We were staying in the neighbouring village and were looking for a place to go for dinner and found this place. Absolutely love this place. We had no booking but they squeezed us in for a later hour, and it was worth the wait. Food was delicious, we had a sea bass dish and a sea trout dish, and treated myself with a Plum & Almond Frangipane. Big thanks also to the amazing team on site.
We were so glad we visited this restaurant on our recent weekend trip to Norfolk. The food was insanely good, service great and it's a lovely location. I have nothing negative to say at all. Even the price was extremely reasonable for the quality we received. Can't recommend enough!
Excellent food from a fish focused menu. Not a huge selection but we much prefer a smaller number of dishes done well, which these were, with very well prepared and presented starters, mains and deserts. Friendly and helpful staff who were very accommodating of my wife's food allergy. Desserts are excellent! Loses a star just for the two sittings, which means it feels a bit rushed if you are on the early evening sitting. However, I fully understand the financial need to do this as it is a small restaurant with limited covers.
We’ve been there for dinner with my partner and we both had a good dinner.
We started with some bread and olives, which were good, before moving to scallops and the crab cake. Scallops were good, while the crab cake wasn’t incredibly flavourful.
The mains (sea trout and sea bass) were the part of the meal we enjoyed the most - the sea bass was prepared in a quite delicate manner and the sea trout was delicious.
We completed our dinner with creme brûlé and a summer pudding (both okay).
Staff is kind and welcoming, the place is quite nice. Prices ok
My goodness, what a find! We had got caught out without a dinner reservation (you should probably book something for Saturday night in Blakeney 🙈) but these guys managed to squeeze us in for one course. It's an unpretentious restaurant, quite buzzy with friendly staff. Bread and olives to start with are good. There's a reasonable wine list and a few lagers and local ales available. We both had fish main courses - mine was the halibut (pictured) - and both were excellent, beautifully cooked with subtle flavours. They come with side veg. It's not cheap but I don't mind paying a bit more for genuinely better food. Not a great place for wheelchair users - there are steps up to the front door , the tables are quite close together and the toilets have lots of doors. The toilets were clean.
We revisited The Moorings after three years and I'm so glad we did! We had a lovely three course meal with the main dish of seabass standing out.
I asked for an alternative to the pancetta peas and the restaurant obliged, giving me samphire instead which was beautiful.
The potato and green beans as sides were delicious too.
Starters and pudding were good but definitely worth it for the Seabass and the overall service (attentive and friendly, especially the young waiter!)
Really enjoyed dinner at this family run gem - excellent fish soup, followed by sea bass and superb treacle sponge pudding. Both the food and service were really good and will definitely return. Not to be missed if you're in the area.
Very yellow room!
Postives: The presentation and flavour combinations were fantastic. Delicious extra side of dauphinoise potatoes and fine beans.
Service was good.
Negatives: Perhaps we had bad luck, but the execution of our dishes was poor in areas - curdled and very vinegary hollandaise on the asparagus starter, watery puddles from monkfish that washed out the tasty flavours, very fatty rolled lamb that was either a very bad cut or not properly reduced down, and the single cream with the pecan tart felt like a step down.
Lovely food and service. Wish we could have visited more than once during our time at Blakeney!
This is one of our absolute favourite places to eat out when we are visiting the area. Great food, warm friendly staff, and Angela's puddings are legendary.
We had a fantastic dinner at The Moorings. The seafood risotto was amazing and the fish was extremely fresh. Very good value for money!!!
We had an excellent dinner here, such a gem! 100% recommended. The fish was fresh and cooked perfectly, the fish soup was to die for and the venison my friend had looked delicious. The side dishes were moreish, too. I finished off with a ginger pud which was a comforting delight. I'd go back to Blakeney just to eat at this restaurant again.
A fantastic, small, unpretentious restaurant. Simple, but delicious food with impeccable service and a beautiful location. Could not recommend any more highly!
Delicious, beautifully presented food and very friendly service in a cosy restaurant. Dessert portion sizes are huge!
One of the best meals we have had in a long while. We were treated to a meal out and a quick search quickly showed that this place rivalled the local Michelin starred restaurant. A few moments in and having glanced at the menu and it was clear to see why.
Stunning food, we ended up having three courses because it was all so delicious, wonderful staff and there was not a spare table when we arrived. There was also a good selection of wines and the pudding board spoke for itself. My husband was very happy, and we both had to stop ourselves devouring more of the side dishes in order to leave appropriate space. We have already recommended and hope to return soon!
Me and my partner somewhat stumbled on this little place. It's won a number of awards including being in the good food guide for multiple years.
It certainly deserves it, we shared two of the local carb dishes on the menu, and both were a joy. This didn't fully prepare us for the pudding menu, which was even better! Throw in a beautiful local beer and a cheeky white wine, and it made for a restorative and delicious lunch.
Well recommended!
Book in advance very popular and you ll understand why if you eat there. Great food and service. One of the best small independent restaurants I v eaten in. Amazing fish dishes and a really nice menu.
Had a great time at this restaurant. The staff were friendly, quick and accommodating, and they talked us through the menu which they knew very well. We all picked the right choices and despite everything on the table being delicious, nobody ended up envious of anyone else's dish. A testament to the quality of the whole menu, as well as the attentiveness of the staff.
All the dishes that arrived at the table were very tasty (we had three courses) and the portions were large. My highlight was the fish soup, which was phenomenal, and the potato side which we're still trying to work out how they made so delicious!
Would recommend this restaurant to anyone, but it suited us particularly well, the food was a good mix of fancy and hearty, in a relaxed setting with a nice buzz. The sort of food you would normally get dressed up for, but in a place that will accept you straight from your walk on the coast!
