Had lunch here on Wednesday with a few friends.
The enormous amount of building work in the area which will swallow this lovely old town and turn it into another cookie cutter housing estate by the time it is finished completely cut off the old approach roads to this converted farm area. You have to drive through part of the new estate and then down the old lane to find the place.
There are a few new, old build barns, much in keeping with the way the area is being turned into an artificial, mock old, plasterboard city for the "Look at me" crowd who will loudly state that they live in Bishop's Stortford, rah!
Anyway rant over!
When we arrived there was a long queue of mumsy ladies in dresses waiting to get in. We thought there was a wedding or something going on but when we asked we were told they were waiting to sit inside despite it being a glorious day and there is plenty of seating outside.
The staff member was very helpful and we were told to choose a table, decide what we wanted off the menu, go through the further door to the counter, order what we wanted and it would be brought out to us. Which we did and got served our food before most of those still standing in the queue.
The food was great and up to the same standard as their sister restaurant at North Weald airfield.
There's plenty of parking but make sure you plot your route in and visit before the cardboard ghetto is completed and the mumsy club besiege it with their Range Rovers, Teslas and other attention seeking devices.
Visited for lunch and sat outside as it was a lovely day , was advised that someone would come and take our order outside , lady came and took our order for drinks and food . Waited quite a while for the drinks and questioned the wait time . Sandwiches and bagel arrived , all very tasty and nicely presented but no drinks, questioned it again and they finally arrived when food nearly finished . Had to go in to order cake as no one came out , again when the cakes finally arrived they were very nice but again had to ask where they were as waited quite a long time and by this time the place wasn't that busy . No apologies for the wait and prices aren't cheap so would have liked a bit better service .
Fancy driving through a posh housing estate for a mile before you get your tea time treats?!
Fancy Comfy sofas nice views incredible cake and good lighting?!
Very clean sunny friendly with beautiful everything.
The maple syrup brownie-brownie, icing and syrup very nearly finished me.
It'll be lovely in the summer with the big trees outside and a weeping willow
AND THERE'S A HEATED TOWEL RAIL IN THE LOO. and not one of those blowers that damages your hearing. Paper towels. 👌🏼👍☝️
Need to tart up the garden though, guys.
*edit*
That was 4 years ago.
The garden has indeed been tarted up and the willow is now nice and big. Outdoor seating gives you the chance to tan with your tea. And it's near a little lake/pond.
A really little beaut of a tea room.
I had afternoon tea here and it was great, there was a large selection of sandwiches and cake, and the scones were perfect.
Great food, lovely cup of tea. The teapots had a nice design. Sat outside, bit windy. Good service. Definitely worth a visit. I had the smoked salmon on granary sandwich. A bit pricey, but it was delicious, so worth the extra.
Been coming here 2-3 times a week for the last 3 years or so and received good to adequate customer service even when it was busy not today, truly awful, could see it was busy so went inside so the staff could see someone was waiting, at least 3 waitresses passed with no acknowledgement, benefit of the doubt as it was busy went back outside another 5 minutes no acknowledgement still nothing, then other people started to turn up and were seated and served while we were seemingly still invisible after 2 more party's arrived and were seated and had their orders taken! nothing was said until I approached a waitress and asked if she could see me and told her we had been there nearly half an hour and been ignored, needless to say we then left.
Have been visiting again in the last few months and there has been a vast improvement here, same delicious food and drinks but with prompt and attentive service.
Lovely place for a cakefest. Delicious cream tea followed by more cake a great selection to be had with gluten free options available all reasonably priced.
It was a beautiful day, so we sat outside. The food was lovely and very filling. We actually brought the cakes back home with us. We will definitely be going back again.
This place is a little gem of a cafe/tea room. I am a regular at this place and all be ause the location is beautiful, the staff are always so professional and the food is just amazing. The place is always clean and very welcoming. During covid period they say everyone outside and very limited numbers indoors (hand sanitisers available). I highly recommend this place for a breakfast or lunch with family and friends.
Welldone to the team!
Barista Mia was incredibly welcoming! It was our first time at Rosie Lea (wickham hall) my daughter had the Biscoff cake yum! And I had the chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream, honestly so delicious! Can’t recommend this place enough!! Thank you!
A lovely place to eat inside and out of the building. I highly recommend eating outside on a beautiful sunny day. The service is always top-notch, and the food is excellent.
Had a great breakfast here. Food was really good and service was great. really liked there coffee too, plenty of parking spaces outside.
Food and service very good. Tried to redeem my gift card but it had gone a couple of weeks past acceptance date due to me having oncology treatment for last 6 months.other than that all fine
A perfect high tea! We were celebrating my birthday and decided to stop by on our way to London and were rewarded with a delicious and fun experience.
A little gem food is fantastic if you are patient enough on busy times then it's worth the visit
Excellent food & drinks.
Walked from Stansted for morning coffee, only to find that Wickham Hall has blocked the bridleway!
If on foot, be prepared for longish detour.
Lovely tea room with a great selection of brunch options. Fresh cakes available - the carrot cake is soooo good. There is indoor and outdoor seating (covered with a couple of heaters). Currently doing table service based on COVID guidelines.
