Spent a highly enjoyable day at Lytham St Annes beach, traditional family beach and fantastic day out, ended our day at the Shovels. The perfect end to the perfect day. Sat outside in the beer garden, fantastic cheerful staff, excellent service and delicious food, dog friendly too.
Lovely place with great staff, highly recommended.
Visited for the first time in years early evening on a Tuesday in October for tea.
Surprised how busy it was - we didn't book, but just about managed to get a table, many were reserved but quite a few remained unoccupied for all the time we were there which seemed odd. So probably best to book ahead even on a day when you'd expect it to be quiet.
The place is lovely. Excellent staff and good food with very good prices.
The food was great, and I ordered using app, it took about 40 minutes, but it was very busy. The cocktails were on special offer, and dog and child friendly
Daughter loves the burgers, says they're the best ever. The food has always been tasty and good portion size. Friendly staff, and nice atmosphere.
Food was amazing, service was fantastic, good priced tasty food
Lovely and friendly pub! Great customer service.
Very clean & perfect to bring children.
We have a few allergies & always worry when ordering at a new place. The staff were great at explaining and made me feel so at ease.
Highly recommend.
Had a great meal here earlier, lovely place. Meals are great value for money. Our waiter was so helpful, I didn't get his name but he was very hardworking.

We had our last meal here before we went back it they let us stay WHILES we ate and waiting for our driver to come
It's not our local but its a pub we always enjoy coming to (especially after any stressful motorway journeys) and the service is always great. A good choice of beer on tap, bottled beers and ciders and a good range of various spirits.
They also have a range of live sports on the numerous TV screens, as well weekly quizzes and different daily deals which are great value.
Tyler the barman is always welcoming and, as someone who's worked in the profession , I can tell is very good at his job and enjoys his work.
Whether you're a local or visiting the area I'd definitely recommend a visit.
A great experience. Food was hot and very tasty and a great selection def something for everyone … staff all polite and helpful… our server was Steven and he was polite and courteous … cleanliness was also very high
Eat there often.. Good value meals and important to me that it's dog friendly..
Would of given the 5 stars if it wasn't for two issues.. I often find there are scraps of food around the table from previous customers and I appreciate it can get busy but it makes it awkward with a dog as don't want him eating it for obvious reasons especially if contained onions etc, on this occasion I pointed it out to a member of staff who could only say sorry and as he was rushed off his feet I decided to put the dog in the car for the duration which was a first for me and made me feel uneasy during my meal which was well over an hour due to the busy period.
The second reason is I never understand why I'm charged £2 for tap water with a cordial when water alone is offered free. Yet my friend has tonic water and cordial which is actually cheaper but I prefer not to have anything fizzy etc. Maybe I should be given cordial (obviously charged for) and option to use water that's available on the bar. Otherwise... All good and will keep returning.
We went to Shovels last night for tea as a family the atmosphere was lovely when we walked in. With my mum and dad being a bit older they like to feel comfortable where we go so this was spot on for them. We ordered our meals from the bar. We had lovely customer service from who served us. He was very polite to us when ordering so the service was brilliant. We ordered 4 main meals to come out and didn't wait long at all for our food which was great. I had steak which was cooked just how I wanted. My mum and dad had the scampi and fish and chips and my daughter had the gammon everyone of them said how lovely the food was. We will definitely be back to visit soon so Thankyou to the Shovels for a lovely evening.
Ate here for the first time tonight and my server Tyler was absolutely fantastic. He went above and beyond to ensure that our experience was top notch. We will definitely be returning for the service alone. Thank you The Shovels and Tyler for such a great experience
This is the family's usual go to pub for food. Yesterday we decided to do the steak fondue challenge. Steak was cooked to perfection was good quality too. The amount of food on this platter for £20 is unbelievable value.
The only criticism I would give is they allow dogs to be anywhere in the pub. Which for people pile my husband and daughter is a problem as they are allergic. Maybe a separate section needs to be dedicated to dogs so it doesn't effect everyone else.
Good food, good choices for vegan/ vegetarians. Good pub grub. The only down fall was the drinking glasses, they need to be washed properly, had a bottle of water but the glass smelled of wet dog. Had a pint and the same.
Stay Saturday 7th October for the night in the motor home prior to a Scooter Rally on the Sunday.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, food was excellent and very reasonably priced.
Thank you for letting us stay, i quarantine we’ll be back, Soon

Waited an hour between starters and mains, enquired with a waiter about where the food was, he said there was a 45 minute wait for food and then stated “Oh. If you’ve ordered off the app you wont know that.” And then walked off.
Food eventually came and half of it was wrong, or came with toppings/condiments that weren’t on the app when ordered. Again, he stated that the app isn’t up to date and the physical menu tells you what is in products. Didn’t seem very helpful at all.
As for the pub itself, it’s a great atmosphere and plenty of seating, quite busy with a nice outside area.
Lovely warm atmosphere, great value for money with some superb food and portion sizes. Being able to bring the dogs with the little treat station was wonderful.
Fantastic food as always, particularly the chocolate fudge cake, served quickly even though the pub was full. Service by James was second to none and really made the experience even better - would definitely return! Thanks James 😀
