Great food, great ambience, great staff...which is why it's the first choice of VIPs when they come to Birmingham, be they politicians rock stars or sporting heroes ...no wonder GM Tony Elvin and his team are picking up so many awards....it's simply the best, better than all the rest!

Well I've been coming this Hotel du Vin for over 15 years! Had a wonderful Birthday Sunday Lunch for my Daughters yesterday... The food & drinks were delicious and the customer service first class, as usual. It's my favourite hotel in Birmingham and that's why I keep returning and sending my client base in for their overnight stays, booking events & fine dining.

Everyone knows the best way to welcome someone in from a torrential rainstorm is with a large glass of fizz. At (ironically) their summer menu tasting, Hotel Du Vin went one better, welcoming us with a blind tasting of four different varieties; the challenge was to identify Champagne, French Cremant, Prosecco and English sparkling wine using only our eyes, noses and tongues.

I first stayed in Birmingham’s Hotel du Vin on the day of my 21st, a decade and a bit ago, when an ex-girlfriend treated me ahead of what has gone down as one of the cities wankiest ever birthday parties. If memory serves me correct, I wore a white suit and vest, the only colour emanating from me being a deep orange fake tan that Trump would have been envious of. I got drunk, wasted the rooms intentions and woke up to the sound of her boffing into a bin in the morning. She was a class act, was Mel. Fast forward six months and she is driving out of Bristol’s Hotel du Vin alone, whilst I am in the bath unaware of the messages she has found on my phone. This would turn out to be a reoccurring theme in my adult life. I’ll never learn.

Best Breakfast in Brum. For a very elegant and delicious breakfast in Brum there's no better place than Hotel Du Vin.
When I visited (and I wasn't a hotel resident) I opted for the breakfast buffet, which for about £12 gives you the opportunity to fill your boots with unlimited pastries, coffee, juice, cereals, yogurt, fruits and breads.
It's a cut above your average breakfast buffet though, with items such as syrup poached pears, artisan croissants and chunky granola.
For a few quid more you can also chose something off the a la carte menu such as smoked salmon and scrambled eggs or a full English breakfast.
The setting is charming and the service impeccable.
Go on, treat yourself!
Booking often required.

I'd been to Pub Du Vin before for a look around and I was here for a Gin In June event organised by Hotel Du Vin and CocktailxChange. The actual entrance is on Edmund Street although it's part of the main building on Church Street. The event actually kicked off at 6pm but as usual I was crazy early, I got a lemonade to make sure I didn't get too smashed on the 4 gin cocktails. (I'm a lightweight these days!) The Bar area is right in the middle of the pub with different seating areas set around it. It's pretty intimate and probably can get quite crowded I'll be back for afternoon beers!!

I used to come to this 'pub' underneath Hotel Du Vin quite frequently until their beer prices drastically increased, so we ventured else where. I have been back since for a rum tasting, but had never considered eating here until Vicky O. mentioned it this week. We walked in at 12.30 and although there were other people seated, we had no problem finding a table. Our upbeat waiter came over promptly and served us quickly. Monday -Friday they do 2 burgers for £15 and although there wasnt a big choice we had quite a time trying to decide which to choose! My bacon and cheese burger on brioche bun with fries was delicious. I definitely think with that offer on it is worth going. The ambianace is smart casual, so best for a work lunch or just wanting to get away from the corwds.

As you would expect from the bar in Hotel Du Vin, the hotel's opulent and classy reception lead to an equally opulent and classy bar. It's warm and comfortable, but I would recommend wearing something nice if you are planning a visit as it's easy to feel "underdressed". There is a mixture of sofa's, tables and seats around the bar; so it's a good place for a small group or for a couple of people. It's always lovely and warm, so is a nice place to visit in the Winter for a treat. I have only tried the food at an event, but it was fresh, warm and delicious. We had mini fish and chips in little newspaper boats (So cute), beef skewers and a selection of things served in a light, crispy tempura batter. The staff have been friendly and attentive both at the bar and at events. The reason this is a four star venue is the price. I'm no stranger to the idea that "Class Costs," but it's quite off putting to pay such an inflated price for cocktails. Having said that, the Espresso Martini is like nothing else. It tastes amazing and is served with roasted coffee beans sitting on the cream on top. Bliss. I would say this is a good place for a meaningful celebration, but not a place to spend a whole night.

Absolutely stunning hotel, in a beautiful building. I’ve stayed here several times and have never been disappointed. I asked if I could have a slightly larger room and Fleur in the reception team organised me a wonderful alternative room. The rooms are beautiful decorated, clean and with luxurious products. Breakfast was tasty and the service was pleasant and swift. Thank you team for making my stay really comfortable and special. It was unexpected and very gratefully received. I will be back and will continue to recommend this hotel to any you me who will listen to me!

