Had a great feed here. We were a party of nine and they accommodated us well. The food didn't take too long and came together. It was very nice, we all enjoyed our meals, but the pistachio lassi takes the cake as the most memorable part of the meal. Unfortunately, the room was quite cold and didn't improve much after asking the staff. However, the staff was friendly and treated us well. If you haven't gone, it's a worthwhile visit to develop your palate for Batli.
Friendly service and superb food. Very cheap. Recommended! Garlic chicken was awesome.
Friendly welcome by staff, nice and busy when we got here - food was fresh an very tasty - a bit on the warm/ spicy side but not a complaint just worth asking for it mild if you are so inclined - would definitely come again
" Brilliant". I Love it! Always fresh Always Good . Friendly staff - Super Food - Very Reasonable
Fantastic value at less than £15 for three courses. Service was good and food was decent. Liked that they accomodated my request for a paneer and chilli naan. Restaurant has a modern vibe.
We really enjoyed our trip to Al-Frash and I would have to say it was the highlight of my weekend. Not sure if I would put this in the Top 10 UK Curry Houses though as I can't say my socks were blown clean off or anything... Not sure what type of quality control went into that Guardian article... Hmm? BUT... The restaurant was nice, the food was great, the service was good (if a bit jokerish), plenty of booze flying about due to the old BYO... and this all made for a good night out in Birmingham. A great place to spend a yummy Friday night.
Found out I like Balti style Indian cuisine. The naan bread is huge. I knew something was up when the waiter asked, "what size naan, small or medium?" Same types of flavor as what I'm used to, but it seems more straightforward. I enjoyed that about it. Would definitely come back to try another dish and ask them to turn the heat up.
The food here is fantastic, I can highly recommend the Meetha Gosht (pictured) on the chef's specials or the all veggie balti. The rice is standard and we had a Paneer naan too. The naan bread was incredibly fresh and beautiful however didn't really have a lot of paneer flavour to it sadly. They are, however, massive naan breads with a small being enough for one and a medium for two. Price for the meal was very reasonable and the staff are friendly. The restaurant doesn't serve alcohol but I did see people drinking beers so I assume it's bring your own.
Overall lovely would go back again.
Always great when you go for a Ruby and actually get something different.
The masala fish starter was beautifully sweet and well worth a try. The mixed grill starter had a few tasty extras you wouldn't normally expect in a standard balti house.
Main were very well flavoured and everyone our group was impressed.
The Naan breads are large.
Toilets were clean
BYOB so saved on the final bill too
Worth a trip further into brum rather than your local.
Had my first visit here last weekend. The staff were very friendly and helpful (we had some faddy eaters in our group and the staff were very patient).
The food was great, although I ordered something that was spicy and it wasn't hot at all. Maybe next time I'll ask for a bit more heat to be added. I'd definitely come back here.
Recommended, but they don't serve alcohol so bring your own beers!
Very friendly and attentive staff. The food was good and the head waiter is ready to guide you through the menu. I enjoyed the mango lassi too.
The decor is very simple but modern.
One downside, the toilets were okay but could have done with a clean.
Great authentic food, really good value and down to earth but professional. Al Frash is exactly what I look for in a curry house. Not ostentatious, just focus on good food presented well. The dishes taste very fresh and have lots of varied flavour. The spice level was perfect for my taste - suited to the flavour of the dish, not over the top or too mild. The mango lassi is an excellent refreshment to quench any excess spice you encounter. The best meal I've had in this area for a while.
Really good curry. Some of the best I've had in a long time. The nan bread was fresh, fluffy and smelt amazing. You do need to bring your own alcohol.
Been coming to Al-frash for over 10 years and never disappoints. The quality of the food is second to none. They can customise your dishes and even change the meat if you prefer a particular flavour or style. Yes it's very busy at the weekend and recommend booking, but talk to the friendly staff and you wont be disappointed by their recommendations. The garlic chilli chicken balti or any variant of this is our favourite. Try the family naan. Enjoy.
This does the best baltis I have been able to find. The food is great, freshly cooked and there is a great variety of dishes. You get the meat in a proper cooked sauce, not a coloured slop like some places. I have been going here for years and it is always a treat. I recommend the Mirch Masala, Butter Chicken or Archar Gosht. The Mix grill or Group mix starter is very good for sharing.
The best Balti in Britain. Service was great as always and the food was amazing. We honestly can believe how cheap it was as well. They do no sell alcohol but allow to bring your own alcoholic drinks.
Busy on a Saturday evening - we had to wait for a table and then the food took a long time to arrive, but it was tasty enough to make up for the wait. No parking, no booze, but this should be - and is about the curry - which is right up there
Food was incredible well worth the 30 minute wait. Noticed they had 5 rating on food hygiene, shame that doesn't cover the restaurant, lots of cobwebs on the nice decor, but toilets on the "oderfull" side...
