Local fresh produce that has obviously been loved before it reaches the plate, and always comes up with an excellent tasty dish. I've been in a few times for lunch now and have enjoyed the food every time.
Hope the Hive continues to thrive and grow - it's a great place to eat.
Well I have worked in the JQ all my life and it's so love to finally have somewhere that has a good vegetarian menu. I have been twice and both time it's been quick and very good value for money. I can't recommend enough.
Had a fabulous lunch today: butterbean humus with home made bread sticks and a wonderful selection if salads and sumptuous olives. Very good value and friendly service. I will be coming back soon!
Thank you!
Popped in today for coffee and cake, both the carrot cake and chocolate brownie were delicious, good coffee and good value. Will definitely be back for lunch next time we're in the area.
Amazing!! First chai latte and won't be my last and the vegi Thai curry with peach chutney phenomenal !! Thank you
Great food & atmosphere, will definitely be back!!
beautiful food plenty of choice friendly service would go again xxxxxxxxxxxx
Lovely fresh food, Pumpkin bread and soup was amazing
Noticed this a few weeks back and managed to pop in yesterday. Not your usual set up with the open kitchen plan but very nice, I tried the quiche and salad. Salad included homemade sauerkraut and roasted lettuce, really tasty. Would have liked to try the cakes but too full.
Seasonal food was beautifully prepared and presented. Staff warm, friendly and knowledgeable about their produce. Great choice of dishes and drinks. We ordered 4 small plates to share between 2 and left nicely full :)
A lovely spacious café with a creative menu and delicious food. The coffee was great too, and at a very good price. Friendly staff and a calming atmosphere. I would recommend!
Delicious healthy and freshly made food. Friendly cheerful service. Very pleasant atmosphere. Great value. And you can buy amazing bread to take home. The Hive is my new favourite cafe! And the organisation has a great ethos too.
Absolutely blown away by the quality of food and service we experienced last Friday. We chose the German tofu sausage roll with sauerkraut, mustard and ale soaked pickles. £5.75 for really generous portions. Gorgeous cakes too. Only open when students are in so morning and early afternoon weekday servings, Monday - Friday. Well worth it and you're benefitting the community too 👍🏼👍🏾👍
The food is all lovely, the staff are pleasant. I'm docking service stars because a group beside me ordered some food and paid. Only after 3 of the group members had been brought the food and the 4th one was waiting were they told the 4th meal wasn't available. It should have been checked when the order was placed.
I've been a few times and you're generally served quickly. It's important to note that the toilets are kept clean and the tables are cleared quickly. The Hive is very well presented.
Preface: I got there just before closing (30 min) so the atmosphere can't really be an accurate score given they were getting ready to shut up shop.
The hive is delightfully quaint in feeling, whilst being huge in space. A rustic and open plan cafe come-coffee shop run/worked by some truly sweet beings.
The layout is accessible for mobility aids and is predominantly on one wide flat level with a large, low counter and an spacious seating area, a lift for aid users is available at the entrance.
Situated in the side streets of the jewellery quarter, this little haven is a home from home style eatery, a place to take a load off and support a community effort.
The hive hosts a multitude of workshops and social gatherings and their ethos seems to be firmly routed in the spreading, teaching and support of soulful skills, be that expression through the arts or sustainability through their grow/green projects and community involvement for self sustainability as a business.
Upon entering you are met with artistic expressions painted on the walls, past projects displayed in the books and crannies and information snippets on the walls.
The service was lovely, especially given they were in the process of packing down the kitchen when I arrived. Big smiles and joyful interactions were had.
Myself and my friend ordered a late and some pastries and sat to dry off a bit from out Birmingham exploration and be didn't once feel like a burden for showing up late.
We ate, drank and left 10 min before doors close so we weren't 'those customers' who hung around right till the doors closed.
I would love to go back and enjoy some of the projects or speak easies THEY host and I feel like it would be a great place to visit when bustling with other like-minded folk.
Clean, well priced, calm and chilled vibes. Lovely staff, accessible building with a fun and delightful atmosphere, even if we were the only ones there 🤣
Great value food, inc veggie and vegan and gluten free. Sponsored charity run training kitchen. Innovative salads and small dishes. Busy and friendly atmosphere and can visit exhibitions relating to The Jewellery Quarter. Staff are always friendly and helpful and the food is very good value.
Love it here at The Hive Cafe, they farm their own vegetables at the rooftop, and bread are baked freshly every day. The spacious interior at the Cafe is very nice to spend a bit of time resting in the afternoon with family.
Decent vibes on entry. Tasty food. I had white hot chocolate and chocolate pastry. Very nice and tasty. Staff were also polite and friendly too. I come from the countryside so am not used to city life all that much. This place was a nice stop for us tourists of Birmingham :).

Fantastic food! I love coming here for coffee, recently I came for lunch and it was delicious. Come early if you want lunch as they often sell out fast!
Love the lad on the counter, really nice and very welcoming!
We went to the Hive cafe today and we were delighted by the food and the ambience. The salad was absolutely delicious and we'll definitely be back to try out all the other delicacies. The service we had was cheerful and welcoming. Well done Hive cafe!
The Hive is a sustainable cafe and bakery serving food made from organic and biodynamic ingredients, including produce from their own rooftop garden. There is a wide variety of food served including breakfast and lunch. The focaccia sandwich with roasted red peppers, cheddar and couscous and salad on the side is absolutely delicious. They also sell homemade sourdough bread and different cakes and pastries. The staff is very friendly and helpful. A really nice concept for a local cafe and bakery. Definitely recommend!
Great location for a spot of lunch. Having been for the first time last week I've been been back again already! It's not the cheapest but it's clear the ingredients are very fresh (some of which I believe are grown on the roof), good quality and tastes great! Now I'm not in the office as much I'm more than happy to spend that bit extra which is much nicer, better quality than any high street £3 meal deal and is supporting a local independent too. A must try if in the Jewellery Quarter.

What a lovely experience. Very friendly staff. Vegan cake to die for - chocolate brownie and cherries was sooo yummy. I had decaf coffee I really couldn’t tell the difference- was to die for with oat milk so creamy. Will definitely go
Again and tell my friends. Just what I needed to recharge in a chilled atmosphere. Certainly took away the January blues 🩵 thank you for a blissful experience 🩵
Very good lunch. Nice Ans spacious place. Very quick service and lovely staff. Food tastes great and it looks like the entire menu is vegetarian with vegan options for a good amount. Good value for money as well. Well worth checking out.
I can see The Hive Cafe and Bakery has huge potential. It has a huge open kitchen area with the means to bake the best. The exciting menu reflects a contemporary take on bread good. It is popular, so please be prepared to wait. Thanks mate.
Food is quirky and different from the everyday - if you like that, which I do, it is truly excellent and the coffee is great. Really friendly and a very good cause to support
One of my places l go for breakfast everytime l come to the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham, l made a big mistake l let my friend's know and suddenly run out of my favourite Coconut Pancakes but the replacement Brioche toast was tasty although l would have preferred the pancakes, the staff are very friendly and helpful
