Hagley Road ofcourse isn’t the nicest, but we were made homeless by a private landlord and have lived in Cobden for 4 months now and finally going to a temporary accommodation in a few days. The time we have been here really makes me appreciate the staff working behind the desk and no doubt around the hotel. Amazing experience and really made me believe life is what you make it. My only problem would be the bugs (mainly on first floor) and the very rude cleaner that cleaned our room on the first floor after we had moved rooms, I don’t know her name and I also don’t care too. She was a Jamaica women and as we were going to put a wash on one day she asked if we was in (said room) we said yes and before we got to finish by saying but we moved out of it over a week ago she started calling us dirty people and to flush to toilet. (Bare in mind we left this room in brilliant condition as we had vacuumed emptied and sprayed the room when leaving) we of course shouted back and the situation escalated. After she found out someone else had been using the room after us she “came to apologise” this was not an apology but ended in another argument where we told her to stop raising her voice and she replied “ i’m Jamaican” which has nothing to do with the matter. Continuing she made comments towards me and my child “my kids older then both of you and you call yourself parents” *OR SOMETHING ALONG THEM LINES*I can’t remember exactly as it was a few months ago. But again everything else was perfect I would just avoid her.

I worked here in 1993/94 when it was called the New Cobden Hotel. Full of wonderful memories of the good times we staff had together. Customers were not pretentious rich people, just down-to-earth normal folk. Management were great too. We had a Jazz music weekend in the rear gardens and a travel industry weekend conference where all the top companies in domestic and international travel were there (including representatives from Qantas, Thomas Cook, British Airways, to name a few). The only issue we ever had as waiting staff was the shortage of spoons. I never knew why. Living in the staff accommodation on Rotton Park Rd was a hoot. Oh well, that was then......

It's cheap and cheerful, needs a bit of money spent on it. Very busy on weekends don't know what it's like Mon to Fri. Staff are hard working, they seem to be here constantly. The restaurant menu has lots of choice with affordable prices. Bar prices are comparable with local pubs and has loads of cocktail and shots offers. It seems as though they are slowly improving the place but it is slow. The shower water pressure is extremely fierce, some people might like this. Lovely firm mattresses but they haven't upgraded the bedding. The sheets cannot be tucked in on both sides of the bed because the mattress is too big. All in all a very popular hotel.

Good location, friendly and helpful staff. The building and facilities are dated; some noise dampening in the corridors and room doors would not go amiss. The room was clean and bed comfortable. The bathroom was also well maintained, with no grotty spots hiding. For the price, the experience was good.

Read previous reviews and it was with some trepidation that my sister and I stayed here...but it was her works Xmas party and meant we didn't have to worry about taxis or driving as it was at the hotel. Room we had was clean, warm and comfortable. Comfy beds, clean sheets....everything worked...even the Tele which is often the one thing that doesn't!! The . Christmas meal was lovely...could have been better presentation but tasted great and plenty of it. The DJ was rubbish... he needs to play songs his audience wants not his 'I love modern R&B' fest. .1 Bob Marley song all night on a Caribbean themed night...poor show!!! The staff here are great...nothing is too much trouble. After a restful night breakfast was busy with party goers leaving but it was hot, delicious and kept coming....well done!!! For £64 incl breakfast( special deal) it was a good stay. .if they continue to improve this hotel facilities it will be s great place to stay as long as service stats the same too. Thank you Cobden Hotel for a fun night out!

Stayed here for a week whilst on a course. It is what it is on the tin. A large, functional hotel, all the basics, plus the pool, but no trims. The rooms are clean, the carpet in the halls are threadbare and the restaurant serves good portions of food at cheap prices. If you are looking for a value for money 'blokes hotel', then it is perfect. If you are looking to impress your wife or girlfriend, then the little things might wind them up.

Reasonably good breakfast and good room. Room is clean and bathroom is in good shape, but I was told I got lucky. Other rooms smelled strongly of cigarettes and were in worse shape. Large portions of the hotel could do with a refurb. For those who want a good room I think it was 76 ;).

When we arrived at the hotel the staff were very friendly. The room we checked into had a funny smell so we was moved immediately into a bigger and better room. Hotel staff helped move all our luggage and travel cots. Housekeeping were amazing especially the supervisor. They went above and beyond to make sure we had all we needed. Breakfast was lovely would of been nice to of had another choice of sauages like chicken and veggie ones were not that great and we don't eat pork . The evening meals were lovely big portions and great for the price. I came with my mum and twin girls and i have to say we left feeling happy. Only down side is that there isnt anything for the children maybe a outdoor play area and possible indoor games as the children did get a little bored.

Palatial sized room with comfy double bed, lovely, clean and spacious - there was even somewhere to put our suitcase. Excellent soundproofing although the hotel was pretty full. Only real downside is that there was no plug for the bath, and it took a long time to get the shower temperature right without being scalded , but once adjusted the shower was superb. Top notch breakfast - we stay in lots of hotels and this breakfast is absolutely superb. Nicely cooked, plenty of it. huge and unlimited choice and REAL coffee to finish it off. You simply MUST stay at this hotel if only for the breakfast! It is certainly on our "favourites" list and we thoroughly recommend.

The location was great, parking is round the back & there is plenty of it thankfully. You have to pay £5 to use the leisure facilities which is very sad. The garden is peaceful with picnic tables at the back. The rooms themselves were ok. I'd booked 4. 2 family rooms & 2 twins. 1 family room had a chair & the other didn't. The one I slept in hadn't had the bin emptied but the towels smelt very fresh. The food was ok, all the guests descended around 9.15am for breakfast and the kitchen were struggling to keep up a little. Coffee was good and strong though. They had a good choice. We had one staff member who was super lovely, very helpful and friendly (think her name was Tia). Overall we had a good weekend there!

We had our wedding reception at the Cobden Hotel in the Cobden Suite. Jessine managed the whole event and planning process who did an absolutely fantastic job. She walked us through our plans for the day and asked all the right questions in our pre-event meetings to make it perfect. Thank you so much to the team at Cobden for all your best efforts to make our event special, everything turned out great and the room looked amazing.
