Pushkar is a fine dine in restaurant with great service plus delicious food.

This is on my list from a long time and finally got a chance to visit this place. Tried chicken biryani and it tasted delicious. Staff were friendly and ambience was amazing. If you are looking for a place to taste delicious Hyderabadi dum biryani then this is the place.

We went to Pushkar to have dinner. We had ordered a table for 7 but due to last minute surprises we expected 8 people to turn up. The restaurant made us feel very uncomfortable and were rude cause they needed to arrange seating for an extra person.

Going to the food , since we were quite a big group we tried the entire bread basket along with some dhaal, butter chicken , mutton and lamb curry. As for vegetarians like me , they have good spread of paneer , Bhindi and potato curries. The bhindi curry wasn't great and very garlicky for my liking. The quantity of all dishes are in small portion as you would normally expect in a fine dining restaurant.

The drinks menu has quite a descent selection of cocktails and a few mocktails. Would definitely recommend the grape fusion mocktail for non alcoholics.

Overall if you are prepared to put through a bit of bad service in a really busy restaurant you might enjoy the food and the very well crafted and maintained decor of Pushkar.

One thing that stands out for this place is it's decor, It looks great and it feels great to be there. Location which happens to be Broad Street is another big plus. Visited on a friday night around 10 and it was almost full though it has got lots of space. Food is very nice however quantity is less, Drinks menu is ok. All in all a good place for a lovely fine dine experience.

Which was the fear I haboured before I ate at Pushkar, a new Indian restaurant on Birmingham's bustling Broad Street.

The decor is stunning - lots of pale colours broken by tasteful artwork and eye-catching light fittings.

You enter across a floor lit up like a shimmering blue pond inhabited by moving goldfish.

The chairs are plush and the table settings exquisite.

The wine list, cocktail list and menu, all on scented paper, arrive in a box.

They are brought by pretty and attentive waitresses in almost Grecian-style dresses in a shiny, muted fabric.

For those of us who are old enough to remember, it's like stepping on to the cover of a Roxy Music album circa 1980.

There's a feeling of luxury and slightly dissolute hedonism as you sit there.

Then comes the food from an admirably short menu whose main thrust is northern Indian.

And here my heart skipped a beat, for what we ate was very good indeed. Style and substance had met, shaken hands and formed a damned fine partnership.

The poppadoms we were brought were good, crisp things, though the garishly coloured ones struck me as more a novelty than a treat.

They came with very pleasant sauces.

My starter - Punjabi tokri chaat - was a wonderful collection of things.

There were chickpeas and salads and chutneys in a potato basket topped with an admirably crisp pastry filled with spinach.

My wife Lynn's crab cakes were also well received, as were our son Murray's dahi puri chaat - pastry shells filled with spuds and chickpeas and topped with yoghurt and tamarind sauce.

Main courses, too, delivered.

The awadhi gosht korma I ordered comprised absurdly tender lamb in a rich and delicate sauce with many layers of flavour.

Murray's palialashahi gosht, another lamb dish, likewise won approval.

Perhaps, though, the stars of the show were the creamy but sassy black lentils that Lynn ordered - a satisfying dish of remarkable depth of flavour. But her vegetable kofta dish ran it a close second.

Breads and rice were of a similarly high standard.

The garam masala brulee I ate as a pudding was exemplary in textures and spiced with sensible restraint.

Murray's carrot halwa was a sweet and beguiling thing.

However, Lynn thought the filling of her chocolate samosa a little too firm.

But this is a quibble about classy and tasty food prepared by Bishal Rasaly, a chef with a fine pedigree.

Our very reasonable bill also included cocktails and beer.

Spice up your life!. In the middle of Birmingham's binge-drinking central, attached to a budget hotel, you'll find Pushkar's. Don't let the location put you off! This new edition to Birmingham's ever-maturing epicurean panorama serves the coolest cocktails and sumptuous Indian cuisine that even Ummi Kumar (at Number 42) would be proud off - although it may not be her choice of décor with no flock wallpaper in sight. The clean and simple furniture and decoration shout cool-living, and the stylish lighting and chilled out music make it easy to waste an hour or two sipping cocktails on the bar's high stools. Try a refreshing Garden Julep with cucumber and rose syrup or for the die hard drinkers go for a super-hip Martini in beautiful sculpted glassware. Having worked my way through the cocktail list over my past few visits, I can honestly say there isn't a bad one on there. Much like the food menu which caters for all tastes from the super-hot to the delicately spiced. Vegetarians needn't despair either as there is a good range of dishes. Food presentation is appetising, and not out of character with Birmingham's fine-dining establishments with which Pushkar's holds it's own. Service is spot on and the staff are happy to advise on drinks, and the menu. Dinner with wine will set you back c. £30 per head. Cocktails are around the £6 mark.

Pushkar is a relatively new restaurant, however since going there for the first time in December, it has quickly become my new favourite! I have taken my friends there on several occasions & we have always been impressed with the food, service and cocktails!!
The bar tenders have mesmerised us with their tricks, juggling with bottles and creating delicious drinks & the food as amazed us, its definitely not what you think of when someone says ''fancy a curry?'' its worlds away from the run-of-the-mill Indian.

Puskar has become one of my go-to spot for Indian cuisine in Birmingham. The flavors are rich and authentic, and the presentation is always beautiful. Its definitely a hidden gem and I highly recommend trying their Sharing platter.

Pushkar is definitely the best Indian restaurant in Birmingham. I am never disappointed and each visit it continues to amaze me. The food, atmosphere and service are excellent. Thank you to Rai and all his staff for yet another wonderful evening tonight. I bought my friends again and my grandson. You did me proud.

Very expensive for the experience. The main meals were probably worth every penny but extraordinary prices for poppadoms £5 and mocktails £7. Having recently had a wonderful experience in Rajasthan paying £17 a head, I did expect to pay a little more for Broad Street location but £40 per head including a four year old was excessive. Their website fairly warns service charge will be added for tables of 6 so I was disappointed to be charged £26 service charge for a table of five without warning. Like I said, the main courses were delicious just be warned in advance about the price of "sundries" such as £5 garlic naan or one portion of steamed rice which seemed very steep. £8 for two bottles of water was also unwelcome when we hadn't requested bottled water. Finally, at £42 a mixed platter starter was again delicious but expensive. Great for a treat.

It's fair to say, the fact that I've been here 3 times, says I like it. I'm not one for expensive restaurants, so this wouldn't normally be somewhere I eat. But sometimes, as they say, you get what you pay for... So, at approx £50 a head, not only is this one of the more expensive restaurants I've been to, but it's also one of the nicest in terms of taste, decor, and quality. To add to that, the service and speed of service has ALWAYS been excellent. Long-story-short... I love it and you have to eat here (trust me!!!)

The best service, delivered by serving staff member Sadiq, that I've experienced for a long time: perceptive, timely, tailored, professional, courteous & friendly. Pushkar offers some of the best examples of British Indian dishes in Birmingham in bright, spacious, exuberant surroundings.

Stylish, light Indian restaurant serving traditional flavours with a modern twist. The food was great, staff attentive without being over the top and the cocktails were very dangerously tasty, and reasonably priced.
