Vibrant well run Italian restaurant. Extensive menu most dishes tasty and nicely presented. Compact but well chosen wine list at very reasonable prices. Service good. Ideal location for dinner before a show. Final bill represents good value for money.

Excellent Dining Experience” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2013 NEW Although it is ideally placed for a pre-theatre meal if you are visiting the Hippodrome the food at Milano is worthy of time being taken over it because it is very good indeed. The menu offers a wide choice in terms of price including a fixed tariff pre-theatre mean which my partner very much enjoyed. Being a glutton I was unable to resist the Daily Special of Lobster Linguine and I can never resist anti-pasto - Milano's was of a generous quantity and high quality; both courses were delicious. The tables are beautifully laid out and the service is friendly and attentive. I have absolutely no criticism to make (I didn't like the desserts but I don't like Italian desserts and can hardly blame them for being authentic!). As a pre-opera meal (especially if the opera is Italian!) I cannot think of a more delightful experience - just leave yourself enough time. Went for a meal before seeing a show. Food was beautiful. Service was a little slow, it wasn't busy but the staff were very polite. Reasonably priced, ours was more because we had a bottle of fizz
This proved an interesting restaurant.
It's very attractive to visit.Excellent location for the hippodrome theatre.
They certainly coped with a busy pre theatre lunch session.Limited menu.
Staff were helpful,at times we felt at little over stretched.
Food,in the main all good.Little touches would have raised the bar.
The sea bass was very good,but had been dried out around the edges,from the pass,which given it was busy was odd.
Lasagna,good,but lacking that crispy finish.Not exceptional.
Everything arrived hot.
Calamari,good, little rubbery.
Things like putting olive oil and balsamic vinegar on the tables would be a nice touch.
Mains came with a salad
The desert's we had were excellent have to say,my lemon based one,one of the best I eaten.
Tap water provided no problem.
Wines, delicious whites well chilled.
Price point above average to high for the quality.
But overall a lovely lunchtime experience.

Me and my girlfriends family have come here the past 3 years in a row on Christmas Eve the food is always spot on, never had a bad meal from here. The pizza is one of the best pizzas I've ever had.

Excellent selection of seafood which is not always the case in Birmingham. I had the lobster linguine while my wife had the seafood linguine. Both were delicious and we shared a bottle of white wine which went down well.
I will say that I don’t eat much seafood and didn’t realise there was further meat in the lobster claw which I hadn’t been given the tool to crack until the waiter who collected the plate asked about it, although he then cracked with the tool even if it was slightly cold. Even so, the meal itself was great.
Good place to dine in or just to do like us and stop for a great desserts 🍨 🥧 🍦 🍡 🍧
The tiramisu is fantastic, but to be honest I think that all the caces were great.
I gave them only 4 stars because the service was quite poor, we ordered coffee and the cup was dirty, we asked to change it and they replace it with another dirty cup that we sent it back as well. Some of the waiters were ok, some of them were a bit grumpy.
The place is beautifully designed, and is cozy, quite comfortable for a relaxing dinner.
We will return to try the food someday.
Delicious food, quiet atmosphere, amazing location. Today I went there for the first time. Definitely coming back again. We ordered:
Spaghetti with tomato sauce 9/10 (very delicious but needed something on top).
Risotto with mushroom 10/10 I definitely recommend it.
Garlic break 10/10 really soft and tastes so yummy.
Booked in for pre theatre dinner expecting something average. Really pleasantly surprised, the food, the service and the cocktails all exceptional. The staff are always available but without being over bearing. The arancini, seabass and cheesecake were some of the best I've had. Highly recommend!
Beautiful venue, calm and peaceful but with enough of a vibe to make it enticing. Good service (would’ve said great if she cracked a smile!) and great coffee. I didn’t eat here but judging by the mood of nearby diners, it’s great food too! I don’t like service charges added to the bill, but it was less than I would’ve tipped so no complaints.
Overall quite a nice place with interesting interior, only had a chocolate cake and coffee. The cake was very average, definitely expected better quality for the price. There are much better places around the city centre so probably won't visit again