The hotel is beautiful and in a central location which was perfect for our stay! The receptionist in the morning was very lovely and offered to take our bags so we could explore the city. On the night of the 26/01/24 we went into the lounge and had a cocktail, I did not catch the bartender's name but she was so lovely and made our evening very relaxing. The only thing I would say was the breakfast was slow but I believe that was due to staffing issues and you could tell it was taking a toll on the staff. However, the hot breakfast I had was lovely.

I arranged a private dinner and afternoon tea for a team reunion. We were a group of 16 and were very well looked after. Food was fabulous and the hotel staff were very attentive.

Room was on the 3rd floor but there was a lift, albeit very slow & quite small - 3 person max. Some issues with our room, there was a background noise throughout most of the both nights we stayed. Sounded like a pump, so maybe we were close to a laundry area? However, it was loud enough to make it difficult to get to sleep. The squeel the wardrobe doors made was very loud & unpleasant. Like chalk being dragged on a drawing board! Helpfully there was a light in the clothes hanging area of the wardrobe. However there was no light where the tea, coffee, kettle etc were situated on a shelf in the wardrobe. We ended up moving it onto the desk, so we could see what we were doing. There was a window but it was situated so high, we couldn't open it - without having to clamber onto the desk & stand up on it, to reach the handle - & we are too old for that! The bath was high sided & quite difficult to get in & out of. We don't consider that we have any mobility issues but we struggled. The toilet cistern took so long to refill - about 15 minutes, during which time you couldn't use the shower without being boiled - there wasn't any cold water flow to it when the toilet cistern was filling. The room was very warm at night & we were unable to adjust the thermostat or open the window. One other issue, was that there was no price list displayed in the bar. Barman stated there had been but it had gone missing & he had been unable to get it replaced. All that being said, the staff were all lovely, the breakfasts were excellent & the room was clean. Also the location perfectly suited our needs.

We have a lovely deluxe room. But the bathroom had no heating that worked, so it was cold for a shower or bath. I would swap the kettle over with the coffee maker so that sits inside the wardrobe. The breakfast was lovely with a choice of food for everyone.

Excellent hotel. Incredibly quiet despite being in the city centre. Staff very accommodating to my request for flowers to be put into the room before I got there to surprise my wife. The only downside was when we asked for room service wanting a midnight snack, we were told the kitchen was being cleaned overnight so there was no food available. A real shame especially after initially being told we could have it before they realised it wasn’t then possible.

Nice bistro/restaurant. Went here for a christmas meal with friends. The drinks took a while to be served, some got their drinks straight away while the others had to ask the waiters/waitresses for their drinks. The food also started arriving before I was served my drinks, and I had to inform the staff of the missing drink before I received it. The food was incredible! Staff were apologetic and seemed very busy, which is understandable for a Saturday. Overall decent experience.

I visited the hotel for a champagne afternoon tea. The afternoon tea was lovely and there was a wide choice of teas to choose. I would say the ice cream pop was a nice idea, but needs to be eaten sooner rather than later, for obvious reasons. The service was great to start with, but there was a change of shift which left us with one gentleman covering the dining room and as well setting up another part of the dining room for an event, dividing his attention. All in all it was a good experience I would recommend.

I didn't visit this hotel, but I had the opportunity to visit the bistro bar, with a spectacular living room well decorated and with a pleasant atmosphere. A quiet place to drink, relax and socialize.

My husband and I went to Hotel Du Vin & Bistro for our anniversary 💕🍷 the mood in the restaurant was so romantic. ✨The servers were so nice and the food was delicious. One of the best juiciest steaks I’ve ever had 🥩and the muscles were so creamy in that lovely, white wine and garlic sauce 😋

Great place to stay. Deluxe room was huge.... worth paying the extra. Generally, very happy with stay. Only minor gripes.... minor maintenance issues. Don't understand why hotels fix shower gel etc too high up the wall & under the shower fitting. Best location is around waist height so it is easy to access and away from shower head. Service in the bar and bistro was slow. Half hour wait for cooked breakfast to be served. Otherwise, highly recommended.

Such a beautiful hotel! From the moment we walked in we felt so at ease and well looked after. Every single staff member had a smile on their faces and nothing was too much trouble. Sol checked us in late in the evening and could not have been friendlier. He told us a little about the hotel and made us feel really special! The room was very large and beautifully decorated. The bathroom had a large shower and a stand alone bath (which could probably fit a whole family..). The breakfast staff was super lovely and accommodating, topping up our teas & coffees and checking up on us. When we came down for breakfast the second day, Ian remembered our hot drinks of choice and it was brought over to us before we even had a chance to ask for it. If you're looking for exceptional service in Birmingham's most beautiful hotel, this is it. The whole hotel is extremely clean, the food and drinks are delicious and the service is superb. I wish I had time to come every weekend!

Fantastic boutique hotel in the heart of the city. Just off Colmire Row by Birmingham Cathedral, it's ideally situated to great restaurants and bars. £130 B&B for two Rooms were spacious, well appointed, and the de lux rooms showers are huge.
