My wife and I have been to the Red Lion for a meal on maybe 6 occasions now so I thought it only fair that I reviewed it. I guess some would say that if we have been 6 times that is review enough! There is pretty much something for everyone at the Red Lion, there is a large play area outside for young children and plenty of tables to sit at and keep an eye on them. Inside is a large restaurant to the left, a smaller eating area mainly designed for the bar snack side of things on the right and further through on the right the main bar area, again with plentiful seating for food if you so wish. There is an extensive menu of the "beefeater" style which in my mind has improved considerably over the last few years. Portion sizes are average to large, dependant on the dish, not many people could complain about not enough food. The menu offers quite a few discounts like "two courses for £7.50" or "£6 before 6pm" - don't quote me verbatim on those, they are just the "sort of offers". the offers are very good value, especially from lunch time until tea time. All the meals we have had have been of good quality and well presented, especially for a pub chain. These are not gourmet meals, but they are good. The wine list is pretty extensive too, house wine around the £13 mark which is acceptable, more to the point it is quite good too. The Red Lion is a great place to eat and chat, especially for families (they provide high chairs too) and the staff have always been very helpful and polite. Give it a go!
Service here was brilliant, all the bar staff were friendly and nice and the atmosphere was good! Food left something to be desired as most of it was either over or underdone for the breakfast, also one day we were there it wasn't buffet style which sort of defeats the point of an all you can eat. The menu items for the evening like the wings were good but the nachos we ordered didn't have the toppings we had asked for so a little disappointed in that respect but overall it was really pleasant and the staff were very welcoming.
Went to my first Beefeater last week and was impressed. Especially as we had a voucher giving 40% of our bill. Got another voucher via e Mail offering one free meal when you bought two. I had also registered for the Rewards card after the first visit and so decided to take a drive out, do some shopping and try another Beefeater establishment.
Huge car park outside and it looked a massive building. Easy access even for people with mobility problems. As I said it was huge building and was the same inside. Would hate to guess how many covers they could serve here. I already knew what I wanted having looked at the menu online. I went for the Steak Sampler. 3 x 4oz steaks. Rump, sirloin and fillet. Ordered medium rare. My brother went for the 10oz Gammon, egg and chips. Our server said they had no pineapple so they could give him a second egg. My brother said he thought this would be too much so asked for a few extra chips. He also likes his egg hard. Numerous times we have been out and, despite asking for this, the egg has been soft. Happy to say this wasn’t the case this time. He got his egg well cooked with a hard yoke. And a huge pile of chips.
The food was piping hot. Decent sized portions. Obviously at these prices it wasn’t the best steak I have ever had but I definitely had no complaints. Even the peppercorn sauce was good. A little thin but I found it tasty with a decent kick to it. Then came the best bit. The bill. I showed our server the discount code I had on the e mail on my phone and presented my Rewards card. He made a note of the code and took my card away before returning with the bill. I couldn’t believe what we had been charged once the discount had been applied. The £22.99 for the steak had been taken off the bill and the total including 2 pints of lager and a large glass of Rioja was £29.68. Absolutely fantastic value for money. Ok, it’s not the greatest food you will ever eat but in terms of value it’s excellent. I would recommend you get a Reward card and look out for any offers or money off deals online then visit and enjoy a pretty decent meal at a rock bottom price.
Like the last Beefeater we visited the place was very tidy. Also nice and warm despite the freezing temperatures outside. I used the disabled toilet. It was spotlessly clean. My brother used the main toilets. He also commented on how clean they were.
As long as Beefeater keep sending me such good money off deals I will continue to use them. They have a pretty extensive menu and a number of dishes I would be happy to try. Hopefully will be trying another of their establishments fairly soon. Just a shame there isn’t one closer to home.
Lovely little restaurant with plenty of choice. The food was gorgeous, I had a mix grill which was beautifully cooked. The sausage was beautiful. My partner had a steak which also was super yummy. We were staying in blackpool for a overnight stay at south shore which is a bit of a distance from Beef Eater. We enjoyed our meal that much, we returned for breakfast the next morning and that too was just as beautiful. Staff and service 10/10 highly recommended for a meal. Nothing was too much trouble.
I had the 3 course meal and upgraded to the sirloin for an extra £1.50 as its a leaner cut. Unfortunately I appear to have paid extra for more fat and gristle than I would have got on the rump steak. You do seem to get a very small amount of steak sauce for £1.99 too. Food is usually not too bad here so maybe I just got a bad one. But on this visit I wasn't terribly impressed.
Food tasty, went for lunch and didn’t have to wait too long for it to come out. Took advantage of the lunchtime offer of two mains for £12.99. The three members of staff who dealt with us were very pleasant.
A great pub for food and drinks! They have outdoor play area facilities for younger children. Staff were friendly and welcoming. This bar has a good choice of beers. I was really impressed with the food! The fish and chips came well flavoured and was very enjoyable! Highly recommended!
Had a really nice breakfast. Staff were warm friendly and welcoming. Food was hot and fresh. Will come again when we're in the area. Thanks guys job well done
Visited the Red Lion today it was my wife’s 86 Birthday absolutely fantastic evening, Sophie G 5822 served us and looked after us during our meal very helpful and professional nothing was to much trouble for her. Will definitely call again.
The place is nice. We're surprised it's not busy because it's the holiday. Their food is also delicious though we had to wait for it to get prepared for about 10mins or so but it's worth the wait.
Quick visit for lunch, special menu, very nice. Staff, welcoming, polite, and efficient. Good, 'All you can eat breakfast'. Nice setting. Free parking
Delicious food we went for breakfast so much choice
I am not from Blackpool but we have family there they suggested that we eat there I don't do Sunday lunch as a rule but me and my husband has a Sunday lunch share platter which was the best thing ever we were blown away by the amount of meat and vegetables were oon it I would definitely tell you to have this if one of you likes to eat. Alot and like myself I don't eat that much and it's usually waisted so this was just up my street
Great food and service. From ordering food to serve took about 15 minutes. A bit more expensive than a lot of pubs but food is worth it.
Breakfast excellent and waitress very polite and friendly. Evening meal OK but Salad on plate needs to be looked at!!
Popped in whilst in the area. Manager was nice as was then young girl who served us (Destiny) if I’m in the area again I would pop back in
