Unfortunately, we arrived on a rather cold and miserable Sunday morning to have breakfast.
It would have been lovely to sit outside and watch life go by in this lovely little enclave but unfortunately the persistent rain and wind put paid to that idea!
The welcome we received was in stark contrast to the rather bleak weather outside, it was warm and friendly and welcoming. A bright airy café with nicely spaced out tables.
The breakfast menu was a nice surprise, not the cheapest, but considering the surroundings of the cathedral, not too expensive either.
The service at the counter was quick and efficient and we didn’t have to wait too long for our order.
I chose a full “Lancashire” breakfast with poached eggs.
It was absolutely lovely – the ingredients were first rate and very tasty (especially the sausage).
Partner had a small Lancashire breakfast with scrambled eggs which I was reliably informed were lovely. My only small criticism was that my poached eggs were just on the wrong side of being cooked - They were still soft but not runny as I like them. But I suppose it is down to individual preference.
I would definitely visit again and maybe try the lunch menu as the specials on the board looked very tempting.
We take our breakfast every Saturday morning before shopping. Nothing can be faulted. The staff work extremely hard, always finding things to do during quiet spells. The food is second to none. We can highly recommend this place.
Fab place, great menu.
It can be difficult travelling when you have a gluten free diet, but this place had plenty to choose from. Fish and chips, a rare treat.

Oh My God!!!
You have to go and try the food here. This is the second time I have been and it’s amazing. I’ve had the FULL Lancashire breakfast which was good.
Today I’ve had the Sandham’s Tasty Lancashire cheese and onion pie. This is all I’m ever going to eat.
Just had a brew and a bacon butty. All perfect especially the quality bacon bun, rammed full of proper bacon.
Served by a lovely young lady.

I enjoyed the Vegetarian breakfast & Coffee. Nice staff. Clean. Access to clean toilets. Nice to walk up through the Cathedral a lovely building.
Six of us had a lovely breakfast here this morning, really friendly staff, very clean place. Definitely go again.
Wow! Up here working and someone said, pop to the cathedral cafe and here I am! Lovely and clean. Friendly service with a warmth rather than a process.
Had some wonderful haddock goujons in a sub roll with salad and tartare sauce. Some pancakes to finish as I am in a holy place and it is shrove Tuesday and I need to give up sugar for lent but that is another confession...
Eat, drink be merry and confess to the Lord for gluttony if you opt for the afternoon tea that looks amazing but booking is recommended.

Excellent.!!! Staff perfect. Everything hit and fresh. Went in with a wheelchair. Brilliant access. Wouldn’t have thought to go here but will definitely be a regular. And just round the corner from the market. Well done.
Ordered small breakfast was really tasty and served hot. Nice pot of tea too served by a very nice waitress will definitely go again.
A very tasty eggs benedict, in a really pleasant atmosphere.
Recommended if you're visiting Blackburn and / or Blackburn Cathedral it's a great place for a bite to eat.
I went for lunch with a couple of friends today. The food and service was excellent. Would highly recommend 👌
Absolutely delicious hot fresh food. Good pot of tea. Generous portions. Lovely lay out of the cafe. Very spacious. You pay for what you get.
Stunning historic venue, good food, although limited choice, good wine at a decent price, although limited choice. Very friendly atmosphere and very family friendly. Good value for money.
