Have you ever thought that the interior design of an unfamiliar restaurant can guide you towards the flavors you will soon discover? That's exactly how it is at Mowgli Food restaurant in Birmingham. The softly flickering lights hidden in beautiful, large (and importantly, very clean!) jars create an incredible introduction to a culinary feast. You find yourself surrounded by thousands, even millions of twinkling lights, uncovering the mysterious world of Indian cuisine. It may seem obvious, seemingly well-known, yet it feels like discovering it anew, just like those lights.
And the attentive staff taking care of you. Very helpful, but absolutely unobtrusive. Always ready to assist you. And understanding towards our children - who are not easy, unfortunately. 😉
You know that the proposed dishes and a good glass of wine will make this meal unforgettable.
It's a shame that I can't visit there this weekend!
Mowgli, an Indian restaurant situated in Bull Ring, Birmingham Central. Notably, the establishment was relatively calm during my time there. A noteworthy aspect was the absence of appetizers on the menu, which exclusively featured main course dishes. While the items were reasonably priced, the portion sizes, upon consideration, seemed somewhat modest for an individual with a hearty appetite.
The restaurant's interior, adorned with dim lighting, posed a challenge in terms of menu readability. The utilization of cutlery presented in a recycled ghee tin struck me as a slightly downgraded aesthetic choice. Despite these observations, I must commend the staff for their exceptional politeness and courtesy. Impressively, the food was promptly served within a mere 10 minutes of placing the order.
The culinary experience proved to be a highlight, with the flavors resonating exceptionally well. In light of the commendable quality of the food, I would rate Mowgli with a score of 4 out of 5.
This was my 1st to this restaurant and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. As I usually do normal standard India restaurants.
Anyway the food was really nice and a great mixture of spices thrown in to add the element of difference to the eating experience. They are small portions and I had a mixture of 4 separate dishes to share with
others so we had a good selection of different foods. The staff are really pleasant and the food was served all at the same time too. Highly recommended.
This is my 2nd visit here and I can't wait to go back. Situated in the food court of the station it stands out because of the beautiful decor, with thousands of fairy lights sparkling. Very nice seating arrangement, with some booths, the staff are always friendly and efficient. The food is fabulous, served in Tiffin tins, and beautiful silver square plates to eat from. I chose 3 dishes, chickpeas in Darjeeling tea, lentil Dahl, and potato with spinach and tomato. My companion had buttered chicken and flatbread. Everything was perfect. Highly recommended.
I have come to this venue on a number of occasions and it's always been a good experience.
They really focus on their flavouring. It's a small and simple menu but it works. The venue has great ambiance, however it could be a bit warmer.
But overall I would return, and will recommend to all.
Try the chaat bombs as starters, they are so good.
The food was amazzzzing, definitely, I’m coming again🤩. Also, the staff were very welcoming, thank you all for the service🥰. (I recommend to book before).
First visit here today, definitely won't be the last, nice atmosphere friendly staff and beautiful tasting food. Planning my next visit already as there's so many other things I want to try. Had lamb chops and potatoes, the house lamb curry, rice and roti, between two people was very filling, and good prices.
It’s become one of my fav restaurants. Whenever I visit Birmingham, always try to go there. Love the romantic atmosphere, friendly staff, good service and cherry on top it’s not burden on your pocket. Very reasonable prices. Real Asian street food taste 😋
Came here for a Valentine’s Day meal. Amazing vegan menu with lots of choices; food here is to be shared by nature but my omni boyfriend was incredibly impressed by the vegan offerings. We were served by Stefan who was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Really lovely experience with a good vibe inside. The treacle fries are a must try :)
Really enjoyed the food. Second visit, but first was years ago. Quite busy, so glad we had booked. I had a lucky dip Tiffin Box for main, consisting of stacking containers of two meat curries and a veg curry of the chefs choice. Two curries were chicken which was a shame...would have preferred variety. Veg curry was chickpeas. With having to buy rice and chapattis on top I thought it was quite pricey. 236 quid for five including drinks seemed a lot to pay for lunch to me, but to be fair I wouldnt normally have starter and pudding. Nice decor inside with its quirky fairy lights, but quite dim to read small print on the brown menu paper...maybe just showing my age. Staff very accommodating in adding an extra impromptu person to our party despite it being busy.
My absolute favourite restaurant!! The chat bombs and paneer are just amazing! As a solo diner I felt welcomed and comfortable throughout. My server was Stefan and he couldn't have been more helpful, thank you ☺️
Beautifully decorated restaurant with what feels like endless fairy lights! Love everything about it and highly recommend to anyone visiting Birmingham.
Food was good and staff were super friendly and attentive. Once you’re in there, you can’t help but order the Mango Lassi.
What is super cute is that the seats are hanging on strings.
Visited Mowgli for the first time since it opened for a business meeting and was very impressed!
I ordered the Mowgli Sticky Chicken and the Fenugreek Kissed Fries, both were amazing and not too spicy!
