I've been to the Nelson during the day and the evenings, lovely family run pub. A big selection of ales, beers, ciders and spirits. Food is great and the beer garden is mohoosive. Staff are really friendly, even when it's busy you get served promptly. Would recommend.

Beautiful Cold Heineken from a chilled glass served by lovely people, what better way to spend a sunny day than in their newly refurbished beer garden, ABSOLUTE sun trap. Thoroughly recommended. Definitely worth having a look at the NEW menu aswell, Something for every palette.

Had another superb Sunday Lunch today. The atmosphere is equally good with all ages welcome. It was a pleasure to eat a fabulous meal surrounded by a good mix of people, including (well behaved) children. The service is first class and it is a real pleasure to see this establishment come back to life. Highly recommended.....

Very warm and friendly welcome from the lady behind the bar today for lunch. Chicken burger, chunky chips and salad £10.50! Bacon cheese burger, chunky chips and salad £12.50! Amazing value I’m going to try the home made lasagna next time. Salad wasn’t just a bit of lettuce, but a decent freshly prepared salad with pepper, red onion, cress ect exceptional and very reasonably price food and drinks, the best value food in town. The bar is full of some old characters adding to the traditional pub atmosphere. Garden was clean and tidy, will be back soon 🍻

Lovely pub, staff are very friendly. We parked along the road as they don’t have a car park, but don’t be put off , there is parking close by. The food was great.

Travelled down from Newcastle Upon Tyne to spend the new year with friends. They took us out today for a pub meal and can’t fault it all. The staff extremely friendly and welcoming. Clean premises and the food was fantastic. Would definitely recommend

Lovely pub with welcoming, friendly staff. We had the sea food platter which was excellent. It was our first visit to the Nelson today and we will definitely return. The garden is very pretty, well cared for with lots of flowers. Excellent!

Decided to have an early diner with my 89yr old mum, wifey, daughter. Mum had scampi with chips and we all had different steaks as it was a steak day (Sunday). The chaps behind the bar did a great job of making us feel welcome and seating us straight away. The TV was noisy but the staff turned it down when we asked. Our food didn’t take long and we had already had our drinks. We did ask the bar staff what they liked and recommended but they had little knowledge, they should be given some of the food to try and then they would have more knowledge. The food was quite good, only really marred by the fact that it was all very expensive, not sure if I felt I got value for money. That’s the reason for the 4 stars, £15 for scampi is a lot! Anyway, I think I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice meal in nice surroundings.

Had evening meal here. Staff friendly and helpful. My food was tasty and my friends said they all enjoyed theirs. Must admit the price was good too. Would come again if we were in the area. Thanks to all at Nelson's

Was a quite lunchtime so hard for them to create an atmosphere. Food was well priced and the chips were awesome. Not a huge range of craft ales but had a light and hoppy and a bitter on so something for everyone.

I had scampi with salad and chips. I am sure it was proper scampi. The chips were excellent and the salad was fresh and not too much. My wife had a jacket and tuna mayo with salad. Very pleased with it. Including 2 drinks £28. It was a very pleasant atmosphere no music, that's Thursday night, mainly middle aged customers. Very clean nice interior.
