Dog friendly.
Had the roast turkey which was very tasty.
Great that small portions are also available.
Beautifully quaint English pub. Excellent food quality, the fish was battered to perfection!
It was fantastic experience of the foods and dessert that I ever had for long long time. Belly of pork was the top quality also Vegetarian option was fantastic. Staffs were very friendly and informative can't do enough for you, great services and reasonable price, strongly recommended.
Just had the most beautiful and probably the best Christmas Roast we've ever had. My hubby and i popped in today (Thursday) and although a quiet weekday, the owners were most hospitable. When this pub is in full flow the atmosphere must be even more lovely. Cosy pub with an open fire. Loved it and will be returning on our next day out. Thank you 😊
The best vegan meal I’ve ever eaten and fantastic value for money. My family had the lamb roast and said it was the most unique they’ve had. Also recommend the fish and chips because of the red pepper ketchup alone!
Absolut lecker.

Absolutely delicious. Everything was very good, cooked with regional products. The bratwursts were so good. I come from the bratwurst city of Nuremberg in Germany. I know something about bratwursts. These were from a good butcher and fried “to perfection”. A good amount of vegetables (also well seasoned and crunchy) and good freshly made mashed potatoes rounded off the dish. I would like to give 10 points.
Absolutely fantastic food, the Korean chicken thighs were a highlight. Really friendly welcome and plenty of games for entertainment! Would highly highly recommend!
Fantastic local pub serving incredible food. Honestly the best roast I've ever had. The landlord & Chef was fantastic, adapted a burger and chips for my pregnant wife and what arrived was stunning. Fantastic waitress that couldn't have done anything more for us, if you're in the area and googling pubs THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU
