Venue, food and service were great. I had blackpudding with poached egg, the blackpudding wasn't the most flavoursome I've had but overall it was a good starter. I had Gammon steak with pineapple and fried egg; everything about this was great! Beer was good and the service was very friendly and quick. We're over visiting friends and family as we emigrated and it was really nice to go to a good quality pub as we can't get this traditionally feel in Canada.

Food was very good, tasty and really well presented. Not expensive for the quality. We will definitely visit again.

Went here for the first time today. I had the roast chicken breast dinner, which I must say was outstanding. The chicken was fresh and moist and the vegetables held their flavour. ( not boiled to flaverlous mush). The staff all seem to be young however, they were all brilliant. Service is excellent. We would definitely go here again and would recommend it yo friends and family.

First visit here on the suggestion of a friend. We could not fault it. The food was delicious with a wide selection of food on the menu. The service was outstanding. The staff couldn't do enough for us. It is quite rural however and so it means one of us had to drive, but it was nice to be out somewhere a bit different. Update: I returned with my other half tonight. We were seated in the bar but we found it to be too noisy with people and a couple of dogs barking at each other. We asked if we could be moved from the bar into the restaurant, which they were able to accommodate, though we were given a time to leave the table, but it was 2 hrs after we turned up and there was plenty of time to eat 3 courses!

Quality food, well presented and tasty. As a vegetarian I was spoilt for choice and refreshing to see a varied and inventive menu. Good range of wines and cocktails too. Great gastropub food, will definitely return.

Our first visit, we joined some friends on our way home from Manchester to Cumbria. A splendid venue, great food, drink and a most friendly welcome. Good car park. They made everything easy and enjoyable. We will go again.

The food was amazing and the staff were so friendly, the only thing was that they weren't very attentive. We had to ask to order after about 45 minutes. Don't let this put you off though, it's a fabulous place.

First visit . Very nice country pub. Greeted on arrival with very friendly staff. Casual service meaning not rushed. Excellent menu at decent prices and first class cask beer. Meals were well presented, hot and well cooked. Dined in the dinning room after reading reviews about noise in bar area. Yes the music was very loud which was comfortable listening at the back of the dining room which is a lovely room with some booths and room between tables for quiet conversation. Will be going again.

The food was absolutely amazing! I will 100% be going back again, I've heard of 4/5 people how great it is and I was not disappointed, The only criticism I would have is where we were seated, right next to the bar in the pub side rather than the restaurant side so it was hard to have a conversation at points and we had to raise our voices and did ruin the experience slightly but nevertheless I will still be returning!

I ordered Lancashire cheese and onion pie with spicy beans, turned out they had stopped the spicy beans but had forgotten to change on menu, menu had today's date (27th August) on it. Also personal taste but the wines could have been better.
